Happy to be here! What motivated me was after wearing loose and comfy summer dresses all summer, I went to put on a suit, and it was too tight. I knew I had put on some weight, but it was TOO MUCH. I want to feel healthy again, and not run down like i have been lately!

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it!

Well I ran cross country in high school and well I haven't gained the full freshman 15, but I would like to lose the 9 pounds that I have gained and I really wanns get back down to where I was when I was running because I felt good about myself. Now I hate shopping, getting ready, I live in sweatpants and t-shirts, and I'm just not a bublbly as I was! And I used to never sit with my arms crossed to hide my stomach and now I always do along with fidgetting! So it's time to be the real me again! Follow my blog please!

Two years ago, I had a major surgery which temporarily resulted in an inability to eat. I dropped down to a really unhealthy weight and, when I had recovered, I increased my eating habits to try to get my weight back up. It worked... too well. All of that weight came back, and then some. I had been thinking about trying to lose weight for a while. It didn't help that my last year of college was very busy and very stressful and I stopped paying attention to what I was eating, and how much. I kept saying to myself "It's only a few pounds here and there" and kept putting off changing my habits. I had become really complacent.
Last night, I was giving my S.O. a back massage, and noticed my reflection in the full-length mirror on the back of my door. I had never stopped to really look at how much weight I had gained, and felt horrible. Instead of beating myself up over it, though, I immediately decided that I needed to do something other than just lament that I was getting heavier.

I understand completely I have lost 23 lb and it has been an up hill journey but God is with me and I am encouraged by my husband who works out with. Be encourage my sister and know that you are not alone. just me the Min.

I , too have health probl;ems that came from being overweight. but sadly I did not take them seriously, now Iam sick of being sick. soIam now tryiong very hard to lose this wieght. not only will it help me hopefully it will motivate my daughter who gainging weight rapidly. need all the support Ican get.

Coming to realize that it wasn't about me, but doing the will of my Father and bringing Him glory. How can I teach or preach His Word When I had issues that needed to be addressed in my own life. so My husband and I are working hard to keep off the weight but to keep eating healthy. just me the Min

A number of things influenced me. I had lost 20 pounds several years before (doing a Spark-like program on my own without the Spark support and tools). I gained 3 pounds on vacation that I could not keep off. So I decided to get serious. And, as long as I was getting rid of those 3, why not get rid of a few more since ...

...I have diabetes and heart disease in my family
...I need to set an example for my children
...I want to set a good example for my relatives with health problems
...I wanted to look good when performing
...I want to be in shape and healthy for whenever grandbabies start arriving (not yet, I just want to be ready!)

The only restrictions any of us have in life are those we place on ourselves.

There is a high history of heart disease in my family. My grandmother died at 49 of a massive heart attack, my grandfather died at 63 of a heart attack and my father has had two with bypass on the last one! He died three times on the way to the hospital! With the high risk, my high BP, high cholesterol, and the everyday stress I think it is time to take hold of my health so that I can live to see my daughter (only child) get married and have children of her own! She is 21 and putting on a little weight herself so I need to set an example for her which I have never done before!

I also saw my family, who are all over weight, and said I didn't want to be like them. I always told myself that I would never be over 200lbs. Then it was, I will not go over 205 then it was 225. Then I got pregnant. I only gained 19 lbs and lost it all after I had the baby but then it came back full force! I didn't really see it until I went to take a picture with my son and saw how bad I looked. I have recently moved here and had to change jobs, leave all of my family and friends and start over. So the stress has been bad and then the weight gain wasn't any better. I have decided that there is really only one thing that I can control and that is my weight. I can choose what goes in my mouth and what I do on the daily basis so this makes me feel like I can take charge of something in my hectic life. Hopefully it works. I hope that I can help someone achieve their potential and someone can help me out as well!!!

I"m sorry to hear about your health problems, but it looks like you're off to a good start on your weight loss. Those drugs can really mess up a person who's trying to loose weight. Also, good for you on furthering your education!

I took 6 months off from work to devote to my online classes for my Masters in Nursing. Being that the classes are online it means lots of sitting. When I stopped working I started putting on pounds. I decided I needed to do something different and that led me to try running which led me to SP on a google search. Right now I am having a hard time losing the weight as I am on Prednisone for a bad flare of Ulcerative Colitis which had me hospitalized for a week in July. I will be off the steroids Sept. 8th and I hope I will then drop at least 5 pounds of water!

Seeing more of my mother and aunts when I looked in the mirror ( all of them are overweight) and I refuse to be complacent about it. All of them have health issues related to being overweight and none of them do anything other than take meds and say that they'll start exercising one day. I will do better because I can be better and will not allow myself nor my son to fall into that genetic trap if I can help it.

What helped you to decide to make life style changes to start loosing weight? We all have those things that sparked our interest in loosing weight, what was yours?

We decided to start this forum and were unable to move the old thread with this question. I have started this one so we can keep all motivational threads in the same area.
