Moving Monday

Your challenge today is to get your body moving regardless of how well you can move it, make the choice to do some activity. The old adage of "if you don't use it, you lose it" is very true.

For every hour that you are awake today, make 5 minutes of that time an active time. Do some stairs, walking, stretching, arm strengthening, whatever it takes to move your body.

Going to see if Margaret wants to meet for a walk at ALIVE this afternoon, seeing it's going to be a wet day, will try and get other activities throughout the day.

Did level 1 & 2 in exercise class this morning which combined is 45 min. Thought I was going to be exercising by myself, but one lady came a little late, and she didn't want to do the 2nd session but another lady was out in the lobby and she came in and did the 2nd session with me, otherwise I'd of done it by myself.

Feb 24 Moving Monday!

Set a goal for yourself for getting your body moving today. Tell us what your goal is and then how you are going to get there.


My goal is to walk a minimum of 3.5 miles today. I will use the stairs at work and also make sure that I get up from my desk every 30 minutes to take a short walk. Not only will it be good for my knee, it will be good for the brain!

Feb 10 Moving Monday!

I'm challenging all of you to get your bodies moving. Even if you are sitting down you can be moving your body towards a healthier state. Your challenge today is to get at minimum 30 minutes of exercise done. If you need to break it up into smaller pieces, that's ok, just do it!

It's 5:41 pm and I've managed to do 7378 steps so far today. Woo Hoo. I even was able to go down all 28 steps at work like a big girl, no toddling down one at a time. So proud of myself.

Jan 27 Moving Monday!

Time to shake our bootys and get our bodies moving.

Your challenge today is to get your body moving. When the weather outside is cold and miserable, we tend to want to hibernate. No matter where you live whether it's an apartment building or a home, you can still get some walking in. If you have a pedometer then use it, it not make a solid attempt at manually counting your steps. The challenge is to get a minimum of 5000 steps in today. March on the spot if you have to, walk up and down the hall way of your apartment building, do the stairs, just move your body.
If you are at work, again be creative and get your body moving. Instead of emailing or phoning your co-worker, get up and walk over to see them. Post back here this evening with your total of steps.

Jan 20 Moving Monday!

After so much walking yesterday, my body just wants to rest today and do nothing. I'm thinking that it really needs to keep moving so that I can build up more endurance!

My challenge today to everyone is to take 5 to 10 minutes out of every hour and move your body in some fashion. Walk, stretch, do push ups, what ever it take to let your body know that you are the one in charge and you are choosing to have a moving Monday!

I WILL move my body every hour. That is my commitment for today.

It's been awhile since we have done a Moving Monday...time to get things moving again!

Your challenge today is to get your body moving. Even if you are sitting you can be moving your body. Get creative about using those muscles. Try out some of the get exercises that Sparkpeople posts, create your own exercise routine, go for a walk, do some stretches...what ever it takes to get your body moving...just do it!

This morning, I have been able to move my neck without it cracking. I plan to make a slow transition, keeping active as possible. Small steps, walking, stretching, and possibly some recumbent. I am so grateful to be able to move-I am learning not to take the basics for granted.

I did emoticon not move much today. Not officially anyway. I did a great deal of cleanup
and began much-needed organizing around the house. I visited the chiropractor for some adjustments and hope that will help me to get back into my routine.
I am thankful for getting some things done,
Getting the claws of my cat shortened so they don't dig into my skin,
Having my lawn mowed and many other parts of the day.
It is really true that it makes life so much better when it is the positives we maintain our focus. emoticon

August 27 Moving Monday

What are you doing to move your body today? Don't under estimate the simply exercises, they count too!


1. I use the stairs at work rather than the elevators.
2. I am getting up from my desk frequently to take a small walk (not only for my knee's benefit, but because it reminds me to walk)
3. I will walk to see the co-workers that I need to communicate with rather than emailing or phoning them.
4. I will continue to do walking once I am at home, tending my garden, walking to the mail box etc.

Going to wash dishes and ride the stationary bike for 30 min.

I'm aiming to get in shape enough to be able to hike to Havasu Falls, AZ by the summer of 2015! I hope to become a certified personal trainer and/or a nutrition coach someday!

