Yes, I believe this thread should be active also. What happened to me I KNOW it is God!! The last week of March of this year the dr. told him he could no longer work or drive a car. The cancer had gone down into the tailbone & then into the muscles & soft tissue for him to pass away July 3rd. Anyhow, we moved into our present apartment the 1st of April & one Sun. afternoon I was out walking our puppy around the park which is across the street & a woman was walking her puppy also. We started talking & she told me her husband passed away about 2 years ago & we talked for a few min. I forgot all about the woman as I was so busy working a full time job & caring for Dennis. After Dennis passed away & I started feeling really lonely I started praying for God to bring me a woman friend into my life--a woman who had gone or is going through what I am (losing a husband). One morning a few weeks ago I was out walking Lady & this woman was walking down the street & we started talking & she told me her husband passed away about 2 years ago. I told her I had already met her & she asked for my name & said she would pray for me. I went home thinking I forgot to get her name. I told God I KNEW He would bring her out around the park again. 1 1/2 weeks ago I was out walking Lady & we were behind the lady walking her puppy so we hurried. We caught up with her & I told her what I had been praying for & she said she is the woman friend I have been praying about. We went out to lunch & fellowship together today for 3 hours. Her name is Rachel (my step-daughter's name). My cats name is Tigger & her puppy's name is Tigger. Rachel is 68 & I am 66. Her husband passed away July 3--2 years ago & my husband Dennis passed away July 3rd this year. Rachel told me today she knows God brought us together so with God ALL things are possible!!

This is a good thread! I think it should be active! Today, I had a wonderful day, and I'm truly blessed.. My husband is a minister of the Church of Christ and last Sunday there 4 young ladies that were baptized.... That's a blessing.. The church is growing numerically and spiritually. I'm soliciting prayers that the congregation see the need for a building..

I'm determined to reach all of my goals... with HIS strength! Phil. 4:13

Can I just say that I know this thread is old and all, but God must have known I needed to read it and be reminded? God has always taken care of our needs. Praise Him. emoticon

I had to come on and let you all know that I received a blessing today.

My grandmother's SIL and niece came down from Michigan and "took" my grandmother for a few days back to her house in the country. We still have all the utilities on there and various friends and family help look after the place. It will be a blessed few days to have the "Caregiver's Break." Maybe being back in her old home will rejuvenate her as well.

Hi Lonken, nice to meet you. God bless you and your husband and sister for sacrificing so much to take care of your grandmother. She is truly a blessed woman. Isn't it wonderful when God uses us to bless others?

Sounds like you all have wonderful church families.

Eventhough our church family has not really done anything like your church families have, God had kept up going.

About 5 years ago, the doctor told me that my grandmother would have to go to a nursing home or move in with family very soon. She has Alzheimers and was put on medicine that prevented her from driving. I would go to her house in the country about 45 minutes away to bring her back to "town" for her appointments. She would stay with us overnight many of those times. We only had a 2br/1ba house... and two daughters.

So, 4 years ago the doctor gave us the ultimatum. Fortunately (God given, I believe) the duplex right next to our church building came up for sale. My husband agreed that we would buy it and move her in with us. We had no buyer set up for the old house. We just stepped out on faith. A couple men from church helped us knock down walls to make it into one household leaving Gran with her own living room to retreat to. A few women helped us paint. Others brought over meals on those long nights of renovating. We finally moved Gran in... November 2006.

Well, we still have the old house. We are paying two mortgages, two sets of taxes, two sets of insurances, and two sets of electric bills. Plus, the DH still has to mow every summer. We've had several "lookers" but no one who wanted to buy OR no one who was able to put money down... so they couldn't get a loan.

If it weren't for my twin sister (who has loaned us thousands of dollars to pay the bills), I don't know where we'd be. Eventhough I feel like I need to be home many days, I have gone back to work as a substitute teacher now that both my girls are in school. I really enjoy the work (and especially the paycheck). My twin sister comes and checks on gran and makes sure she has a good lunch on the days I work.

Anyway... sounds like a lot of groaning... but God has made sure that we haven't "gone under." We are still putting food on the table, making sure our kids have decent clothes to wear, and we've got vehicles that run that get us where we need to go. Of course now that I say that, Satan is going to rear his ugly head and try to take that away.

Anyway... my point... God will take care of us! We just have to let Him.

Amen Jeneal! When we were strugglng to get by after Jason was laid off, we found gift cards for grocery stores on our pew at church more than once, and one day we came home and found about $200 in groceries on our front porch. That's one thing I remind my childen constantly in these difficult economic times: When do you ever see a faithful member of the body of Christ out on the steet, homeless? You don't! Even thought we have little to give monitarily, and not a lot of extra room, we would take a family in before we would let them live on the street.

Good topic Peggy, thank you. Wow, God has done so much for me. I will probably post on this topic a lot.

He has taught me to depend on him for my needs. My husband has been sick and out of work for most of the past 1 1/2 years. But you know what, in this time we have had food, lights, gas for the car, money for medicine, even minor unexpected car repair. God truly opened up the windows of heaven. Our blessings came from people we know and people we didn't know. Sometimes we would go to the mailbox and there would be cards with money in them. One congregation took up collection for us at their homecoming ( we weren't there and had no idea)

I tell you, I have learned two things from this: God meant what he said when he said, " I will supply all your needs" . Secondly: True Christians are loving and giving.

God has helped us through lots of hard times, but the biggest one that comes to mind is when we bought our house. My husband had recently taken a job at the hospital here in town (quitting a job at the hospital a half hour away) 6 months earlier. When we were looking at houses, he asked his boss if it was a good idea to be considering buying a house.. like if his job was secure etc. She assured him it was and that he was just being paranoid. So we made an offer on our house and 30 days later, the day we closed escrow an I picked up the keys, he was laid off. We spent our first month and a half in our first home with him on unemployment, wondering if we'd made a bad decision. He ended up taking a lower paying job at a tire store, and eventhough on paper it looked like there was no way we could make ends meet, we always seemed to have just enough to get by. I know it was becaus we put all our faith in Him to carry us through.

So far God has helped my husband beat the cancer that doctors at first told him would get him within 18 months. That was over 3 years ago. Now his doctor calls him his miracle patient.

Well GOD is working on me with my attitude. My husband retired from the Navy in july and it has been a tough adjustment change for the household. I know i can't be getting into arguments with him when he's being mean. I have to hold my tounge and slow to anger. When i see things are about to get heated i walk away. I remember what GOD says. It was a tough lesson for me but GOD ALWAYS knows what's best for us. We have to put our trust in him.

This is for us to post something God did for us or someone we know that looked impossible. This will be to encourage others who may need uplifted.
