Oops I forgot to get my last weigh in this morning. Will do that tomorrow morning and start off with it in the new challenge. I have lost weight, albeit not as much as I'd like, but any loss is good. Will keep trying and sooner or later I will get to my ideal weight.

Down a total of 8.5 lbs this challenge. Didn't make the 13 lbs, but I am oh so happy with what I did manage to accomplish. Congrats to everyone who succeeded in meeting this challenge and to those of us who hung in regardless of the amount of weight lost - we all did good just by participating and keeping focused. Now - on to the next challenge and with the holidays coming this is really going to be a challenge!

Yaaahoooo Moom!!!! emoticon That is something to celebrate, congratulations!!!!
Went to MD today, so figured weight won't change from today to tomorrow, and the scales run pretty close, so just used their weight. Didn't make the challenge, but that's ok, I'm on my way down and to me that is what matters. After the huge weight climb with moving stress, I realized it's all the way you look at it. I am grateful when the scale goes down, and hope as I lose more, I can do more and then will start to lose faster. Good luck to the rest, I know some have already beat the challenge and I think that is wonderful - Congrats to all of you!!!!!

I won't make my 13 pounds this time but at least my weight is still creeping down. Leaving on a cruise on Thursday so I know I'm gonna indulge a bit for 4 days but once I get home I'll get right back on plan. That's my last vacation time until Thanksgiving so I should have 7 good weeks before the holiday food starts. Last year I allowed myself to regain 12 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years, but I'm really going to try not to do that this year.

Hi everyone! So glad to be back after the 12-day trip to Europe for work. Everyone wanted to feed us well, and they did. Unfortunately, the only times I got much walking in was the days we flew -- lots of steps in airports.

So, I gained back some weight and am even slightly higher than when this challenge started. But I know it could be so much worse, so I am thankful for the experience and very glad to be back home.

Looking forward to the Oct. challenge and really doing what I should with it.

Okay the bad news is I didn't lose any pounds this week, stayed the same. Some good news is yesterday I went fishing with my hubby, and I was able to make it up the stairs with all my fishing gear emoticon Last year I had trouble climbing stairs, and made excuses not to go with my hubby there fishing because of the stairs. So, no victory on the scales, but I kicked those stairs butt, lol.

Its nice to get outside and be able to enjoy this fall weather! emoticon

I don't think I will make the deadline. My routine got disrupted for a long time and slowly getting back up. Gained weight due to not exercising and stuffing myself with good foods! Now, I am facing this weight head on because I refused to buy bigger clothes!!! I got rid of all of them already. More Cardio, Zumba and walking on my list every week.

emoticon peanutsdog. I do the home made ice tea also. quit drinking soda's last year, never did drink the diet ones. I do an hr of line dance 3 days a week. It does help in many areas.

Forestpal - glad you are in for another round. We may or may not hit the 13 lbs in 13 weeks, but any loss is a positive change!
Dmkoep - a high HDL is not bad, but it may be an indicator of a high total cholesterol because it does contribute to your total cholesterol level. It is confusing since we are told that a high HDL is good and protects us from heart disease. Was your total cholesterol high?
Sounds like others have been seeing some success with the scales!
Peanutsdog - wow that is an aggressive goal for the end of October! Best of luck. Good for you on giving up the diet soda, I did that a few years ago and do not regret it.

I'm down 12 pounds! My Goal is to be down 25 pounds by Oct 31st! I have a great meal plan from my dietician. I joined a dance group that my friend set up we are challenged to dance 10mins each day this week! So far I've danced Yesterday for 20mins and my goal for today is to dance 20mins and each day afterward to increase the minutes. I love to dance! My other goal is to drink 8 glasses of water a day. I am slowing cutting down on my diet dew. My goal is to give up soda completely. Homemade ice tea!

well. I had bloodwork and apparently my cholesterol levels are up. My ldl is a little high but my hdl is really high. So my doc put me on something called Red yeast rice supplement.
Now I have to figure out (it's soooo confusing) how/why my healthy cholesterol is high and how/why that is a bad thing.... emoticon

Good for you Forestpal for sticking with it. Your weight may not be coming off as fast as you would like but it looks like your on a downward trend which is great. I keep sticking with the challenges because posting or owning up to my weight keeps me focused on it. I actually weigh-in once a week in three separate places - here, at the gym where a group of us do a weekly weigh-in and if we go up it's .50 cents a pound, and at work where a group of us weigh-in and there it's $1.00 a pound if we go up....... I beginning to feel like a cheap piece of beef at a $1.50 a pound - lol. But I it's keeping me focused and overall my weight has been going down. Accountability - there is something to it. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Surely a pound a week is not too much to ask for. I'm really tired of posting food I eat, but I know that's the secret. Thought I would skip the next challenge, but it too, keeps me on track. Now that I see some others that aren't meeting the goal, I feel comforted that writing down my weight each week is motivation enough to keep plugging away. Also my hip & leg pain are improving enough for me to get more exercise too. . . so I'm in again.

Chris - Right you are! The challenge is not a competition - it is to challenge ourselves and the group is support. Any loss is great! The journey for some takes longer, but the goal is to get there and maintain, not matter how long it takes. There may be ups and downs along the way, it is just important to hang in there and persevere! Learn what works, what does not work and how to break through the plateaus that we eventually will hit. Then ultimately learn how to maintain our goal weights so we don't end up back where we were!

Irene - I'm pretty good over the holidays too. My biggest challenge will be baking cookies - at least that is what I'm thinking right now.
For those of you on the fence about the next challenge - we'll be here if you decide to join us or to just stop by and say hi and let us know how you are doing!
Carol - great job on another lb down! I also do challenges for myself too. I am currently signed up for a 10k (hope I can do it!) and I have a goal of 12,000 steps a day just to keep myself moving. I make that one about 6 days out of 7 - sometimes travel or family commitment gets in the way.
All in all, I have enjoyed these challenges as a forum to meet my fellow Sparkers, cheer them on, get valuable advice, and share what I have learned.

Do you want to drink more water, stick to so many days exercising, fit in an old too small pair of pants, etc. By accomplishing some mini goals, it might add up to a loss on the scale, but if it doesn't at least you have made some positive changes emoticon

I'm undecided about joining the next 13 13. Wish today was my weigh in day tho. I lost 2 #s. I need to lose 2 lbs a week to catch up on this challenge.

Let the good times increase as the weight shrinks.

I'm not saying, I am not for it......just mentioning the fact about the holiday's. I do ok during holidays. After all, it is about life style changes and holidays need not to be anybody's undoing.

Irene - right you are, takes us through some holidays that will be a challenge! But everyone seems geared up for another 13/13 so onward we go!
I will be hitting my one year anniversary on 12/27. This is the longest I have stuck with anything which really shows this is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change. So, on we go. We will wrap this one up shortly and move forward. I for one am glad that everyone wants to continue.

Well it appears that another 13 in 13 challenge is in the works and I am so happy to hear it. I'm closer to meeting this challenge than I was in the last challenge so, thinking positively, another can only get better! Have a great week everyone!

emoticon Just stopping in to say hello!!! I haven't abandoned everyone. Just getting accustomed to working after 6 months of unemployment. Feels so good to be back in the working world. I can feel my personal stress level dropping. Now I just need to get back on track. Life is good!!! emoticon Gained a few pounds while away from SP, but I am back to where I was before the new job. Moving in the right direction. I am ready for the next 13 in 13.
