Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas

I have been added as a Team Leader for the 50+ members with 10-24 pounds to lose Team. I enjoy and cherish the members on this team and really enjoy the topics on the threads. During the past year I lost 16 pounds and am working to keep it off now. I know that part of the success was being involved in this community so I am grateful that you are all here. MACI has not been posting and I know we all keep her in our thoughts, so I have been added as a Team Leader. We are such an active Team it doesn’t need a leader but it does help with some of the housekeeping tasks. Please feel free to email me if you have questions or suggestions. Otherwise it is fun, friendship, encouragement and support as usual.

emoticon A DECEMBER TOPIC for our 50+ CHAT THREAD: emoticon

Someone said: Christmas is "coming like a freight train..." I like that. (I crouch in the corner til it passes.)

Why post a new thread when we have a discussion thread to use for different topics? I want everyone who is on any of the team threads to be able to talk in one place about this.

There seems to be some interest in discussing who our team leaders are and have the folks actually participating on the team. With MACILYN and FIONA gone, does it matter whether we have team captains? I don't know. I didn't think about it.

I'm always doing volunteer work for Nicotine Anonymous (nicotine-anonymous.org) and between that and sparks, big parts of my day are eaten. Notice the choice of words.

Wonder why Fiona just slipped away? Her posts were getting fewer and far between. But no matter. Whatever ideas any of you have on this topic are appreciated. What does the 50+ team want, if anything, to do about official team leadership? Or unofficial leadership?

I never knew what the team leaders did other than create topics for threads. Clue me in.

Any volunteers? Let's post all conversation on this topic in our Chat Thread, shall we? Thank You!

in loving service,
Dale

What's eating me today is my heel spur. I hurt my foot playing tennis on labor day - ugh, it still hurts. I've been to the doctor (twice) and my chiropractor. I still am not supposed to do any weight bearing exercises. It is so hard to lose without exercising.

What's eating me today is my lack of control when eating out, especially when it comes to the sweets. I eat so squeaky clean 90% of the time. I don't keep sweets around so I am not tempted, but all reason flies out the door when eating out. UGH!!

What's eating me today is loose baggy skin. The fat has gone from my upper arms but they look much worse than they did when they were fat and solid, now they hang like deflated balloons. Will the skin ever shrink down? Since no one else mentioned this problem I took it for granted I that my skin would shrink with my fat, but it hasn't. I swim regularly so all that arm movement should have helped. What else can I do. I

Karen, I have been so busy I forgot to spark for awhile, the gkids have been her all the time, we are helping my DD with them, their dad wouldn't see them until yesterday, he lives across the street from us, so we have been the backup while my DD works. It's all working out, slowly but surely, thanks for the kind words.

We are taking the gkids camping tomm, we leave in 4 hrs so this is a quick msg, I will be back to my sparking again on Tues (at least that's my plan) I am going to have to learn to make my sparktime a priority again. when I don't spark I lose focus and gain wt, I want to be in shape and feel good so the sparkings gonna have to take precidence.

Today no problems, life feels good, feeling abit heavy but with alittle bit of self control it will pass. Have lots of fun things planned while camping, playing in a tennis tournament (I won last yr) hiking, ziplineing, horseback riding,, fishing, playing in the lake etc. If I do 1/2 of the fun things planned it will be a fun filled 4+ days. Cya Tues!

Oh my, good riddance to one of the best losers of all time, eh?! Wow, you and yours can live long without that kind of trouble around. Just the scene you had to go through at the court today would second that over and over! I feel for you of what you've had to go through with being a mother and grandmother. You poor thing! No wonder you turned to eating through all that mess. Well, lets hope that that can all be behind you to the point that you can get on with your own life! At least for how you dreamt it to be. I'm wishing you good, loving days that will make you happy and healthy. Hugs to you! emoticon

Hey Karen, the court stuff went just as my DD wanted it, she was happy w/50/50 custody but her hubs has been ruthless to her and neglectful w/the kids, she acquaits it all up to alcholism, well the courts recommended he lose his 50/50 status and get professional supervised visitation and only 5% custody, she made a deal that she would only do the courts suggestion for 30 days w/proof that he is going to AA 5X awk and in ongoing therepy for his anger/abuse issues, she suggested his girlfriend be the supervisor which makes it free for him. i think she was way nice the court were ready to hammer him. He has been cruel/drunk insane the past 2 yrs since their brkup.

