Amber- thank you for the recipe site. I can see I will be retrying alot new recipes... I think now and ask myself is this carb worth it? Before I would be sick afterwards.

I have had two good days as far as food and the scale are concerned. It, the scale has gone down. Yea!

emoticon SUCCESS345! I have to say, my new favorite low carb recipe site is: peaceloveandlowcarb.com/recipes I love the pictures, as I truly believe we eat first with our eyes. She makes the food look so yummy. She also has a group of recipes that are 5 ingredients or less that is great when you don't feel like fixing something complicated. Maybe you can find some good replacements for your old favorites that will help you keep your blood sugar under control.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am so happy the weekend is here, now I can get some relaxation in before the start of next week. Let's stay strong on our goals.

Earnie- A haircut always makes a person feel good... We deserve it... You are still sparking so you are in it to win it... we are shooting for process not perfection.
Amber- I'm so glad to hear things are going better for you two.. Family and friends are so important in times like this.. The meal plan sounds good for you.. I love califlower instead of mash potatoes.. I will not go back to mash potatoes.. It is amazing how I do not get that heavy bloated feeling from using califlower instead.

This week I have ate very good.. I think before I grab... I really think about the arbs.. Being I'm a diabetic I have ask myself this week, if the carb is worth eating alot of the times I have walked away or grabbed something else of a carb choice. We are camping this weekend with friends... So we should have a healthy weekend as she is my weigh loss buddy.
So if we do get in trouble it will be together.. We hope one of us is strong at all times....

Amber, I admire how you are handling all of this stress with your fiance’s surgery and recovery and managing to keep up with your plan to get healthy.

Success, glad to hear your back is better. I agree, this Summer (days, weeks, etc.) are flying by.

Well it has been a busy week since my fiance came home from the surgery last Friday. We had a nurse home visit on the weekend to make sure his tube and stuff was all clear and that it was draining appropriately. Then he had a hospital appointment Mon, GP appointment today & another hospital appointment tomorrow. Then all the normal housework and errands on top of those. I definitely have no issues falling asleep at night.

My fiance seems to be recovering well. I have stayed on track with my eating, but we decided to try a service that makes paleo meals fresh and you pick them up a few times a week. We get 18 meals a week and we split them. This means I don't have to cook as often and that we don't eat junk. He has liked some of the food, but there is lots of veggies and he has never been a big vegetable eater. I also have been looking at some nice recipes and there is one for shepard's pie using mashed cauliflower on top instead of potatoes. It looked really healthy with ground beef, veggies & seasoning, then topped with the mashed cauliflower. I bet I might be able to get him to eat that... we will see.

Anyways, I am so grateful to have him home, to have great family and friends and to have a roof over our heads. I also count you all as friends. You prayed and encouraged us and trust me I am so grateful for that. So thank you all for everything. I hope we all can make progress on goals for next month. Hopefully I will be able to have more time for Sparking and encouraging you guys to keep moving forward and reaching your goals.

I'm off to get a hair cut this morning. My weight has climbed and I am starting again this morning to get the food under control and the exercise pushed to the priority list.

My back is alot better... Only walking 2 miles at this time... Maybe I will start next week doing more.. Just do not want to push to hard to fast....

SUCCESS345 - I am so glad your back is doing better.

Earnie- Thanks again for the support.

I got back from visiting him this afternoon. He looked good. It was strange seeing his arm in a sling with a tube (looks like an IV tube) coming from under his arm. I will spare the details on it, but all in all, he looked better then I was expecting from the operation. Even the surgeon said he was recovering well and might be able to come home tomorrow (Thursday for us). There was an issue with the drainage that the nurses messed up, the surgeon caught it on his rounds and was quite stern that they had messed it up. Apparently for 16 hours they blocked his drainage- not a good thing and could have led to issues. I like to think that all the people praying and sending support helped him to come out okay despite the mistake the nurses made. He really looked well. Again I cannot express in words how much we appreciate and are grateful for all the support. I send a big emoticon to all of you. Thanks so much and I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Amber - thinking of you. I'm so happy surgery is over for you two. We are here for you, if you need us!!! Hug your way!!! Good for you taking care of yourself during this stressful time. It's easy to fall back into old habits when stressed. It shows you are ready to be the new you.

