Perhaps it's time to remind ourselves just why we want to live a healthy lifestyle. What makes you motivated to change the way you have been living.

1. Not wanting to be obese, it makes me tired and to feel bad about myself.
2. Wanting better health.
3. Wanting to be an active person for as long as I can.
4. Being around for my husband, children, grand and great grand kids.

1. I got tired of feeling blah all the time.
2. I knew that it was time to take care of the outside package after I had worked on the inside package.
3. I wanted to be able to freely do things with out being tired and feeling out of place.
4. I want to see my children married and be there for my grandchildren.
5. I haven't finished my life's work.

Thanks, Wanda. Didn't get home from work until late! Was up at 4:30 this morning.....way too early and sooooo tired but was determined to fit in 30 minutes of exercise before dinner! Began raining so no walk but instead did weights, resistance bands and some floor exercises...so happy I pushed myself today!
Now it's good night!

“I think I can, I think I can.”
~ The Little Engine That Could

Every time that you feel ready to just throw in the towel today, take a minute and remind yourself of the this quote. (“I think I can, I think I can.”~ The Little Engine That Could). Make the decision that if the little engine could, so can I)

Challenge yourself today to go just that little bit extra. You will be glad that you did, the satisfaction of accomplishment will give you a real boost.

Have a great day,

I agree. Holding grudges or anger only hurts you. emoticon
I have given some thought to the blessings in my life. This is something I have been trying to practice, but the accountability puts things in a different light. They are not very focused but these are the ones which came to mind:1. My significant other. He will do anything for me.
2. My cat. He is always there with unconditional love, always aware of me and my needs.
3. My mother's willingness to listen when I need to talk.
4. My psychiatrist. He is intelligent and knows and keeps track of my issues. He has confidence in my self-awareness.
5. The fact my earlier pain has resolved with movement.
6. Friends and family who encourage and support me.
7. The beautiful day, warm and sunny, but with a slight feel of fall.
8 All of those willing to risk their lives to make a better world. (military, police, firemen, philanthropists etc.)
9. My freedom to choose
10 Having my basic needs met.

Today is a day for remembering and thinking about all that you have to be grateful for.

Take the time to write out a list of things/people that you are thankful for and think on why you are thankful for them. Life is too short to hold grudges or anger in your heart....let it go.

August 28 Thinking Tuesday

I've been doing a lot of thinking about appreciation, blessings and gratefulness. Thought I might throw out a challenge to everyone to join me today in listing 10 things that you are grateful for today. I have been finding that by listing 10 things each morning that I am grateful for, re-reading that list and also mentioning why I am grateful for the item, that I am opening myself up to attracting even more positive things into my life as well as awakening the awareness of how good things are!

1. Grateful for our team leader, Wanda and the great challenges she presents us with because they get us to thinking.

2. Grateful for being a co-leader alongside Mauri and being able to share the responsibilities of helping Wanda keeping things going and encouraging members to participate with our team and keeping it positive.

3. Grateful for Spark People and all the great resources they make available to help with this journey we are all on.

4. Grateful for a friend that likes to join me for walks, which when she retires Sept. 7, we'll be even able to do more walking and talking and doing something good for our health.

5. Grateful for a dear hubby that supports me on this journey.

6. Grateful for the support and encouragement I receive here it keeps me going.

7. Grateful for the music I can get over my internet, like the oldies station and the songs I can dance to while doing my cleaning today.

8. Grateful for living in the state of MI where we don't have hurricanes.

9. Grateful for the changing of the seasons in our state and all the beauty that surrounds us, each season is special.

10. Grateful I made it to number 10, lol, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be :)

Here's my list for today: (copied from my blog)

1. I am grateful for the lessons that come my way each day that help me to better understand my life and the lives of those around me.
2. I am grateful for a brain that allows me to comprehend and appreciate my daily life.
3. I am grateful for times that I may not understand what is happening, but I can trust that God sees the bigger picture and will reveal to me what I need to know when I need to know it.
4. I am grateful for arms and legs that work so that I might go through my day without assistance from someone or something else.
5. I am grateful that I live in a country that allows to me my own choices.
6. I am grateful for having a backyard that I can grow a veggie garden in so that we can have fresh veggies.
7. I am grateful for the donation of 3 large rain barrels so that we can set up a watering system for my garden and plants.
8. I am grateful for alarm clocks that will wake me up as need so that I arrive at work on time.
9. I am grateful for having a partner to do my virtual walking with, without her I probably would have lost interest.
10. I am grateful for getting on the "cancellation list" at the hospital where I will get my MRI...this way if there is an earlier appt, I will get called.