Don't get me started( I am way better w/this now) but he quit working the day she left him, and stalked, harrased, cornered, slashed tires etc until :"finally" 2 yrs later she got a restraining order, they ordered it for 4 yrs. She left a 10 yr marriage w/a bill for over 65,000 dollars owed to him from her retirement, not a picture or pan to her name and owing him child supt, alimony all the time he has a long list of alcholic insidences w/the justice system. she is an ER Nurse. He claimed he was the stay at home dad, all the while our family always took care of the kids while she worked because he was the stay at home Drunk! Oh well, what cha gonna do, While going through this I gained 28 pds. Today I am losing it one small oz at a time. Iwhen the courts take his rights away, she keeps giving them back. Her life, her family, her story!

My life is great as long as I stay out of hers! that's my plan!

Oh my Maci, I'm sure wishing you tons of luck with your DD's custody drama. That's something that I would never want to get into. Not fun, but it's so nice that you can support your DD! Sweet of you too!

I'm doing pretty good this week and I'll do my best for it to continue it like this, because I do know that this is for life. Oh, and I love those Mc D's cone too!! It tastes so good on a hot day and I love the fact that it's mostly doable and so much less guilt than a DQ blizzard! Those things are horrific!! Oh, and I love their Pecan Turtle Blizzard, oh of course just the small, but I can't go there most of the time. Maybe for a real rare treat with the family, but hardly ever! Now, putting 1/2 away in a box to go at restaurants, I haven't gotten that good yet. I usually order a pretty healthy salad and that would be tough to pack away. I'll remember that more though when I order something I can divide, like a sandwich. I have done that somewhat, and it really makes it more doable to have the other 1/2 later, like with a Subway footlong. I will have the other 6" for supper. My hubs will alot of the time, clean my plate too, so that works also. Thanks for all your support. I really appreciate it and I'm wishing you good luck in your lifetime commitment too! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi karen, thanks for writing me back, I love the back and forth, it sounds like you have some good plans to stick to, awesome, I get you, I have a major sweet tooth too! One of my fav sweet things is a Mc D's cone 150 cals and it comes in a sing serv size so you can't over eat it unless of course you don't drive away fast enough and get another one! teehee. I find I can handle just about any food if there is no way to get another serving, even in restaurants I always pack 1/2 of my food away in a box before I take my first bite, than still have a little mental drama about not opening that box for more. I usually am successful though and have the 2nd half for my next meal or give it to hubs when I reach the frount door.

Keep me in the loop on how you are doing with your goals, I am always cking this thread to see if anyone else is having drama (mental, emotional, physical or food) like me.

Today I am off to court to support my DD in a custody drama Wish us luck!

Thanks Maci, for your good advice and words of wisdom! It helps to know what helps others. I know that I have to change up what I'm already doing, so I'll try to do that.
First of all, I'll try all the harder to control my sweet tooth. I joined the Sweet Tooth Team and I'm hoping that the challenge can help me. I try to substitute fruit and that only works so long. I've tried putting all I can in the freezer or keep it out of the house and then I find it somehow eventually, but not so often, so that's helping some. Sugar's my main problem I would say. I love chips and popcorn and pasta, but I know that I pretty much have to go cold turkey with all that because there's no stopping me! I'm going to put my mind into those same thoughts with sugar because it seems that there's no stopping me with that either. It's like an addiction, I truly believe!
Second, I will get on my recumbent bike for more minutes in a day. I've been slacking off on that because of doing gardening and yardwork more now with the nicer weather. But i know it's the bike that burns up more active calories. Walk my 15 min. max on days I can. I say 15 min. max because of my RA. I really start to hurt bad when I go over, for now anyway.
Third, I'll keep tracking my food and exercise, but will write notes when I'm having more of a problem so I can go back to them and see what I did wrong.
Fourth, Keep with my 1 portions and only do 2 when feasible. I know too that it sometimes hard to track some foods and to know exactly what's in them. We do our best though.

Ok, that's about it. Just keep plugging along with what I'm doing but all the more too. Thanks again for trying to help me. I appreciate it so much and you too, Maci!

