Kay, I know about chips, once I get started it's hard to stop!! Last week Mike went into a store to get some ice and came out with TWO bags of potato chips!! That's not nice! LOL

OBOSAGE, the best thing I've found to stop mindless eating is chewing gum. But if you really have to eat something, eat some carrots or celery sticks, I prefer radishes but they are all good and low calories.

Kate, how did your parade go? Was it as hot as you said?

Well, I didn't get in my ST over the weekend, got in 7 servings of fruits & veggies both days and got no hiking or walking in on Sunday. One out of three, not too bad.

Sounds like everyone did a great job!!

I didn't manage to accomplish my #1. In fact, found some of those lost pounds. Trying to get back on track -- after a picnic today.

Best thing I've found for stopping the mindless eating, is just try to catch yourself before you start. Try to find a distraction, go for a quick walk, have a glass of water, chew gum, knit, whatever will get you away from the food/trigger for about 5-15 minutes. If you still want whatever it was, portion a small bit out, and go to a different place/room and enjoy it. Don't take the entire bag/portion to the sofa and munch mindlessly. The more you do this the easier it will become to stop at a reasonable point, or to not start at all. It's not about not eating, it's about not eating mindlessly.

Well, I can report that I did my yoga on Monday afternoon, 38 min DVD. It was nice after the ride on Sunday, which I'm so happy I did.

We went out for Mexican last night, so the chips were had! That said, they weren't Larry's chips, so I just enjoyed...and my HRM showed a 2000 calorie burn for the bike ride, so I'm not going to sweat it.

The bike ride WAS quite enjoyable too! I kept this challenge in mind, and really did enjoy it. Such great lake views, and the trail was not as bad as I thought it might be. Sure there were some areas where I was more cautious, but for the most part I could ride it, and the rest I walked.

The yoga, not done yet. I'd like to get it in today, I did a small stretch on Saturday (just 5 minutes worth) and did some stretching yesterday for my bike sore muscles, but not a "real" session, so today that's my goal!

I only just saw this as well.

1. Continue staying within my 1800 calories & eating to lower my BG.

2. Marching in a parade tomorrow. Step off is at noon, & it will be over 100. I should sweat at least a pound off, if not two!

3. Yikes -- I can't think of anything else!

I only just saw this today! (It's Saturday...)

1) No more chips! Larry has a bag, and while I try to stay out of them, they are a weakness of mine, and so hard to resist. I had some for lunch, so that is it for the weekend.

2) Enjoy our planned ride tomorrow (we're doing the Flume trail by Lake Tahoe) and not worry about the "unknown" I have heard some great things about this trail, and also that there are some sections that can be a little scary. So I'm going to try to keep my head out of it, and just enjoy. I can always get off the bike and walk if I want to!

3) get in some yoga. I try to do yoga a few times a week, it really helps my stress level, but I tend to slack on the weekend, so I'm going to get in at least one good session in this weekend.

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, too many errands, and I missed my ST so...

I will get in my Friday's strength training Sat or Sun, be sure to eat at least 5 fruit & vegies both days, and for the third thing, make sure I get in at leat a mile of hiking or walking on Sunday.

We are leaving tomorrow (Sunday) for a few days (going up the Calif coast) so I'll post back here when I get home.

Good luck everyone!!! emoticon

3 things....

I have this hill a few blocks away from my house. And to help my endurance and what not in hiking (i'm not very good at it, I get tired quickly), I wanted to start going up and down that hill, with my hiking bag and what not. I was thinking about doing that tomorrow morning.

And.... go for at least a mile walk this weekend, not including the trudging up and down the hill.

and 3rd... ummm... I can't think of anything.

I don't know. I am so free today and some what this weekend. My kids went off to camp yesterday and my husband probally won't be home tonight, becuase of work. But today I did go on a 5 1/2 mile hike at 5 am this morning. So I will just let you know if I did good or not. I can feel those little devil horns peeking out of my head with all this freedom.

I have been trying to spend at least one day of the weekend outside, doing something active for most of the day. Last week activity wasn't very glamour filled and I didn't get outside- but my bathrooms and wood floors are sparkling now.
This weekend it is scuba diving on sunday.

Let's start a weekend challenge. Weekends always seem to be the hardest because we are off our regular routines from the work week and we tend to eat bad & not exercise any.

I'm sending this out early so we can think about what we are going to do.

For this weekend, post 3 things you will do to help meet your goals, whether it's hiking or diet.

Come back on Monday and let everyone know how you did, good, bad or ugly!!
