Hi Rebecca!

I took the generic version of Celexa for only about 2 months.. I had horrible side effects, but due to the numerous medication cocktails I have been on, I am extremely sensitive with meds. I found that I was even more depressed and tired and not eating, I wouldn't get out of bed, I never left my apartment.. It took my fiance talking to my mom to get me out of the apartment and back in to see my doctor... She wouldn't up the dosage past 40 because there was an FDA alert, so she switched me to prozac and ive been on that ever since.. I am doing a lot better on that im losing weight, full of energy, and overall bubbly and happy!

Just happened upon this thread and thought I'd toss my Celexa experience in. I started out taking Celexa about 15 years ago. It definitely helped get my depression under control. I took it for about 7 years but still had some depression issues so was put on Wellbutrin in addition which worked for a time. Then gradually changed over to Lexapro when it came out. I then started going to therapy and over a few years was able to gradually get off of Wellbutrin and lower the Lexapro dosage. It's great that you are exercising. I know that and the work that I did in therapy makes me feel as though my depression is almost in "remission". So, I guess, to answer your question, for me, Celexa, may have contributed slightly to weight gain and made it more difficult to lose weight. But definitely not impossible. I wish you the best in your journeys and endeavors!

emoticon Rebecca. emoticon to the team. Glad that you joined us on your journey. I am looking forward to taking the journey with you and getting to know more about you through your posts.

A lot of the anti depressants cause weight gain and make it harder to lose weight. Make it harder not impossible. emoticon

Rebecca, I used Celexa for a long time and didn't have any weight issues with it.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Hello,

My name is Rebecca and I'm on the generic version of the Celexa 40 mg. I have seen great results, even better when I exercise which I'm trying to do more often! I just wanted to hear about others experience with Celexa. Anyone having trouble losing weight on Celexa? During the harder times in my depression I turned to food and gained about 15lbs that I would like to lose. Now that I'm on medicine I am feeling much better and eating better as well so I'm hoping to start losing the extra weight.