Hey Sea- I know its frustrating, I also get in plenty of exercise and just stay the same or gain. When I am doing good the wt just doesn't come off fast enough to not get discouRAGEd. I just keep plugging along doing my best, I know that if and when I track everyday it is much more successful. sometimes it just stops the insanity. Plus I find most times when I thought I had blown it I really didn't and can adjust.
Here are the things i do. I call them my dailys'
1. vitamins and water
2 spark daily (track my food and ex)
3 exericse 30+ min a day. (sometimes its just walking in place while watching a tv show)
4. jems- journal, exercice, meals, and success's. I record them all. just an overview, short!
5. Key: Only F&V's after 8! this helps me to start everyday fresh and successful. I can't tell you how many times I look up and it's 7:57 and I have to stop eating in less than 3 min.

Plus I only eat one serving of anyfood I am eating. period, if I dont' know the serving, 10! is all that I eat. I have to make little rules up for myself w/o saying I can't eat so I can keep my food choices sane. which makes me feel proud and happy. good luck, let me know what plan you come up with! Fail to plan, Plan to fail!

You want to know what's really eating at me every day and I feel like it's out of control and I can't stop??!! It's eating wrong every day and not able to fit it all even on the tracker! I feel so embarrassed and upset to even being here on SP for how I've been acting. It's like zero motivation! We're supposed to be losing 13# in 2013 and not gaining 13# in 2013! Yep, I'm up about 13#!! How do I start going the other way and caring again? I seem to be so awesome at telling others how to do it when they get down, but when I tell myself the same thing, it just goes out the window. The thing is, I still exercise. 377 minutes last week and it's about that every week. I feel that with the meds. I'm on for Rheumatoid Arth. are causing weight gain, but they wouldn't have to either, because I don't have to eat like a emoticon My solution? I don't know, can you help me?! emoticon

Hey, thanks Mac! that's a great way to try to handle it. Also, I found out last night (a text) that grandson's 'engagement' was a facebook prank on their friends at the prom. You can read my blog for today about how I'm gonna whoop him when he gets here tomorrow!!!!

Hey Cat- You sound like you have alot of drama coming your way real soon. You can handle it, remember the stuff she is telling you is gonna bother you because it is your stuff too. It's tough to revisit the neg past stuff. Listen as if you are watching a movie, instead of looking at it as one of the leading ladies, it helps. Journal whenever you feel the old stuff creeping in! Hopefully the engagement is just that, lots of young people have long engagements so there might be nothing to worry about. Even if they are dead set on getting married, nothing anyone is gonna be able to do to stop them. Oh to be young and careless.

Remember we are here for ya! Come vent w/us when the crap gets to deep! We can take it!
Neutron: NO kidding! teehee. Luckily we know better!

Today nothing to be upset about! woohoo, that's not always the case. Lfie is good, we really have to celebrate the good times, because things have a way of changing on it when we least expect it!

Couldn't figure it out for a while, but I'm stressing because my daughter (I've raised her since she was 7) and the 2 grandkids are coming for a visit on Tuesday (Spring Break).

I just learned on Facebook that my 18 year old grandson just became engaged. (He hasn't graduated yet, no job, vehicle, still lives at home, etc. etc.)

Also, she's having major marriage issues, probably headed for divorce. And as she's telling me (on the phone) about the stuff her hubby's doing to her - it's the same thing her dad did to me 10 years ago. (Her dad ended up moving in with my FORMER best friend and then committing suicide.)

She lost her dad, that was horrible enough. She doesn't need to know the nasty details.

So far as my grandson . . . I don' t know . . .

So, I've decided that I'll just do what I do best . . . and that is simply love them.

Thanks. I feel better already.

HI all, I'm back from 2 wks vacation (florida and cruise) and 1 wk trying to catch up! i'm feeling preety lucky right now, a good fun vacation and a new car will do wonders!

I had the best vacation, one reason is that I took a journal, and wrote everytime I felt even the littlest bit of irritation. It just soothed any yucks right away, than wrote the solution I was gonna do, it was effortless and actually fun. it was funny because I went on vacation w/3 other people and I saw them drama allover the place. I felt so calm, serene and happy.

