I did not have time yesterday to check in so am doing it now. I wish I had read this earlier, before I read an email from a co-worker. I am on the Hope Bus and will change my attitude for the rest of the evening.

How are you doing with being mindful of the choices you are making? Remember that this journey to being healthy is about all aspects of your life.

Today I will be mindful of my attitude. I had a poor sleep last night and I know that I face a long day at work today. I will mind how I respond to all situations before me this day and be grateful for all that come way as they are an opportunity to learn and grow.

Elaineanne, I have learned not to regret things. Just let those choices go...and commit to doing better. When I first joined SP, I wrote to Sparkguy to thank him. The biggest lesson from him was his comment that there are inevitable moments when you go off track. He recommended a back up plan. It works...when I remember.

Little did I know how challenging my goal for today's goal would be. Just saying'.

Since my challenge seems to be mostly work, I am going to keep a positive attitude no matter what is said or how it is said. Focusing on my blessings instead. Also going to be mindful of what foods I eat since I've been off track during my move.

With all the stuff going on with the move, it is crazy city and I lost track of eating healthy. Sure am getting enough exercise with all the packing, up & down stairs, and then up & down stairs at the new place.

It's the beginning of the middle week of August.. How are you doing with being mindful in all areas of your life?

I've been having trouble getting all my water in, but have been doing well with getting walks in. I haven't been being able to track as my internet connection has been bad and have had a terrible time getting connected to Sparkpeople, I really miss it when I can't get connected here daily, it really helps to stay connected.

It's the last day of March today and the beginning of new week. How are you doing with being mindful in all areas of your life? Are you able to look back on March and see progress?

I have managed to increase the amount of exercise I am doing in March. Feel I need to look at meals I am fixing and come up with some better ones. Didn't always get in my 8 glasses of water, so need to work on that, been good about tracking.

March 31 Mindful Monday

It's the last day of March today and the beginning of new week. How are you doing with being mindful in all areas of your life? Are you able to look back on March and see progress?

Definitely being mindful of building a healthy lifestyle. Looking back at March, I have maintained the habits I developed in the 5% Winter Challenge and looking forward to the Spring Challenge. Understand that food is a friend not a foe. Exercising a minimum of 40 to 60 minutes each day.

Have worked out what I need to pack from my apartment for Big Brother/Big Sister to pick up. Now just need to collect boxes to pack the stuff. Will be donating 2 more bags of books to the local library for their book sale or shelves, depending on the titles.

Need to do paperwork for finances.

March 31 Mindful Monday

Take the time today to be mindful of the areas in your life that you still need to work on. I'm reading an excellent book called : Small Move, Big Change: Using Microresolutions to Transform Your Life Permanently by Caroline L. Arnold. See if your local library has it available...it's well worth the read.

Today I WILL be mindful of...sticking to my microresolution of eating breakfast before I leave for work. This way I will be eating mindfully and at a regular time.

I'm being mindful this evening...have a headache so am going to rest for this night...and will check email tomorrow morning before I head out for work. Need to get back on track with my new habits - too many activities since Friday...so taking back control.Unexpected lunch out today with two of our survivors...and not many healthy choices at the restaurant. Too much sodium and I can feel it. :(

If you haven't joined the monthly challenge, I challenge you to at least take today and be mindful of your intake. Maybe you don't like logging on and using the trackers on Spark...then just write everything down. When it's on paper on or on the screen it is pretty hard to ignore! It's Family Day here in Alberta, which means I don't have to go to work, I get to spend time with family! Let's make today a day where we are mindful of our attitudes and keep things positive.

When you say things to people...be MINDFUL of the tone of voice you use.
When you are chatting ... be MINDFUL of positive vs negative things being said. Don't allow yourself to get sucked into negative conversation.
When you are surrounded by others...be MINDFUL of opportunities to make someone's day with a positive spark.

How ironic. I just read my last post 11/11/13. And now, we are mindful of the same thing as we will be burying my mother in law on Friday. (She passed away Saturday, but we are waiting for military from Germany.)

