Today express thanks to those who are usually not noticed by others...

Say thank you to the person...
...at your coffee shop drive-thru window
...holds a door for you
...at the dry cleaners
...host/hostess at a restaurant
...wait staff, even if it took a bit longer to be served
...trash collectors
...lawn care folks
...your boss, co-worker, assistant
...checkout clerk, bagger, etc. at the grocery store.

Any other suggestions?

Nov 27 Friday Challenge

Something a little different for the challenge today. As we enter into the season of giving let's really embrace what the season is about in a wee bit of a different way...Forgiveness.

Maybe you have been hanging onto some resentment or unforgiveness towards someone or even yourself. It's not serving you...and it's time to let it go. Give yourself the gift of being set free from unforgiveness, whether it's forgiving yourself or forgiving someone else.

Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting and it doesn't mean that someone else is right and you are wrong...it means just letting go of a bitterness and negativity that doesn't serve your higher purpose.

Make the decision today to no longer allow this negative energy be a part of your life...freedom is such a precious gift.

I am thankful for the friendships that I have developed over the years on Sparkpeople. It is such a blessing being a part of each other's lives.

I am thankful for the opportunity to go to an event last evening that portrayed the amount of artistic talent that is in Canada.

I am thankful for good roads to drive on even with the snow that we have had.

I am thankful for the gift of each day that I am blessed with.

Other than family and friends, for whom we are all thankful, for what are you thankful?


I am very thankful for the rain that has started to fall. It is so desperately needed. The grass was turning yellow as we have had water restrictions in place. Those have now been lifted. I am thankful for the my job and Garry's job that enables us to receive paychecks with which allows us to have our needs met. I'm thankful for the drop in interest rates as we will be needing to renew our mortgage in the fall. The drop will allow us to keep our payment the same, but lower the number of years left to pay it off. I'm thankful for the joy of being alive and healthy and for the motivation to keep on improving myself.
So many blessings on a daily basis.

So many things to be thankful for! My doctor and physical therapist, and the rest of the medical staff who have taken such wonderful care of me. My family, especially Jim, who have babied me and pushed me and cared for me so lovingly. My friends and the surprising people who have brought food, entertained, and checked up on me. My comfortable recliner where I will be sleeping for quite a while, apparently. For my understanding and helpful boss who, above all else, wants me to be healthy. I could add to this list endlessly!

Other than family and friends, for whom we are all thankful, for what are you thankful?

Thankful for the great variety of healthy fruits and veggies that are available at the grocery stores and the farmer markets in the summer, what a blessing.

Thankful for sites like Sparkpeople, that encourage, inspire and give us the tools to help us lead healthier lives.

I am thankful for the energy I've had this week to get through the work week and accomplish all that I have had to do at work before leaving on a holiday.

I am thankful for the being able to take some holiday time and spend it enjoying family, friends and watching my youngest get married.

I am thankful for the blessing of good health, the motivation to keep on improving my health, and the ability to walk.

Be THANKFUL today for someone who has touched your life.

Mauri...I too want to give thanks for the blessing of knowing Marla and sharing in some small way her life. Marla was not only an inspiration to me but a wonderful friend whom I will miss greatly. I have been so blessed to be able to count her as one of my friends on this Earth and look forward to her now watching over me as I continue my Earth journey.

Be THANKFUL today for someone who has touched your life.

Today I give thanks for our teammate MARLA7 who died yesterday after battling end-stage renal disease for several years, causing cardiac issues. She had what was thought to be successful carotid artery surgery on Tuesday, with a valve replacement scheduled for next week. Alas, while sitting up with her family yesterday, she had a heart attack and has left us.

I believe Marla was one of the first members of this team. She had deep faith, a great sense of humor, kindness, and love and shared them via SP with us. Though my heart is heavy today, I am so THANKFUL that our paths crossed and that our hope to meet after a kidney transplant someday never came to be. She enriched my life and I look forward to her being in my band of angels, watching over me.

Yes, sad but so filled with gratitude.

Remember how you feel when someone thanks you for serving them or doing something for someone. Pay it forward...


I am thankful for all the prayers that have been said on behalf of my SIL. She is doing pretty good. Hope to talk to her next week in person. Also thank you to all of you for your positive attitudes and willingness to support and encourage. Many hugs.

Speaking of snow, I am thankful we only got a dusting and not suppose to snow tomorrow when our family will be traveling here for our family Thanksgiving.

Thankful for our warm apartment.

Thankful for Mario our kitty who gives us lots of love.

Thankful for Wanda having her surgery done and now recovering.

Thankful for all my spark community.

Thankful one pie made and two to go and half of the eggs boiled and peeled for deviled eggs.

Thankful for family that pitch in and bring food and help clean up, makes it easier for this ole lady, lol.

Thankful for our military for their service and the many holidays they miss with their family and friends.

1. I am thankful that I have not had to shovel snow this week.
2. I am thankful that the icy parking lot at work has not managed to trip (slip) me up.
3. I am thankful for friends that lift my spirits and help me to keep focused on all the bright things in my life this week.
4. I am thankful that I was able to have a nap when I got home from work yesterday. These early morning starts have been a struggle the past while.
5, I am thankful that Garry has been able to go back to work full-time and that his leg is healing.

Is there someone who has been supportive, inspiring, kind in your life? Make today a THANKFUL THURSDAY by thanking that person...even if it is something you've done for yourself.