Today is my bday, I am 52 today and feel really lucky. Life is good, my tennis teams are in the #1 position, I got a new car this wk, and had the best vacation ever. Tomm I am planning to have a fun day w/friends and the rest of this wk enjoy babysitting my gson in the afternoon. He is 2 mos old., and seeing my other gkids after school. The biggest thing on my plate is losing this cruise wt and hanging up my vacation clothes! Life is good, lets all try to enjoy it together!!!

Oh I went back and read over my past posts on this thread and some of them I wanted to "get rid of" don't want the wrong person to read them, so I just pushed edit and wrote, "prob solved" or someother comment in that space. I posted it when I needed it, and don't need a reminder! Feel free to edit your posts when you are through sharing it and solving it! It feels good!

I'm dealing with low back pain. Its gotten to be a chronic problem thats really limiting my activity.

Acupuncture helps and I have a Chinese herbal tea that is helping. I'm trying to build my kidney Qi. It seems I have a hole in my bucket. Gotta figure out how to plug that hole.

...Praying Individually

Nobody can be holy for you. You can be a part of the most amazing spiritual community ever, but that doesn't mean you are a follower of Jesus Christ. We need to pray as a community, but we also need to learn how to pray individually.

Maci, I feel like you, it seems that every day I struggle to stay within my nutritional ranges and I end up over-loading them every day! Sometimes just a little bit, but mostly it's over the top too much. I know that's why I'm not losing! I'm exercising my 30-40 min/day but that's not going to do it all! I'm going to gain 13# in 2013 if I don't get things changed around! I don't want to lose a hold of my 67# loss, but I feel that I am. I need help! I need to fill my cravings for chocolate and donuts and chips with freggies and portion-control healthy chips, popcorn, etc. I will definitely make a pact to do this. I will go back to measure out my portions of my meals and eat more veggies at my meals too. I will eat more salads. I know that I'm tons more aware of my eating, it's just that I've been backsliding since the holidays little by little and I'm losing my grasp. Starting tomorrow I WILL pay more attention to being more healthy. I know that I feel alot better. I will continue to drink my 10 glasses of water a day too! Thanks for listening!!! emoticon

I'm starting my ticker over with going low carb.

LOVEAQUABLUE (pretty name reminds me of the sea) it gets pretty difficult to stay cheerful when the appliances go on the fritz, the car guy says you need tires and the medical bill comes in higher than you planned. I find it more difficult in the winter months because it is harder to go out in the cold and the dark is depressing. I hope that things get a little easier for you in the next few weeks, hold on until the Spring.

What's eating me today is that I stepped on the scale and it said 163! grrrrr you would think this would motive me to look at all sweets and snacking as if they are sunlight and I am a vampire, "step away from the light" but no! instead my old self talk about being a failure at wt loss, just moved right on in and said "who care's you can't do it anyways" so go ahead and eat to your hearts content. A mini bag of chz puffs later and I don't feel to good. came home and feel into a deep sleep. Thank god I added post a solution because i don't know if I would be into thinking of that right now. So here is my solution.... Hummmm

Tonight make a list of snack foods that are low cal, and fill my home w/them tomm (hit the commisary) take cuties w/me in the car. have a fruit bowl avail on the counter, write a list of upcoming meals this wk, plan plan plan. I always say Fail to plan, Plan to fail, I just forgot my motto. I got to busy w/the new baby and let things slide, and they slid right back to my old behaviors that got me here in the first place. I will do the things I wrote about now before I end this post.

Done- cleaned the fridge, freezer too! have list and menu for this wk. The only thing I left in our home was a can of whipped crm that could be a problem, but I made sugar free jello so we will use it up with that. Plus I left some chocolate kisses that are peppermint flavor in the freezer, I don't like them, so if I get a huge sugar craving, maybe one of those will satisfy it in the future. Just trying to look ahead.

I am gonna kick these bad eating habits one day at a time, and end up lighter and leaner at least 13 pds leaner by Jan 2014!

here to report, I asked my DD about the christmas eve idea, she said she was the one trying to get her sister to take Christmas eve so she could have her Thanksgiving, I mentioned New Years, she liked it! I mentioned that since it was her sons birthday than he would also score! We will have to see how it goes. All is good. Today no issues, Horray!