I'm going to use the reserves in my brain to try and do some thinking this Tuesday. The concept that I have is that eating right should come naturally to me. (notice the SHOULD) The concept that I am working on this week is that I need to track as a way of life and that I can make it as uncomplicated as it needs to be. I'm just accepting tracking as I would insulin if I were to become diabetic. It is just what I need to take care of myself. I just need to K-I-S-S. keep-it-simple-sweetie (stupid is too harsh and negative for my tastes) Thanks for reminding me to check those concepts, Wanda.

Good challenge, Wanda!

My "concept" is the perception that because of my crazy work schedule right now I can't do this because my focus is blurred.

My NEW "concept" is the BELIEF that I CAN do this because it really doesn't take a lot of time to make healthy lifestyle changes and be positive!

October 19...Thinking Tuesday

Concepts...interesting word. Have you got old concepts (habits/patterns) in your life that are holding you back or creating roadblocks in your life?
Think about your concepts today and see if there isn't some updating that you can do. Establishing new concepts could be just the breakthrough that you need to move forward.

Hugs,
Wanda

My concept of "responsibility" is a deep one and one that I'm learning in many aspects is no longer serving me in a healthy way. I'm learning to say "no" without feeling guilty and learning to say "yes" to me.

This is a great challenge, thank you Mauri and Nancy for jumping in. It gave me a whole different perspective on what I was thinking as I wrote the challenge. I was thinking of my day as a whole, but I love how you both saw the immediate.
Here's my answers:
Look around and ask yourself
1. What can I see that I love?
at 4:30 am, I see my dimmly lit kitchen, gently waking me up as I sit quiet for a few minutes before starting my day. I love my kitchen, it started with an idea and has now blossomed into reality. I love my cat Kismet as she keeps me company in the morning. I love the quiet of the morning allowing me to meditate and enter my day with gratitude and wonder.
2. What else is there that I love?
Having a computer and the skills to work it. It allows me to maintain and develop friendships. I love my team mates...they are some of the best people in my life. I love knowing that although I'm heading out the door in a few minutes for work, I have a whole day ahead of me to be creative in.
3. Are there more things that I can see that I love?
I love the people that I work with. What a great fun, encouraging and supportive department I'm blessed to work in. I love seeing my youngest daughter each morning as she comes in to work. This morning I loved taking a quick peek on facebook and seeing pictures of yet more people that I love. I love that the sun will come out today. I love being alive and feeling so incredibly blessed.

1. What can I see that I love?
I see reminders of the people that share this home with me. Everybody has a little pile of "stuff", but when I think of the person the "stuff" belongs to, I feel the love.
2. What else is there that I love?
I see the things that I can use to communicate with the people that I love. I love making the connections with those people. They build me up and keep me strong.
3. Are there more things that I can see that I love?
I love the beauty of the textures that are around me. The soft flowing curtains. The smooth clean wood. The bright and rich colors. The warm sunshine that is on the lush green foliage outside my lovely leaded glass window. There is a lot to love!
Thanks for the great exercise Wanda.

My cats, Gracie & Katie...the reminders of my parents, grandmother & aunt in the pieces of furniture that were theirs...the artwork I've purchased...my books...the river flowing behind my office (that I can see from my windows)...the Atlantic Ocean at the bottom of my street...

2. What else is there that I love?

3. Are there more things that I can see that I love?
My contact lenses, which I'm unable to wear due to a scratched cornea! Clouds...rain...and I bet more as the day progresses...

Why do you want to make the changes in your life? How are you making any changes to accomplish that goal?

I want to make changes in my life to be healthier...and have the energy to enjoy life...which for me is the biggest challenge given my tendency to become easily overwhelmed and depressed.