For me it will be two friends. One is my friend Maribeth who is always there for me, checks on me, and helps in ways that seem ordinary to her but to me are magnaminous.

The other is my friend Laura, who, like me, is having a difficult time this season. She came up with the idea that we are accountable to each other - so we decide on a task to do for 15 minutes and then let each other know. At the end of the day, if we haven't heard, we will check in with each other by phone or text to encourage that it get down.

This Thursday I am thankful for:
1. Being able to do preparation exercises for meditation
2. Being able to meditate for more than 30 minutes through out the entire day
3. Having left overs so I didn't have to prepare anything

1. Great Fall day- sunny but cool
2. Grand-daughter here for the day and what a joy she is-
3. I was worried I had rheumatoid [spelling]arthritus but looks like it will be oste kind- hey have to have a little silver lining in my thoughts.
4. am pretty much staying to the healthier lifestyle this week- not to hard after all
5.hubby and I are getting lots done with our fall cleanup around the yard-l

For those of us in the midst of holiday madness, be THANKFUL today that you are able to create and accomplish a to-do list...and think of someone whom you can help during this season - in any way...It can be as small as a phone call (no emailing allowed!) to a visit or running errands for a neighbor or elderly family member...You know what you can do.

I am thankful (replacing complaining) for my holiday errands!

Tonight I will surprise my 86 yo landlord and landlady by running an errand for them this week.

1) I got to work in time for the staff meeting, which meant getting up much earlier than usual.

2) My daughter got signed up (Thanks DH) for social security.

3) My EEG was not as messy or troublesome as I had feared.

4) My sister came over and helped us understand some things about disabilities and guardianship.

5) I got another meeting out of the way, for a group I am resigning from in May. Only 2 more left! I give thanks for this group, they are doing good work, and I have learned from them, just not a good fit for me right now.

Thanks for the awesome challenge!

1. I woke up, did devotions, then exercised for 90 min.

2. Was asked by a neighbor if I could take her to her hair appointment, was glad I was able to.

3. Ate a healthy lunch.

4. Bought a very colorful skirt and when I got it home found a few tops in my closet that will go with it just fine.

5. Always and forever thankful for this site and the great people I connect with.

3. Although very busy at work, mega shipment arrived again today...I'm thankful to have a job that I love doing.
4. I was able to leave work on time today.

It's been awhile since we practiced the original challenge Wanda laid down when she started this thread. I know it will do me well in these difficult days...so thought we could do it together!

Your challenge today is to list 5 things that you are thankful for that occurred today!

1. Gracie, Katie, and I are all alive today!

2. The bakery got my complicated zeppole order correct!

3. An agency with whom I work is interested in creating a position for me if they can secure funding.

4. I connected my new TV with no problems (just one call to cable co. to confirm I knew which signal source to choose - I was right)! This is why I didn't finish posting these last evening.

5. G-d blessed me once again!

How lovely ... I was already feeling so grateful today. Now I get to list the many reasons! I am thankful for ...

1- Friends and loved ones and their unconditional love.
2- The sun in the sky and the warm summer air.
3- A roof over my head, no matter how humble. So many don't have that luxury.
4- My family's daily bread. Another basic human need so many do not get.
5- The many freedoms that I often take for granted, that many do not have. I watch the political unrest in Iran and my heart breaks. I went to jury duty this morning and was reminded exactly WHY I should be so very thankful that I live in a democracy.

Oh, Nancy! I waited to do it today! Hahahaha...

1. The $400 repair (motor + labor) to fix my car's moonroof is only costing me a $50 deductible and being covered by the extended warranty - which I thought I was stupid to buy! HA!

2. Gracie and Katie are in my life!

3. I still have a job - so far.

4. I survived Pink Spirit Program!!

". . . Today is Thankful Thursday." I was hoping that it wasn't a mistake and that I would get my post in ahead of schedule instead of playing catch up. Oh well.

1. An easy commute to work.
2. The cafeteria owner appreciated my business by giving me a 56 cent discount on my tea!
3. I found out that there will be overtime available starting tomorrow, at time and a half pay. Woohoo!
4. The weather is beautiful and there is a cardinal singing outside my window right now.
5. The baby Blue Herons are back to roost in George Bush Park. My friends!

I'm thankful this Tuesday because:

1. I didn't wake up to snow today!
2. My backyard is now 600 square feet bigger, due to my husband completing the new portion of fence this weekend!
3. My five-year-old daughter keeps me laughing... sometimes even in spite of myself.
4. I have a sister-in-law who is more 'sister than 'in-law'!
5. I am nearly back at the point where I can resume my 'normal' level of activity.

With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

Too funny...I just realized that I had written down Thursday instead of Tuesday. lol Honest, I'm not wishing the week away.

My Five things for Thankful Tuesday:

1. Still on holidays. (back to work tomorrow)
2. Laundry machines are reconnected and my laundry is now all done.
3. Lunch out with Kaeli and Shy.
4. Plumber has confirmed that he will be here tomorrow to reconnecting the half bath plumbing.
5. I'm gaining flooring space back in my office and family room. Things are finally beginning to return to normal.

1. I started the day off right with daily devotions.

2. Got my exercises all in today.

3. Fixed lunch and ate at home today, no fast food.

4. Have been able to get on-line so far today.

5. After a week of being derailed I am back on track.

That's what I am thankful for this Tuesday.
