My biggest challenge on this journey is learning to exercise regularly and eat right most of the time. Iím an unorganized person, a little obsessive when I get drawn into a project and not great at prioritizing all the time. Iím something of a procrastinator sometimes, and I tend to use food to elevate my mood, especially when Iím stressed or down about something. Come to think of it, even when Iím feeling great thereís a tendency to use food as entertainment as well. So I need to learn to rely on other things for stress relief and entertainment.
I donít know a lot about fitness, and though Iím finding activities I think I could rather enjoy, I havenít yet made exercising a steady habit.
My health may be a bit of a problem to start with. Iíve recently had some heart problems and have a green light for exercise now but itís something Iím still a bit concerned about. I also have bum joints, knees and hips, as well as back and foot pain when Iím not careful. But all that means is that I have to be more aware and cautious about over exertion and that I have to hunt around a bit more to find exercises that arenít too painful.
I feel that making improvements in one area of my life though will probably help me make improvements in other areas as well. Iím really looking forward to that.
Balance is key between the two maximsÖ
1) Work hard.
2) If youíre having fun youíre not wasting your time.
It is hard to keep going when we don't see results. If I weren't seeing results, I think I would give up.
Of course, I've seen enough good results so far to keep me going if I hit a slump of a week or two. I have had weeks when my weight has gone up. However, the general trend is downwards. I have faith in this plan.