Love no worries you are not a spoiled brat! At least I don't think so! My solution to doing fun stuff is to just do "Cheep" fun stuff, Lunch out: 2 jack in the box tacos for 99cents!, camping is the best!, forget the expensive stores, walmart has it all!, and better yet the 99cent store is so much fun, you can have 5 of anything you want and it's only 5 bucks. teehee.

I hear ya about getting a job at our age, I havent' worked in yrs and I can't imagine what kind of job I could get hired doing??? Working at the 7 eleven just isn't worth it. I always say to hubs, I would rather eat PB&J's than wake up and do anything someone tells me to do that I dont' want to. He always says "when are you going to start eating PB&J's?" I say "when I have to, but not yet! teehee.

Money is a pain in the rear, but memories are priceless, go out there and make some cheep ones!

My grrrrrr today is "My mom says to me.. Maci did you hear the girls are arguing who is going to take christmas eve someday?" they all want it. Well in our family we all have a holiday we put on, it is always the same and everyone loves their holiday, The only one w/o one was my youngest and she took on Mothers day the last few yrs, she really wants one of the big ones, (esp christmas eve, Mine!) Well her 1st son was just born on New years Day, so tonight I am going to let her know to stay away from my christmas eve and now New yrs day can be claimed by her! We can watch football, (their love) the Macys day parade, and have a big party for lil john each yr! Hope she buys the new idea, if not, looks like mothers day is gonna have to work! or make up a new one until i croak!

The reason we don't all switch around is that whatever holiday you have, we all have gotten decorations, and it's a traditon w/ our friends and inlaws that we do that holiday. I am the only one who keeps christmas eve just us! Christmas day you are on your own! Hubs and I go to the movies, and whomever wants to come is welcome, It's usually just my mom, The girls go spend the day w/their inlaws! perfect! So Kacie my oldest has Thanksgiving, her Dad (were divorced) and all his famiy there too! Mandi- my 2nd DD does Easter and she has her boyfriends family and her dads family there too! plus lots of friends, she does it at her mobile home park pool, it's a big shinding. Emily our youngest does mother's day brkfst and has her inlaws and their whole side of the family there too, so each party is huge except for our lil christmas eve that I have kept to only My mom & her hubs, My Bro and his kids, and my daughters and their familys , that is still about 18!

New Years day is a perfect solution for the rest of us, hope it works!!!! Happy new yrs!

my grrrr today is money, why can't we just have enough? emoticon

Just finished the bills and I dread every time I have to do it. I try to tell myself I have much more than others but that doesn't help. Every time I pay off credit cards something happens where we need money we don't have.

We are retired and husband would like part time job but that is easier said than done. The people who think you should work till your really old should go try to find a job at that age!

I have seasonal job summer, nov & dec. so home now.

My solution, well I could stay home, never eat out, not go on trips at all even little ones. Reading this I sound like such a spoiled brat, so many would be happy just to have food and rent paid. I need to count my blessings!

Hi ladies, Grrrrrrr. What's funny is that alot of us have the same grrrr's out there, same stuff , diff names.
*Love- Love the towel idea! to funny. I think they would all think I was crazy! teehee. I kinda like that actually, it might make a good funny impact. So Did You??????? Go exercise? We have to be careful what we put out there! teehee. No fudge & an exercise comment, at least she's listening!

*Sunny- Hubs family is so much like that too, we used to show up and end up at all the houses just nodding at it all, sometimes even trying to build fences between them too, now, we just call the loudest and tell them what night we are coming into town, and please rally the troops at his house, we will buy pizza or bring dessert! . We get them all at once, and it's very friendly when they are face to face, that next day we take our time visiting indiv. It works great!

*Eliza- Great compromise! What i might want to say to hubs is: "honey maybe going during the new yrs isn't such a good idea, w/all the partying and guns going off it might be best to visit another time?" We live by Tijuana, so I get where your coming from, couldn't get me to drive or go across the border on New yrs!

