Did you know they invented ellipticals at Guantanamo? It's true. And they were in fairly wide use, too, until someone realized waterboarding is cheaper. This is a Budget group, so I figured I'd throw that little factoid in there!

Today I used the elliptical until I couldn't take it any longer and walked and watered about 30 min in the sweltering heat. The heat index was 110 today, Ugh!!

You are doing great, Sylvia! I am avoiding the mid-day sun. I try and get in my exercise early and late. Before work and after supper.

Yesterday, I skipped my bike ride and mowed the lawn instead. Boy was I sweating! (But at least I was home. I even had the day off yesterday.)

Again, thirty minute lunchtime walks both Thursday and today... and God, was it sweltering! A person could drown in that humidity. I have a little spritzer bottle of spring water at my desk, and a battery operated fan. Those have been my salvation after those walks, lemme tell you!

30 min/2 miles - Leslie Sansone - with some ST too.

Zumba does look like it will be fun. I only spent 25 min learning steps, which was actually a bit of a workout by itself. Not hard, just moving parts that don't normally move that way. Then I watched the 20 min express workout and it looks fun and fast. I read some reviews for beginners doing Zumba, and mainly, even if the steps/moves aren't just right, as long as you are moving at that pace, you'll be burning alot of calories. The music is great.

I'm still here, I promise! I've just been busier than a hooker at a golfer's convention!

That might explain my sciatica on Monday. Or maybe not. At any rate, I felt just lousy enough to skip my lunchtime walk. I did get thirty minutes in both yesterday and today, though.

I haven't tried Zumba yet. It sounds like it could be fun!

I didn't have time for cardio this morning, and just feel too tired tonight, so I guess I will skip it.

I plan to get some in tomorrow morning before it gets too hot.

I'm in for the cardio. I will commit to 3 days and try to do more. I just received a "ZUMBA kit", so I plan on experimenting with that, the elliptical, and Walking DVD's with Leslie Sansone. I hope to do more.

As far as the recipe challenge, I'll have to pass on that one since I don't like cooking and my husband and I are not on the same plan, or even on the same schedule. The only challenge here is to have food in the house that we both like. The winter is easier since we both enjoy homemade soups, casseroles, etc. When we grill, it's all about the craving at the time.

When the weather is good, I like to do a lot of bike riding, just a half hour before work, and maybe a bit more after supper. However, when it is too hot and humid, I really have to push myself to do it just 3 times a week for 30 min.

That's my commitment for this week. I will try and do more.
