I will be at the Doctor's office in a little bit and I will work hard to be patient and thoughtful as I wait to be seen (historically very long waits at this office). And more importantly, I will do little thoughtful things for my household today. Fold someone else's laundry, tidy up the joint, cook a healthy dinner and clean up the kitchen without griping. I may even be nice to the customer service rep from AT&T that I have to question about our bill! We shall see. Thoughtful is the goal!

I've worked really hard the last few days and been very active with cleaning and exercising so today will take a break and take a friend to lunch, it's been a while since we've gotten together to do anything, this will be a very enjoyable treat.

Call a relative or friend who lives out of town.

Help a neighbor rake those leaves.

Pay it forward for a stranger.

We are almost ready for a new month, let's think about what we can do to shake things up for June.
How can you drink those 8 glasses of water?
What can you do to exercise more consistently?
Which veggies & fruits should you add to get missing nutrients?
What can you do to adjust your intake of protein, lower sugar intake, etc. without feeling deprived?
Will a reward system help?

I am going to make an attempt to have a salad or a smoothie for at least one of meals each day in June. I always feel so much better when I have something light for a meal rather than anything heavy.
I will purchase my fresh fruit each Sunday and have it all cut up and ready to grab for my lunches. Same with my veggies.
Now that the weather is nicer and the sidewalks are great...walking outdoors is a great option.

I am going to do the cabbage-soup-diet in June, that helps me eliminate sugar, flour, sodium and fats and will give me the kick start I really need to get back on track, plus I always have more energy when I do this plan.

I have a goal that I need to reach monthly in my walking in order to meet my year end goal of 2000 miles. I didn't quite make it last month, but it's looking good for this month. I need a minimum of 167 miles each month.
I will likely join Shirl in at least another session of the cabbage diet in March and probably one more in April. I am determined to keep moving the scale down and look and feel good once again. Next time I will be better prepared to take on the challenge of the 7 days.
My reward for being motivated will be to be able to wear all my summer clothes!

Last year I found the 5% Challenges that are seasonal. Their preparation activities have helped me to set realistic goals & it worked. This year my goal is to turn them info habits.

Let's continue the spirit of the holidays by being thoughtful today...it can take any form.

Perform a random act of kindness.

If you have a neighbor who isn't able to clear sn*w or get to an appointment or store, maybe you can take them or run the errand for them.

If you are one of those folks to whom UPS or FedEx didn't deliver before Christmas, instead of getting angry, spend time remembering/reminding how we truly should measure the holiday.

Do something nice for yourself! Give yourself the day off from running errands or doing chores at home.

Any other ideas?

Is there someone for whom you'd like to do something to pick up their day, going through a difficult time, even if it is you? Make today THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY by taking action and doing it. When someone says something nice about what I have done or who I am, it can change my day. Be THOUGHTFUL about changing someone's day.

Today I will reach out to a few of our survivors who are on the periphery because of their quirky or needy personalities. This is our big weekend, Flames of Hope(tm): A Celebration of Life. It starts tomorrow evening and runs through mid-afternoon Sunday. These women, because of their quirks, can be a bit lonely. I'm going to invite them to spend some time with me on the Hope Bus and hopefully make them feel that they are not alone.

Since I talk about work & this weekend so much, if you'd like an idea, here's a link to our crazy IMAX movie we made & ran at the local IMAX last week. I would start it at 4:15, if you don't have lots of time...and definitely at least get to our "gypsy." I am the person who speaks of the Starfish Project.

Be THOUGHTFUL to others day - lend a helping hand, compliment someone, offer thanks to people in service industries, do something to surprise those you love - and then do something THOUGHTFUL for yourself.

When I was younger I was always annoyed when my grandmother called me several times in one day or if I saw her pass by my place without stopping. She was simply checking on me one way or the other. But as she has gotten older and her health has worsened over the years,I have learned how to appreciated it knowing that she is doing okay. I never knew her fear for storms until a few years ago. When the weather is forecatsed to be real bad, she usually stays with one of her daughters. She stayed with my aunt the past two nights but is home tonight. I just got of the phone reassuring her that the weather will be okay but she can call me anytime.

Mauri...for me it's the "calories" that I end up drinking. (and no not alcohol ones). It's the iced capps, the smoothies, the cold drinks on a hot day!

As Wanda wrote, we can tell summer is on our heels. Have you thought what you need to adjust in your lifestyle to stay your course?

For me it is keeping an eye on those summer foods like ice cream, frozen drinks, and cookout foods.

Since most of us seem to be in sn*w zones, whether in the US or Canada, be THOUGHTFUL today...

Check on a neighbor
If you are going to the food mart or pharmacy, check if a neighbor or friend may need something while you are there
If you're able, help an elderly neighbor clear a path

Think about things you might be able to do for someone who is preparing or affected by a storm.

First Thursday of 2013...Be thoughtful of others today.

Before speaking, think of how it will sound.
Help someone at work or at home.
Perform a random act of kindness for a stranger.
Visit someone today.
If you don't work and are able to get out of your home or apartment, volunteer for an hour or two at a local non-profit organization, a soup kitchen, your church, etc.

From personal experience, I know the reward is much greater to my spirit than to the person for whom I do something.