*Todays Grrrr is We took my gson and gdaughter to church this morn, well, when we went to get their clothes, (they used to live w/us until 1 mo ago) it seems their mom took "all": their stuff to their new home. I had left 3 sets of outfits for here. (I bought of course) so he had to go in unmatching stained clothes. Grrrrr. When I dropped them home, i said "Blake pack an extra outfit to bring to my home tomm for backup" I am doing the gma New Yrs babysitting. Hipe he does it, if not I will buy one more outfit and mark it "Gmas!" This one was just a baby grrrrr.

and hubs did some after church shopping w/me, I have to admit i did kidnap him abit but hey he never goes, and we were in that part of town, at first he was positivly a bear, (it was his time to grrrrrrowl) I decided to just look out the window and think nasty things instead of saying anything, well after about 15 min he took on a new outlook and we had a fabulous time. We are still having a great day! woohoo.

I could not think of what to write but, now I do.....my husband born in Texas across the border is "Juarez" maybe you have heard of it....his family live there. They always want him to go for the holidays....so this week he went and got a passport, they said they could not find a turkey so, he bought them one, he had me buy his Mom a hat a scarf at my employment for her gift.....
ok so now he wants to drive over and, I tell him: "if they want him for New Years they should at least pick him up at the bridge and take him over." Juarez is known for killing many people, and,
anyway, please pray for him and his decision. I just did not want his family to think I don't let him go.... emoticon

My family who live far away like to draw me into their drama's and make me feel bad about not being close. Since I am not close each one assumes I am on their side of the drama. When I do go to see them I have to spend a lot of time driving from place to place because they do not like to be together. Some how the winter time make them really cranky. Thanks for the venting place.

Yes coming from a empty nester here enjoy them while you can. I just visited my baby and she is 3 states away!

My husband wouldn't throw away since his daughter made the stuff but he did promise to not give me anymore. My older daughter who I thought gave fudge to everyone, when we finally opened the gifts after our trip, she gave me a omelette maker because she knows I cook eggs a lot.

I called her and said, thank you so much for not sending the fudge everyone else got! She said, I know you are trying mom…now exercise! (not kidding thats what she said!)

I wonder if you could find a very funny large magnet for frig about closing it…I have some really good ones for dieting on there. Or do some silly things like tie both doors with towel into knots and when they ask why say dramatically you are protecting your ice!! With teens you have to out FB them in drama and humor!

Oh do I get you love, I can't even fall asleep if there are certain kinds of sweets in my home, they literally call me from the cubbords. The ways that help me do what you are asking (which I am rarely 100%) is that I think it's the trashcan or me? (me being the human trashcan) this sometimes can give me the courage to dump the stuff. Of course I always run it under water or put coffee grounds on it, (just in case) teehee.

You did sooooo good this holiday, keep it up, You will feel and look much better if you do. Dont' forget to let yourself enjoy some of your fav treat, take off the amt that you think is what a "reasonable" person would take, plus a bite!

Sugar is my fav drug of choice! I get ya girl. You did great so far, I say, "get rid of it" and next month on the 29th to celebrate your success, go buy yourself a chunk of fudge (bite size) at the candy store w/hubs. You can choose your fav kind there too! Tell me what happened and what solution you came up with!

I have a mini grrr today, The ice is melted in the icemaker today....... again! most times when I go to push the ice on the fridge, all I get is the sound of the machine stuck, than I put my hand inside the ice container and grrrrrr it's all stuck in one big block! Why can't the other people in my life shut the freezer door??? Is it that difficult??? I guess my solution is to think.. hummm someday I may not have so many around my home I love so much so best to ck it all the time, and carry an ice pix! (to chop up the ice! you silly girls!) teehee.

My vent is treat gifts. I love sweets but need to have them rarely as I was just diagnosed with pre diabetes. I was pretty good at my daughters turned down cookies. I had apple pie twice and one cinnamon roll small but that was over a week so could have been worse.

I thought I am home no more sweets. I try to keep them out of my house.

We open a few gifts and kids from CA sent us homemade bark and fudge. After the first day I asked husband to hide it from me.

Then last night begged him to give it to me which he did.

I woke up today angry at myself for lack of control over sweets.

I plan to tell husband who is not even into sweets like me to throw it away or not give to me no matter what I say.

It's crazy to say but sugar is like a drug to me sometimes....

girl "turn that dread into a tread!" What a great way to handle the grrrrrr's about our bodies, overeating, muffin tops we all so dread. You should put that on a bumpersticker! Hope you stuck to your solution!