My back is lots better. I have been riding bike as its not so hard on the back.
5 mile bike ride today. Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow . We are worth it!!

Dropped my fiance off this morning before seven. I just called the hospital since it has been over 9 hours and they said he just got out of surgery and is in recovery at the moment. Hopefully later he will give me and his family a quick call once the anesthesia has worn off. I imagine he will be quite groggy. Hopefully he will be released on Friday. I am so thankful for all the prayers. You guys are so wonderful. I will do a brief update tomorrow, by then he should be able to tell me more on how it went. We will still be waiting for the test results for a week or so. Anyways, I wanted to let you all know he is out of surgery. Thanks so much for the support.

All through this I haven't been binging. That is something I really struggled with, but this time I feel stronger and I am sure a part of it is having my amazing Sparkfriends and Sparkteam members. I may not have been losing weight like I would have liked these past few months, but I can tell you I haven't been adding to them by binging on junk food. I have been taking care of myself and making good choices when I eat. Not perfect choices, but good ones. So I want to thank you guys for the support. If I could give you each a big hug, I would. Never stop being amazing.

Thank you the back is alot better.. I took it easy for a week. weigh in on Sat was -1.6.
I have been riding bike as it is not so hard on the back. Trying hard to think of my food choices before I eat. Ask myself is it worth it? Is this a food that is in my plan?

Thinking of you all.... Hope all is well. I miss everyone. But at times life gets busy... But always take a moment for you!!!!

SUCCESS345- I am sorry about the loss of your uncle. You family are in our thoughts and prayers. I am very proud of you for walking and doing the water exercises. I hope all your hard work rewards you with better health and a lower number on the scale. Also I hope your back recovers soon.

The weather has been stormy here. We have been so busy getting things ready for the operation (this coming Tuesday) and getting other things done, that I haven't had much time to post. I hurt my back so takin it slow this week. I did get 2 mile walking in today, plus some water exercises. I'm trying to be careful what I eat this week.

Thank you. I had to love him enough to let him go. He left us some awesome memories.
Weigh in was +1.2.. I must shake it off.. I looked back on my tracker. I lost when I exercised less and ate more.. Healthy foods of course. Have avoid weekend.

Success I am so sorry for your loss. You are right about taking care of yourself. I am going to Chattanooga today and have to shop at least four stores for myself and others. That is going to be more walking and lifting for me. I will still get in some stretching and a bit of time on the treadmill this evening.

I ordered a book on how to care for a person with Lymphodema, which is a common side effect of the surgery he will be undergoing. The book is coming from Amazon, I paid extra for it to arrive before his op. I am still nervous about the op, but last week he had an ecg (heart sonogram) done. We should hear something this week about that, but the fact they are doing all these tests and consults is making me feel more comfortable that he will be fine in surgery and recovery.

You guys are great and I greatly appreciate all the prayers and support. Know that I do think of you guys often and also say prayers for all my Spark Friends and team mates. You guys are wonderful and deserve to have healthier bodies, longer lives and lots of joy. This means you have to take care of yourself. Make the best choices you can but allow yourself time to enjoy things in life. If you feel the need to eat a small piece of cake with a friend, take a walk with that same friend to burn it off. Find a balance that lets you get healthy, but still enjoy the little things. Also remember that a meal off plan doesn't mean the whole day is lost. Don't beat yourself up, just get back on track asap. You are all such beautiful, amazing women, don't for a minute think you cannot accomplish this, do not think for a moment that you are not worth it- because you are so very much worth every minute, every second. You can do this!

Join the 2% challenge by posting your Starting Weight and 2% of that figure.

Here is an example: If you now weigh 200 pounds and lose 2% of that this month, you will have lost 4 pounds by the end of the month.

Example
Starting weight - 200 lbs
2% - 4 lbs
Goal- 196 lbs
