Oh I would love a new trick to help my chocolate cravings. This sounds nice I have to try it the next time I hit the grocery store.

I also like to up my protein count by having more milk(lactose free at this stage in life) I take a cup of milk and add half tbs. of instant coffee, sweetener and vanilla. I go light on the ingredients. You can try this with fat free or other milk. I used coffee from the dollar store, which will last a long time.

Love learning new things, too. I tried black tea with milk, cocoa powder, sugar substitute and vanilla extract. Nice and it helped my chocolate craving. emoticon

I love chai tea. I also like ginger and and vanilla in my tea. I used to put loads of sugar in my tea but once I started adding things like vanilla, cinnamon and ginger I use less than a teaspoon or a packet of splenda. I even use less honey. Thrilled I learned these tricks.

Yes, I guess if I wanted to add a bit of milk, I would have a chai. emoticon

That sounds really good! An unusual combination.

Asparagus is a good deal, at the moment. (Wish I still had it in the garden.)

I like to roast it with a bit of lemon zest, olive oil, a touch of salt and pepper.

I could make a meal from this, but go light on the olive oil. emoticon

That's almost Chi Tea isn't it?
Thin sliced cabbage, onion, carrots and radish on toast with plain yogurt. I used spices to give the yogurt a flavor.
I don't like the texture of Gazpacho beans so I use either navy or white beans. Grilled pineapple, I spray PAM on both side and char them. (actually slightly burnt) I need nothing else. Crunchy, juicy, sweet/acidy emoticon finger licking good!

That sounds really good!

I like to use ginger, cinnamon and cayenne in my green tea, with a touch of honey.

Radishes. Wish I had planted some. I think I will, today.

I had some in a gazpacho, with pineapple and grilled scallops. Yummy and a new way to put things, together. As for the pricey scallops, they were given to me, so I did not bust the budget. emoticon

I just left a seminar on foods from the garden...

Almond tea...tea, lemon, honey, almond extract and seltzer.

radish sandwich radish sliced, cream cheese, a dab of tabasco, on bagel chip or on bread, I tried it on white potato slices. (bake potato) remove the skin slice thick, add cream cheese and sliced radish.

mint leaf, cream cheese, sliced cherry tomato, on potato, cracker or bread.

cooked celery (sliced thin) sour cream (sprinkle some of your favorite spices mix and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Add chicken, tuna, tofu etc voila! mayo not needed

thanks diane.i tend to use apple sauce to replace half the butter in recipes.i use flax seed for savory instead of eggs and yogurts in baking.i will try the bread and water next time but i had no homemade bread left at the time i made it in the oven at the same time as the meatloaf lol

Egg substitutes :

1. Blend 1 Tb ground flax seeds and 3 Tb. hot water - let them set 10 min. before using.

OR

2. 1 Tb. potato flakes and 2 Tb. water

OR

3. Applesauce (I don't know the amount)

OR

4. Mashed potato or even just diced raw potato

I don't have a lot of experience with these. (We have no egg allergies.) However, I hear the first one is really good for baked goods and pancakes, not as good for meatloaf.

I have made meatloaf with bread and water and not had it fall apart. (Similar to potato, I guess.)

I have heard raves about meatloaf made with applesauce, but have yet to try it.

I made a recipe I found here on spark Vegan Lentil Burger emoticon
www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/recipe_d
et
ails.asp?nutrition_id=1798631

I'm not vegan but I love lentils so thought I'd give it a go. I made it as the recipe is except I added some cayenne pepper for a bit of a kick. I didn't eat it as a burger as I thought that would just be too many carbs. Instead I served it with a homemade salsa and a side salad. It was quite good and even my son liked it and he is a meat lover. Since I am not vegan, next time I make this I will add a raw egg just to help it bind better, maybe even salsa right into the mixture.

To give freely without expectation is a true gift.

I had one of Chef Meg's salsas for lunch yesterday.

I made the 2 bean one. Only I did not have black beans nor the other bean called for in the recipe. So I used chick peas and kidney beans instead. It was still excellent. I will make it again!

Well, I love zucchini. I will even eat it raw!

I think my husband likes it best cooked in a frying pan with chicken and onions. Seasoned with some salt and pepper.

I had to look up marrow! I was pretty sure you weren't talking about bone marrow. Over here we call it squash. I don't think I have ever made meatloaf with squash in it. It sure sounds healthy.

Our favourite squash is zucchini. I am guessing you have the yellow summer squash?

A quick little challenge for you.

Cook something new, that you have not made before, and tell us about it by Friday.

The rules are simple.

1. It should be something healthy - and I don't mean a healthy version of cake! Something that you could maybe eat on a fairly regular basis as part of a healthy diet.

2. It should not be expensive. It does not need to be dirt cheap. We aren't looking for the cheapest food out there. However, it should not be made with things that you only buy once in a blue moon. Hopefully, it is made with food you already have in the house!
