On and off I wake up early am with very bad burning in my stomach, really horrific, I'd say, and it happened this am. It seems to be much better when I have legumes for dinner. But, this am I tried a small green apple --- no help --- so I tried a sweeter apple with 2 omegazymes and a small scoop of probiotics. Took the pain away right away. My doc is doing a digestive test on me (I think through Quest Diagnostics) and maybe something will show up???? that can be corrected.emoticon But, after taking the apple and other things I feel up to roller blading todayemoticon

I found I have been getting sick at night from cottage cheese, I think, because there is no lactose free kind??? But, I tried the grapefruit seed extract with the baking soda in water, still reflux, so I had about 1/2 an apple with no skin and an omegazyme and it was a great night of sleep.

Thank you everyone for your replys. Hugely appreciate it. I too tested positive for a wheat problem, not able to digest wheat, dairy or soy. Tea, dairy, too much fruit, coffee, sugar, chocolate all open my LES valve. When I get terribly sick, my remedies are many, but, a good standby for me is Quinoa, shiitake mushrooms, vegetables (including turnips) a few raisons and fat free chicken or turkey, all cooked together. On the mushrooms,it's in all the health food stores, and very beneficial for the immune system. Another type of mushroom which is similar in nutrition is maitake mushrooms.

Get this -- I thought I had GERD, was tested at my doctor's office and the test was negative. HOWEVER, I was tested for being allergic to wheat (simple blood test) and it came back POSITIVE!

Hello Everyone: I am new to this site this week. I have advanced GERD which I have been trying to control naturally for the last 8 years. I am 61 and disabled from it, as well as had a mild stroke 5 years ago caused by a pulminologist who gave me a lung stress test and should not have. And had 3 major surgeries before it all, including a closed colon - colon resection. I have been HUGELY HUGELY surprised by the diet here. The diet has controlled my GERD, at least this first week, and I am starting to wake up strong and refreshed. Add to the diet a Calcium/Magnesium/Citrate, (in capsule form) which my MD states is the easiest to digest, at night before I go to bed - it seems to be closing up my esophagus beautifully - but, I can't seem to digest the casein and need to poor the powder out in my hand. But, first I have to poor powder out from a Betaine HCL, then cover it with the powder from the CAL/MAG/Citrate- then down the hatch with water - lots of it. It helps me sleep and as I said, seems to close up my esophagus. Additionally, my doctor told me of taking acidophilus to control the burning in my stomach and my esophagus. So I have a small jar of acidopholus powder and take a scoopful in the early morning if my stomach or esophogus is burning and it stops the burning. I take lots of digestive enzymes and have discovered some other things which are pumping up my immune system, which went out on me. I will blog later about it. The only thing I would want to add, and do, is, I change out wheat breakfasts for quinoa, amaranth, teff (cooked). The diet recommended is so far absolutely incredible for my GERD!!!!! I love it!! Thank you so much for this incredible site.emoticonemoticon