Each morning I focus on reading positive affirmations, positive quotations, participate as often as possible in our daily challenges...and most of all, forgiving myself when I slide backwards...and just start over again!

I can hardly think this Tuesday. But I'll give it my best shot.

When I think about the changes that I want to make, it all boils down to living positively. Poor choices bring negative energy into my life and I want to live with that lovely positive glow. Every single choice determines the quality of my life. It's my life. I want to live it my way. Not a victim of circumstance or habit. Full and happy.
How am I going to do that? Get up every day and remind myself whose choice it is!

Sept 7..Thinking Tuesday

Well summer is over (sort of), most of us are getting back into a routine once again. It's time to "think" about why we are making this "lifestyle" change in our lives once again. It's time to think about why we decided to change and to remind ourselves of our goals and the what we hope to accomplish.

Why do you want to make the changes in your life? How are you making any changes to accomplish that goal?

I'm wanting to be a healthier version of me. Not just in appearances, but the whole person. I've become tired of being uncomfortable in my own skin and feeling self conscious. Through out the past couple of years of being on spark..I've made lots of changes and I've grown in confidence, I'm learning to love the person that resides within this body. I still make mistakes, but I know longer allow those mistakes to tear me down. I've eliminated 70 pounds and although I still have more that I want to eliminate..I'm not rushing to get there...slow and steady wins the race. I'm making changes that will be life long changes not just temporary. I've taken back control of my life...accepted responsibility for my choices and as a result I'm making better choices. My attitude is becoming more and more and attitude of gratitude and positive. Am I happy with where I am? YES! Do I want to continue to become all that I know I can be? YES! Am I done? NO! I'm a work in progress.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Take the time today to think of others. You know the people that pop into your mind as you go through your day...well, stop and consider that they have been brought to mind for a reason. Offer up an encouraging word on their behalf. Be mindful of not only your words but your actions today.

By focusing on others, be in turn become blessed.

Once again I'm a day late. emoticon

JOHN, you have my sympathy on the loss of your friend. People - we - sometimes have no idea of the impact we make on others. His son will learn while he grieves of the blessings he received with the tender loving care and time spent wiht his dad. My prayers with you, Joan, and his family.

SHIRL, I have no doubts your e-mail lifted her spirits. It is one of the very special gifts you share with the rest of us. I will keep her in my prayers.

I had a very selfish Tuesday - I was thinking about myself. With my job loss looming ahead of me on June 30th and having to expend cash for a new television, I did a lot of thinking on how to get back to my positive thinking and practices. Does that count as having met this challenge? Hmmm...

John, sorry about the loss of your friend, how wonderful he took that time to spend with his son and I am sure that'll mean a lot to his son now that his father is gone.

There is a young woman at our church who is going through a very painful time right now and I sent her an encouraging e-mail, she really needs lifting up to the Lord at this time. She e-mailed me back and said my e-mail was one of the most positive ones she had received.

I had a friend of close to thirty years pass away last night. He died from pancreatic cancer. He was not only a friend but he worked with me at one time as did his father. When we moved from Louisville to Owensboro, he listed and sold our house.

I thought a lot about him today. He was a very easy going guy and one thing I will always recall was that every spring he would give me a list of days he was going to miss work. Those were the days he and his son would go to baseball games. He told me he only had one son, and he would only be young once and work would always be there. He enjoyed life and everyone around him enjoyed it when they were with him.

I found out early this morning that he had passed. I was sad but most of today I just thought about him and as Joan said "what a nice guy" he was. I hope when i decide to leave this planet, the same can be said about me.

March 16 Thinking Tuesday!

It's been awhile since we've had a Thinking Tuesday.

Take the time today to think of others. You know the people that pop into your mind as you go through your day...well, stop and consider that they have been brough to mind for a reason. Offer up an encouraging word on their behalf. Be mindful of not only your words but your actions today.

Have a fantastic day,

Hugs,
Wanda

Thinking Tuesday Dec 15th

Think about what you can do for others today. Don't let "I don't have time" to interfer in your day. You will be amazed to find how your time expands when you take the opportunity to help someone else. Have a wonderfully blessed day. As you bless, so shall you be blessed.

Hugs,
Wanda