Life doesn't come with a remote, you have to get up and change it yourself.

Chum I also think you can find them on your fitness page under strength training exercise, do browse and click on other exercise, if you don't belong to the Jan. Jump Start Team.

I am going to do some cleaning, then will do some exercises.


Ok, I went to check it out on the fitness page and I couldn't do what I told you, I have before, but it wasn't there today, but there must be some where to go for the different videos, I'll keep looking.

Back again, go to top of page click on Healthy Lifestyle under that click on videos and it takes you to a page with exercise videos on it.

I am moving albeit slowly due to injuring my ankle. I was actually able to get in a 45 min Kettlebell work out & going to do some of the January Challenge videos!

I believe so, after I get back from the dentist for my cleaning this morning. Glad it's not near as cold here as where you and Mauri are, cold enough though. I do believe shivering does burn calories, lol.

Ok...I'm thinking that where I live, if you stay still for too long, you are likely to freeze in place...there fore a Moving Monday sounds real good *grin*


Your challenge today:

For every hour that you are awake, take 10 minutes and get moving. Climb those stairs, walk on the spot, yoga, stretching...whatever you need to do...just move your body. Can you do it????

Off to a good start. Did 10 min. Of exercise at 5 am...then I was about to do my jump start video and cardio...instead got an email from work to add 24 events to the website ASAP...hmmm...holiday?...so will do them in about an hour.

Well so far I've ran the sweeper, did some dusting and moped the kitchen and bathroom. I still need to do my two challenges exercise the jump start one and the 10 min. daily exercise one. I don't really feel like doing as I am having weather related problems, but will do it anyway, it might even help me to feel better. We certainly need to keep moving on a daily basis, so this is a great challenge, thanks Wanda.

January 2, 2012. Moving Monday!

Okay the holiday season in almost over and it's time to re-focus on our healthy selves. Maybe you slowed down a bit in your exercise, maybe you weren't as carefully on what you have been eating and perhaps over indulged just a little. That's okay...this is real life. The trick is to not make these past few weeks a habit of unhealthy living.

Today is Moving day. No matter where you are get your body moving. Think about how much you moved your body yesterday...try to improve on that today! If you have difficulty walking, that doesn't let you off the hook. Sit in a chair and do some chair exercises. Spark has some excellent ones available for you to preview and try out.

Goal to work towards today: For every hour that you are awake, take 10 minutes of that hour and exercise. Do it in 10 minutes increments or do it all at once, JUST DO IT!

Feb 07 and its another MOVING MONDAY!

It's time to show our bodies how much we appreciate all that they do for us!

Take 5 minutes out of every hour you are awake today and "move" your body. Take it 5 minutes at a time or bunch it all together...just move!

A great way to watch the news or your favorite TV program...exercise while watching! Show your body some appreciation for all it's hard work.

LOL, nope wasn't glued to a casino chair...I'm a terrible gambler...hate not having something to show for my money...instead, the guys went golfing and the girls went walking and touring. I definitely got lots of moving into my day. We walked for 4 hours solid just gawking at all the sights.

Your challenge today is to find ways of moving your body. If your job entails sitting at a desk...then take 5 minutes and do some chair exercises...get up and walk for 5 minutes..just move! If you day is spent at home...then find excuses for getting some extra steps in. Do you have stairs in your home...then put them to good use...use them to get some extra steps in. Put some stretch into your daily activities. Put some added effort.

Just move your body and see if you don't feel better.

What are you doing to treat your body today?



I'm getting down on my hands and knees and I'm washing my floors. (They never feel clean until I wash them this way)
I'm going to walk around the grocery store and pick out some healthy foods.
I'm going to move my body as much as I possibly can today...that is my treat to my body for it's great service to me.

It seems rather appropriate to call today Moving Monday...at least in my world, seeing as we begin moving our library today. lol


Today your challenge is to move. Move the accumulation of "stuff" that is keeping you stuck or weighted down. All it takes is one bit at a time. Sort it out : Keep, Store or Get rid of. Ask yourself " is this serving me any longer"...if the answer is no, then take the appropriate action.

