They're as tough as old boots I know, sounds a bit like my Hibiscus out the front, I've had ants build a nest in it, it split in two, had concrete poured down the middle and it's still there.

I have to look at what team I'm on sometimes with some of the answers, I swear I'm on the Skewed and Warped team!!!!!emoticonemoticon

I take it you mean the succulent garden and not eat prickly pear!!

I love them I have a lot of them at home. My favourites are the Aeoniums they are like succulent trees.

No ... I cant get past the little needle hairs, seriously I only touch this with thick leather gloves and metal tong!! My Grandma made jelly once, it was very good..... I should look into this... hmmm .

Do you eat the prickly pear fruit from it??? I've never been fussed with it but a lot of migrants like them

yea that would be a major pain! The only succulent I can keep in the ground are hen and chicks and the huge prickley pear that I have. I do have a picture of it blooming on my photos page if you want to look. I have to thin it out again it would take over the whole garden!

It's a shame that your weather stops you from having them. You could bring the containers in but that is a pain in the tuckus after the first couple of times

I love succulents, they are hardy, they propagate with ease and there are so many of them. The ideas here are great if you want to make all sorts of succulent gardens.