I am so happy we have all you awesome venters out there w/me. I used to have my own personal thread as a fav called "Pist and need to share" sometimes I would forget about it for months than sometimes, OMG I wrote like crazy. Alot about AJ but trust me he is not the only one or thing who sometimes gets my goat! I didn't write solutions though, and I like having that added so I can change focus from grrrrr (Them) to Ummmm (me) It's funny how we can get really proud of ourselves when we make a choice to do something constructive out of an awful feeling circumstance. Good luck w/your grrrr's today girls, and know I am hear to listen if you need an ear! Tell me instead of spreading the ugly feelings and having to face the people "you let it out" with. I promise not to call CNN! teehee.

Hope today brings lots of bliss moments to you all!!! ~Maci~

The things that help me "after I vent" are
*writing about it, it starts out preety harsh but then I am able to get a better perspective.
*Calling someone to talk, sometimes though I wish I hadn't!
*Taking a nice warm bath, and soaking away the stress
*A good movie does wonders!
*Munching always feels good now, than backfires! (don't do it) unless its carrots or popcorn.
Add some of your own!!!! Happy Sat, Oh don't forget to weigh in for the challenge on Tues!

This is a good thread for venting! Thanks for setting it up. I'm grateful that I enjoyed my husband's family visit and I'm grateful that today it's peaceful and quiet. :D So what's bugging me today is just myself. What's eating me is that I know I have to get back on that treadmill and I'm letting my "dread" overcome my "tread." I don't know why I do that. I am so happy with myself after a workout. So, I'm committing to doing it, as soon as my light breakfast digests a little bit. I'm working on baby steps to get back to where I was 4 months ago.

Good Friday morning! I'm with you MACILINN, I think an occasional "vent" is okay, just so it's... productive, and I believe typing it on here yesterday was a help to me. Between my "venting" here, the journaling I did & then speaking with someone, I was extremely pleased with my choices around my post. It's all about making the next right decision, huh, and learning when it wasn't the... best one?! ;o)

Here's to a FABULOUS Friday, and an even better weekend.

Thanks girls for sharing, I dont' want to be the only one here w/grrrrr moments. Today was awesome, I told my friend the story that I wrote about and I could tell my mind was in a much better place, it was over for now. I am really proud of myself for choosing a good choice of acting, and than doing it. I think if we have a place to vent than come up w/our most productive solutions we can learn to lick the probs in our life before they lick us. Or we make them grow worse. Today I am happy and healthy and thankful that you all posted w/me, it tells me I am not alone, and it sounds like you also made some really good healthy decisions w/your stuff.

woohoo, I think we are on to a good thing here! You rock. Today I am trouble free! woopie! who knows what tomm will bring but w/this thread I know where to go with it!

EATING me... Well, a text from my sister yesterday, regarding her health, what to do and a prayer request. Then a call from my mom @ 6:30am this morning regarding my brother, his health & what to do?!?!?

Sister in CA, brother in CO & I am in HI, hmm.... what to do. Well, my nature is to want to "fix" it for them, and I have had an epiphany, I CAN'T! Not only that, I'm not so sure that's what they're after. The other realization I had is there's a pattern that seems to exist, and I'm beginning to think they're being "fed" in it... somehow.

As I read the post (s), I realize I too should just do some writing about it, let them know what I'd do in their situations, pray for them, and then... take care of myself. In all of this, I'm reminded that I too can easily get caught up in the... "pattern" that seems to exist with me & my sibs., and rather than to repeat the unhealthy behavior, I am going to do the next right thing for me and my health.

I have been contending with knee "issues" since mid-Sept., and I am moving forward with decisions that will help me improve & change things. So, with that being said, I have prayed and will continue to do so, I will get my swimsuit on & get in the pool to do some physical therapy exercises and I will journal about all of this. I WILL stay away from the 1/2 dozen dark chocolate candy bars in the refrigerator that seem to "woo" me at times like these. ;o)

Thanks for the post and for some reminders of what I can do in this.

Have a TERRIFIC Thursday!