Have an awesome day...remember you need to start, just recognizing what needs to be done and doing nothing gets you nowhere.

May 17 Moving Monday!

How are you moving your body today? By continuing to move through whatever your day brings you, you are a success.



I'm moving my body somewhat more slowly this morning, but I do believe that once it's limbered up a bit, it will move less stiffly! I will be doing more stretching exercises as I sit at my computer at work today. I will get up and take a short walk more frequently, just to keep my body active. I will mentally give myself positive affirmations for the joy of having movement...stiff or otherwise.
I am worth it!

August 24 Moving Monday!

Let's stop procrastinating and put some moving into our lives today. For every hour that you are standing or sitting around...take 10 minutes and walk! Climb some stairs, park at the far end of the shopping mall from where you want to go, do some jumping jacks, take the dog for a walk around the block, do a little dancing...whatever it takes to get that blood flowing and oxygenized. Come on team, we can do it!

Deby so glad to see you posting.

I was able to get my exercise in this morning did my leg exercises which take about 25-30 min. and did 30 min. on stationary bike. Hoping to get more in this evening. Moving and a grooving.

May 4, it's Moving Monday.

Get out there and get some movement into your day. Do some jumping jacks, gardening, walking, running, dancing...whatever it takes to get your body moving. Try and get 30 minutes of exercise in. Break it up into smaller sessions if that helps...just do it.

Have a wonderfully active day.

I did lots of stairs today at home and then lot's of finger exercises as I spent the bulk of my day typing in orders. lol I did manage to get some walking in place done while watching the news, but now I'm tired and heading for bed shortly.

Well my DD woke me up around 5 a.m. with a phone call wanting to know if I could keep Caleb today, his tummy was hurting, so I got dressed and did my leg and arm exercises, they take about 30 min. and then I rode my bike for 30 min. Will be riding the bike again this evening for another 30 min. and doing my arm exercises again with my dumbbells, so I got some moving in today. We did get the rain later today but not any storms, suppose to rain tomorrow too. Hope you got in the groove and moooved today.

April 27...Moving Monday.

Moving Monday means just that...get moving. Find someway of fitting in some exercise. Walk, jog, skip, dance, do some heavy cleaning, strength exercise. What ever it is just make the decision to do it. Log your time and let's see how many minutes we can accumulate today.


Your moving can be done in small allotments or all at once, your choice.

I danced for 20 minutes while watching the news and then finished the news off with some walking in place.

Did my leg exercises this a.m. and rode the stationary bike for 30 min. A good start for moving Monday.

April 13 Moving Monday!

Let's shake off the sluggishness of the long weekend and get these bodies moving. Take yourself for a walk around the block, dance around the living room, use the stairs, whatever it takes to get you moving. Be your body's best friend.

I had my treatment, napped when I got home... but moved it on my Wii.... I did the basic training... then some balancing & aerobic exercises on it. It hardly feels like exercise at all.. more like FUN!

I didn't know that it was moving Monday, but it turned out to be so. I had decided that I would be running up the stairs on my way up to my parking spot on the sixth floor of the parking garage. At the end of the day, I don't care if I work up a little sweat. I'm just going home. Got my heart pumping good and gave me a nice burst of energy.

I did the stairs several times at home today...we live in a 4 level split. I did lots of walking at work, going from one spot to the next...many of the trips I choose to make rather than emailing or phoning. I'm hoping to get in an outdoor walk yet this evening.

So far this morning 15 min. on stationary bike before taking DH for blood work. BBL

Another 15 min. on stationary bike before lunch and 30 min. of leg exercises and 50 crunches.

Another 15 min. on stationary bike before supper.
Going to try and get my arm exercises in before bedtime.

It's Moving Monday...so come on everyone...let's get moving!

Moving that body off that couch...take it around the block, take it to the gym, take it to the pool, just get it moving.
It you have a Wii...get those hips moving doing the hula hoop, boxing, what ever gets you moving...just do it!
No Wii....how about the stairs...be creative and start moving. Do it in 10 minutes increments, spend 20 or 30 ...however you want to get moving...the results are worth it!
