Sounds like you all have wonderful church families.
Eventhough our church family has not really done anything like your church families have, God had kept up going.
About 5 years ago, the doctor told me that my grandmother would have to go to a nursing home or move in with family very soon. She has Alzheimers and was put on medicine that prevented her from driving. I would go to her house in the country about 45 minutes away to bring her back to "town" for her appointments. She would stay with us overnight many of those times. We only had a 2br/1ba house... and two daughters.
So, 4 years ago the doctor gave us the ultimatum. Fortunately (God given, I believe) the duplex right next to our church building came up for sale. My husband agreed that we would buy it and move her in with us. We had no buyer set up for the old house. We just stepped out on faith. A couple men from church helped us knock down walls to make it into one household leaving Gran with her own living room to retreat to. A few women helped us paint. Others brought over meals on those long nights of renovating. We finally moved Gran in... November 2006.
Well, we still have the old house. We are paying two mortgages, two sets of taxes, two sets of insurances, and two sets of electric bills. Plus, the DH still has to mow every summer. We've had several "lookers" but no one who wanted to buy OR no one who was able to put money down... so they couldn't get a loan.
If it weren't for my twin sister (who has loaned us thousands of dollars to pay the bills), I don't know where we'd be. Eventhough I feel like I need to be home many days, I have gone back to work as a substitute teacher now that both my girls are in school. I really enjoy the work (and especially the paycheck). My twin sister comes and checks on gran and makes sure she has a good lunch on the days I work.
Anyway... sounds like a lot of groaning... but God has made sure that we haven't "gone under." We are still putting food on the table, making sure our kids have decent clothes to wear, and we've got vehicles that run that get us where we need to go. Of course now that I say that, Satan is going to rear his ugly head and try to take that away.
Anyway... my point... God will take care of us! We just have to let Him.
