Arrrggghhh. I pressed something instead of my return key and the message went off unfinished.

Well done to everyone for last month. 200 bike miles is great for October BTW, I too am dropping my mileage for the winter. Keep on Sparking Midland Sparkies, you really are the pride of England.

Blessed are the cracked for it is those who let in the light.

Sooooo!
We crashed and burned in October. 191 miles in the end. I blame by back, because stuffing my back up really didn't help much. That off road event was hard work, made harder by some lovely people going out and nicking all the signs so we ended up back at the start 5 miles early. We were not about to backtrack 3 miles into the pelting rain to pick up the route again and then ride the 5 miles back to where we now were. We elected to have a bowl of soup and a cheese roll instead.
Haven't ridden since due to decorating (boo hiss) and having to be domestic emoticon I know that housework won't kill me but I don't really want to take the chance.

I shall go and write about November now.

Now just about made 200 miles for the month (really wanted to get to 250)

may have to settle for lower numbers through the winter months, roll on the spring

Just because your paronoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you!

I've got up to 145 so far this month (all off road) doesn't look like I will make the 250 this month but it won't stop me from trying.

Right, I am up to 170 miles this month. I have a 25 mile off road event next sunday and we are praying that the rain stays away for it (Elijah prayed for rain to stay away for 3 years and 6 months James 5:17, so I figure that I can but try for 1 day)
This off road malarkey on mountain bikes is a whole lot harder than road bikes, I had not appreciated in the past, how much harder it is for people without the state of the art lightweight jobbies that we ride on the road. I am shattered but in a good way.

You guys all sound like you are rocking along with your pedometers etc (I must get one of those as I am a dog walker, for a living).
Go Sparkies, I am so proud of you all & you keep me inspired too because now it would be just too embarrassing to fail for me.

Don't forget, with the evenings drawing in and all, to wear something reflective and maybe attach some sort of light to yourself or your bike.
We have armbands made of reflective material and they have red flashing (or non flashing depending on how many times we press the button) and they can be seen half a mile away. We got them from Aldi (might have been Lidl) for 2.99 a set of two. We also have some little flashing lights for our bikes at about the same price. My friends daughter attaches a red one to the back of her jacket and a white one to the front so that she can be seen clearly when she is walking.

A bit of hi-viz or something with reflective fabric on is a must as the nights draw in and they need not be expensive.

I thought that I would mention it as I don't want to read about squashed flat sparkies in the tabloids.

Hi
I think I may have been a bit rash in saying I could do the many steps, I am will to give it a go but 100,000 may be more in my line. I did 7161 this morning but think my pedometer may have reset itself as the walk I did is usually over 10,000, just hope I can remember to take the pedometer with every time.

OK, here we go for another month.

I will give the 250 miles a go (may be tough as the evenings start to draw in but we can but try )

Hello
I could not cycle that far as too many hills around here but will try and equal the 300,000 steps. Just have to remember my pedometer when I go out.

Ok I'm starting late, but I'm going to aim for 300,000 steps for the month - now where did I hide that Pedometer????

Thanks for setting the challenge again Millie-Milou, I'm sure Pete will join you again in the cycling this month.

Come on guys, what is your challenge going to be.

After doing my 252 miles in September, I thought for October that I could cycle another 250 miles across the whole month. I have one extra day to do it in, with October having 31 days.

I have an event booked on the 28th Oct but have not decided whether to ride for 25 miles or 40 miles at the event yet. I need to have a look at the route first and the route maps are not available.

Is anyone going to join me in an October challenge?
You don't need to ride your bike for 250 miles, any October challenge will do. Put your challenge to yourself on this thread and we can all compare notes as we go through the month.

Go sparkies.
