I moderated this Official Team Goal to invite more people to start thinking along these lines. Check it out. Re-subscribe to the modified goa; you still can record the actual number of servings you have each day. I like 10, or more, daily. during the growing season, too.
The notion of serving size always confused me. What's a serving of lettuce? Of Asparagus? Of anything that isn't self-contained? But then I attended a seminar with a bariatric doctor. He defined a serving of veggies or fruit as 40 calories. That means many cups of lettuce is a serving (I eat ginomormous salads), two tomatoes is a serving, and one banana is three fruits. I think it's a good way to do it as it provides a standard that is reliable and uniform.

I had 15 freggies yesterday! I am getting over a cold, and I did a salad with plenty of apple cider vinegar for dinner and a spicy soup with lots of cayenne and Sriracha for lunch. Who needs cold pills?
I think 15 is my new record. I had 12 on March 6 and had 77 grams of fiber for the day. Now THAT'S another record. Spark yells at me for going over but my body feels so good, I don't care.
edit later same day ~ goodness. I had vegan chili for lunch and will have an awesome salad for dinner. 88 grams of fiber, including my breakfast raspberries. I'm not even going to click on how I did, because Spark is really gonna yell! *teehee*

Amrana (jeez, my autocorrect always wants to change your name to "armada" -- I sure hope I've caught it every time, LOL!!!) I LOVE that little veggie tracker! It just appeared one day; I must have pressed some button somewheres...
I eat lots of veggies 'cause I like 'em, but what's helped me "light up the pineapple" a lot is getting a CSA box delivered -- I've vowed to use everything in it, which has caused some comedy (see my blogs) but I've learned to love some wonderful veg I'd never cooked before. My new box was waiting for me on the porch last night with the most bee-yootiful (auto-correct tried to change that to "bees-youthful"! Hahaha) kale, apples, caracara oranges, lettuce, and a giant, feathery fennel bulb. Not sure what I'm going to do with that last but it'll be fun finding out!
I also have a few cans of v8 stashed at work to throw down some veg in a hurry (plus I love it) but I'd love to find a shelf-stable less-commercial version; any recs? And I eat a big wad of homemade spinach hummus on toasted bread almost every day for lunch (the hubs calls it my "green paste"; doesn't that sound nummy?) which is all veg. I'm actually making a new batch today soon's I get my arse out of bed!

I just recently found the freggie tracker under Quick Track. I think it's so cute! It will display on your nutrition page right next to your water tracker once you enable it.
I love to light it up all the way back to the pineapple! That's eight freggies ~ not hard for me to do as a vegan, but I think it would be fun for all to play with. Check it out if you haven't seen it.
I've been doing a pretty good job with this even when I was really sick, I just added juices. I found Florida blueberries 'buy one get one free' so I bought 2 got 4. I've had 3 of my (personal goal) 6 today already. Yeah!

You know you're supposed to do this, right? Fruits and vegetables are our friends. They taste good, they're generally low in calories for their size, and they give us the nutrition that makes us the healthy, happy people we want to be.
Well, we've made their pursuit and ingestion a team goal. . Are you in with us? If so, go to the Happy Hippies main page, scroll to the bottom, and add it to your goals. Then, every day you meet your goal, put a little check mark in that day's box on your "Other Goals" (found on your spark points page). You will glow with satisfaction and health, and your team will thank you for the effort!
Clarification: *Freggie = fruit or vegetable Serving = a full serving; three cherry tomatoes and two pieces of limp lettuce will not equal a day's worth of 5 servings.