A little behind this week. Mercury in retrograde made my Monday a bit stressful. The RV slides wouldn't work so had to move program indoors at the hospital. The Paul Mitchell school folks forgot they were to offer manicures to patients at the hospital and didn't show up. SOOOO...I settled down in the library at the hospital's breast health center, took some deep breaths, and refocused on the blessings in my life.

Well there was 3 g of it in my 1% millkfat cottage cheese I ate for lunch, 13 g in the yogurt I had for lunch, that's about 4 tsp. of sugar, I had a piece of bunt cake at the resident mtg, it had no frosting, but had some kind of juice poured over it and was made from a yellow cake mix, so probably had way more than I needed. I liked that information you shared, I also shared it with my DD. We do need to be more aware of what we are putting into our bodies, that's for sure. Great challenge.

Oct 7 Mindful Monday

This challenge is due to a program that my hubby and I watched on Sugar. Today I challenge you to really look at the labels on everything that you are planning on eating. 4 grams of sugar is the equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar. To most of us grams don't really mean a thing, but when you convert it to teaspoons which most of us understand, it is quite an eye-opener.

How low are you able to keep your sugar intake today?

I'm big on being prepared - it makes me less anxious! I prepared a dinner menu for the week so I don't have to scramble to decide what to make each day. I brought healthy snacks to work today. I left a pair of sneakers in my drawer at work so that I can take a walk at lunchtime.

I have my Fill-a-meter visual all ready out where I can see it and have marked my water that I've had so far as well as I have tracked my breakfast intake.
I prepared some healthy snacks to take to work with me to store in my desk drawer for those munchie moments when everyone else is partaking of all the "goodies" that seem to make their way into our department.

I will be mindful of drinking my water (I've prepared a nice container of flavored water...cucumber, limes, lemons, oranges and mint). I will listen to my body and what it needs.

It is so much easier for me to forgive others than myself...but I always try to be balanced with understanding both the other person's role and mine. I have my mom to thank for that...and without acknowledging my role, as Wanda wrote, I can never truly have forgiven the other person.

I think that I generally focus on forgiving others. I have to watch that I don't focus so much outwardly on others that I don't even acknowledge my part or guilt in any given situation. Playing the person who is justified in their anger. Dangerous way to be. It's a form of victimhood. So, today, I will be mindful of the good work of true forgiveness, which always seems to have an element of personal responsibility and self forgiveness attached to it.

Which do you find easier to do...forgive others or to forgive yourself for your part in the issue?


I think for me it's almost an equal thing. I find I mentally beat myself up over my role and although I may think I've forgiven others for their role/s, until I forgive myself, it's hard to let it go. Something I need to work harder on.

I briefly went outdoors today, quick trip to the bank and then to Costco. It's -35 with the wind chill, -24 temperature. Not a great day to be outdoors! I'll carry this challenge over to tomorrow.

I've taken to picking up poop scoop bags that people have filled and then left in the park instead of taking them to the bin. I think it is mostly people who leave them somewhere planning to come back for them, and then forgetting, or leaving the park by another route. It seems unlikely that someone would go to the trouble of bagging doggie-doo if they intended to then leave it behind instead of carrying it till they find a bin. :-)

Found one on Saturday, and one this morning.
I hope this counts as random acts of kindness. :-)

I was mindful to bring in to work my water and the healthy food for my meals this week.

I was mindful to start the day with an English Muffin and peanut butter.

I was mindful to climb stairs and take a walk.

I will continue to do so throughout the day.

I was mindful this morning to feed my spiritual side with early morning devotions.

I was mindful this morning to take care of my physical side by doing exercises and then feeding my body.

It's Mindful Monday challenge time!

Definition of mindful: keeping in mind

Make today a "mindful" day. Be mindful of your body, your food, the words you use, your actions and reactions.


How have you been mindful today?


I have been mindful of the food that I have eaten, mindful about getting all my water in, mindful of my exercises.
I've also been mindful of how my actions and reactions may effect others. When I went in to work this morning, my lovely little santa that sits on my desk was lying in pieces. My supervisor left me a note to say she was sorry but she "killed my santa" by accident. I knew that she had not done it on purpose, accidents do occur, so was able to reassure her that things happen, no real harm done. And "no" she did not have to replace him.
