My Why - I have 3 children at home and want to set a good example. I remember as a kid going outside with my sisters to play on the playset, run-around, or go ride our bikes. I remember family bike rides around the neighborhood too. I want my kids to have the same memories.

I also want to do it for myself so that I feel like I have more energy. I'm not ashamed of how I currently look but I know I could look a little better if I took even better care of myself. Looking forward to where this journey takes me.

My why -
to be honest my why is probably because it is a challenge. Just to conquer the challenge. Maybe that is why it is so easy to quit.
Now, to be lofty...
I am going on 52 years. I know I feel better if I eat right and energy levels rise if I exercise.
I'm going for a doctorate in education. It would be a shame not to be healthy enough to enjoy it.

And Oh, yes...
an immediate motivator -- I want to wine the Dec. pot at school emoticon

I've seen many family members struggle with fitness, nutrition, and being very overweight. I'm trying to learn as much as possible and really get control over my nutrition and fitness to prevent the type of weight gain I've seen amongst some of my friends and family. I'm learning how hard it is to eat REALLY well; well enough to lose weight, and this is further motivation to get my nutrition under control.

For me...and those who love me! To be the best me I can be, and to stop settling for mediocre!

"Pain doesn't tell you when you ought to stop. Pain is the little voice in your head that tries to hold you back because it knows if you continue, YOU WILL CHANGE. Don't let it stop you from being who you can be. Exhaustion tells you when you ought to stop. You only reach your limit when you can go no further."

I remember how active my parents were with my boys (now 26 and 22), but can't do as much with my brother's youngest (just turned 3). I want to be healthy and active for when I become a grandmother. None on the way yet, but my oldest got married a year ago and they do want little ones in the future. Have to be ready!

The only restrictions any of us have in life are those we place on ourselves.

The reason why I need to get to my goal is so huge that I find the way to get it done.

I have two wonderful kids right now and anther on the way coming 4/2/2009, a wonderful wife, and I was so unhealthy when I started this journey on 1/1/2009. If I don't continue and reach my goals then not only will I die and leave 3 children for my wife to raise on her own. I would have failed the one reason I want to live for ever and that is my family. How can I be a good father and role model to my children when I am out of shape un healthy etc? I can't. I must succeed and do so quickly so that I can then tell my wife yes it can be done and I will help you achieve the same so you can feel as good as I do after we have this beautiful baby and you heal up from having her.

This is my why!!! This is my driving force!! The how isn't a big obstacle anymore because it is way too important !!

Whats your why? Find that driving force and keep the fire inside so you can burn it until you reach your goal.