PS BTW, I didn't seem to sound so selfish & make this post all about... ME & my "stuff," I meant to acknowledge those of you who have posted - MACILINN - thanks again for the post & it does sound like you're making right choices and decisions around your DD & SIL. That can be such a "difficult" situation, one I am all too familiar with, with my oldest step-daughter, her ex & our grandsons. I too find it hard not to want to "fix" it, & it always bit me. After years of learning to make different choices & decisions around them, all is good today. As you read, he (SIL) is now the "ex" and it took my SD arriving at that all on her own, without her father & I giving our unsolicited... opinion/input. ELIZACG9 - ewww, "sell, sell, sell" in retail & you do get "cutthroat," and I'm with you, if you keep the customer's best interest in mind, you'll come out the "winner," no matter what.

The job I have is retail and it is 'cutthroat' you have TO SELL SELL SELL....the other associates get mad if they see you in there area selling for example a handbag....if the customer asked me for help I stick with them......they don't like it and let you know about it. Grrrrrrr....trying to be kind to the customer and make sure they leave with something they will keep and not return is the whole idea and it is not easy. I am going to work.. emoticon

I thought I would start this one off, tonight we had an AJ situation, nothing new or unexpected , AJ is an abbrebiation for Angry Jerk. this is my Ex SIL who lives across the street. (oh the stories I could tell) I used to refer to him as the terrorist, but it gave him to much fear power, than I changed it to the Bully, but then It was to intimidating, now AJ works just fine, it helps to remind me just what I am having to deal w/when he rears his ugly head...

That being said.. I have worked really hard to not internalize his crap. I no longer drive in the car or sit alone and visualize how to plot his demise. So that being said, tonight he was being his true self, and my DD went off on me because of his harrassment and cruelness to her. I finally had to hang up on her, (never done before) her cursing at me was not going to be allowed and I didn't see anyother option.

This situation made me soooo hungry. I have a commitment that I do 99% of the time, and it is that I only eat F&Vs after 8. After much mental play, I started leftover eating rice at 7:53-7:59. At 7:59 I just stopped and put it back in the fridge. My mind started making excuses to keep going. To eat other things, I mean I was gearing for a big binge. I got on sparks and posted that no matter what I was going to keep my commitment. It's after midnight and the urge has passed! woohoo.

My solution was to send her a text saying : I am sorry your night went so awful, and I love you so much. than get on my team page and write I was going to keep my commiment and also not turn on the kitchen light, than I made a big glass of water and started a bath, I got a notebook and wrote about it, until i finally feel asleep in the bathtub. I feel great. I feel like I made the best possible outcome of an impossible situaion. My DD texted me back a long text about how inappropriate and sorry she was for treating me so awful. (that is good for her to do and neccessary for her growth) i did not respond to it. I will just hug her when i see her next which I am sure gonna be the next few days, I will prob send her another I love you note tomm.

What I have learned is that I just need to listen to her at times, she was the one being victimed again, and I am always trying to help her fix it. I am always saying to do things that will protect her in the future. (legal) she has spend an unbelievable amt of $. over 15 grand and time w/the legal system, from mediations to restraining orders etc and they can't make him behave either. This is out of our hands, and esp mine, I need to be the mom who listens and tells her I am sorry honey that you have to deal w/this, instead of being the one who is always saying "call the cops!" it is her choice, I have said it enough she knows what I want her to do, she has done all she can do w/the legal system to protect her and her rights. I need to be the soft shoulder to cry on, not another person in her life telling her that she should do more. I love her, I love my gkids, I love that they are only across the street, 50% if their life, even though they are not allowed to wave at me. I know that in case of any misdoing all they have to do is run across the street or I can call the police if he starts to act out on them.. My life is good, my DD is precious to me, and truly it is not my life to run. Thank god. I would be a basket case and 500 pds! I will be better in 2013, this is my goal! Thanks for listening.

I thought I would put this one in print for those who need it! I sure do. Nothing sends me into a fridge frenzy faster than something that is bugging me. Whether it's a family or friend situation, job related, hubs induced, or just the feeling of Grrrrrr. We can do it here! So send your grrrr's here instead of being a cabinet calorie & carb cleaner, and lets get these extra pds off in 2013!

We all have our grrrrr's, some are short lived (woohoo!) , some last along time and sometimes you just want to get em out! Send your hate mail, send your love mail, send your secret mail, send your frustrated mail, give it to us instead of your loved ones, your body, or your inner self. We can take it! Use this thread alot at times, and stop in and help others when you are in a good frame of mind. Life is good, sometimes we all just need to growl alittle!
