So far this week, I've got in about 17 miles, we did a 12 mile bike ride on Sunday, and I got in about 5 and a half on the elliptical on Weds. Hope to get out today before it clouds up, but I've been really sore lately, and my ankle is hurting, not sure why...

Yesterday I did a 15.6 mile hike and today I did an 11.4 mile hike. That puts me at around 45 miles for the week - woo hoo! I love this incredibly beautiful weather!

I'm up for the challenge..though I don't normally walk a mile in 15 minutes..more like 30.but I still make it! And I'm just starting out. Plus, I hope to be able to use a bike soon..see how far I get. emoticon

I've gotten 9 miles of hiking and a bunch of miles of biking so far this week. We're going to do either a trail run or a hike tomorrow, then Sunday I'm planning about a 75 mile bike ride.

Sherri - LOL, only 11? That's great! I agree with enjoying every foot.

My numbers are really high because of including the biking in them. If I pull the biking out, or drop it only to mountain biking, my miles are considerably less. I did a quick 35 mile ride out to the beach this weekend. It was wet and foggy, but it got really windy in the afternoon, so I was glad I did it before the wind hit.

From 9/11 - 9/18 I've gotten 17 miles, but Sun, Mon & Tues I was camping and don't know how many miles I put in hiking up and down the river!? It was probably close to 16 hours but not constant hiking, I was fishing, too.

20.5 miles of hiking this past week, including 6 miles in NHs' Crawford Notch on Friday. Didn't get to make the summit of mt Eisenhower, we turned back for weather, but we did finish up with a walk around a couple of the lakes in the notch.
Nothing the week before, and I go back to work this week, so not sure how much I'll get in. Pouring today.

No hiking today. Elliptical and weights in the morning, swimming this evening. Tomorrow will be a trail run and I should put some miles in then.

I've logged 63.5 miles so far this week between my bike and my legs. Should get in a long trail run this weekend.

This is easily accomplished if you are already challenging yourself to walk 10,000 steps per day; instead of logging all my steps I only log the steps on actual "walks" (in other words I don't include walking around the house, or at the store, etc. -- just those walks that take me outside for the specific purpose of exercise. For me, I get just shy of 2700 steps in a mile (but I have long legs and a long stride) so every day I get in a little over 3 miles just meeting the 10,000 step challenge. Equate that to 5 days and I've met this challenge and my 10,000 step goal..... That being said, anyone out there up to amping the weekly challenge to something closer to 25-30 miles a week? Just wondering, Tahoegal95 aka Jo

For the month of August I got in a total of 58 1/2 miles. Not as many as I would liked to have seen but not too horrible either.

Now on to September and better mileage! Keep up the good walking/hiking/biking everyone and lets keep posting on how we're doing!

I got in 18 miles this week, up to 69 for the month so far! (that does include bike miles).

I'm not getting in my usual trail miles since I'm swimming a mile and doing strength training...but that's okay, it's all good. I'll show more now that you've included biking.

I'm not sure what we'll do this weekend. We're taking our daughter to her new college, so we may get in some trail running in the Santa Cruz (California) area. I'm hoping for an endurance bike ride on Sunday, but it will depend on how far we run on Saturday : )

I should also say I'm at 108 miles through 8/20, this includes biking, trail running and hiking miles.

Since my last post I got in another 21 1/2 miles up to Aug 15, for a month total of 34 1/2 miles. That's giving me 17.25 miles per week average.

I was at 16 miles last time I posted, and got in 35 since then (it was a while ago...)including a 16 mile mountain bike ride today (a lot of mountain bike walking involved, pushing that bike up the steep sandy roads we were on). I'm up to 51 miles so far this month. That actually sounds like a lot!

I have been such a slacker!!! Between a busy schedule, a daughter that keeps backing out on hikes, and rain, rain, rain I just haven't been getting out to walk or hike. Hopefully I can get a few miles in this weekend!!

HI all,

I've been away all this week in FL on a last minute trip with a friend. No hiking down here in the heat and hummidity. I did get in a 5 1/2 mile hike last Thursday just before we left so add those miles to last week. I'll be back in Maine on Saturday and will resume my hiking workouts and post more miles next week.

Hi Dharma1961, the challenge is to hike, bike or walk 15 miles a week. You can post daily or weekly how your miles are going. I also have a monthly mileage team goal set up on the home page you can join.

Tues 3 miles & Wed 3 miles. I'm at 13 miles for the month so far.

Downpours here today! No outdoor walking for me today and no chance to go home and get on the ski machine. Hopefully this weather pattern we've been stuck with most of the summer will move out before the summer's over! I do have a full well and a green lawn though!

3 miles in this morning. I have a nice mile long steep hill that goes from my house to the center of town (the store, the firestation and the one blinking stoplight)and then looped around some side roads, and headed home....and I beat the rain!

Got 2 mile this morning. I just love that uphill!! We're fortunate, we live in the Cleveland Natl Forest area and have plenty of hills to climb around here.

I hate shopping. I usually send my DH out with a list, LOL.

I got in 3 miles this morning hiking with my yellow lab. A nice loop hike with some good uphill challenges to get the blood pumping. Real motivated to keep up with the exercise after seeing a loss for last week.

Since you're OK with counting biking, I can join too! I'm hoping to eventually add some hiking time too, but we've mostly been on the bikes lately.

I"m in on this one. unfortunately have to stay close to home this weekend, but I did get 4 miles along the river near a local dam, today....hot and buggy, but the only people I saw were a couple on a bike in the parking lot and the guy mowing the bank embankment,...had the river trail all to myself!

117! Wow Heather, I was complaining here about 92 degrees. Of course, we also have 78% humidity, and I'm not sure which is worse, the heat or humidity. We hiked 2 miles this morning on a strenuous trail and we were all soaking wet when we finished. Still glad I got out and went though.

Thanks, Rhonda! We aren't hiking tomorrow :( It's just way too hot, heat advisories all over the place. Yesterday it was 117...ugh. Guess I'll be at the gym instead!

Losing weight is a little like hiking. If you only look at how big the mountain (or how much you want to lose) is, it becomes overwhelming. But, if instead you look just 5 feet (or 5 pounds) ahead, it isn't quite so hard!

I'm not sure how this works. I joined the team challenge, but on my goals, the week was already checked off. Mayabe it just counted the minutes of cardio and divided by 15 to get miles? If that's the case, it makes sense, but most of the exercise was jazzercize and spinning. I hiked 3 miles today.

Ok, I am up for this challenge. I figure even if it rains I can walk around the house, or use the elliptical machine, this is a challenge I can do in intervals and still get some benefit. Thanks for starting it. Off I go....

Any way we can toss biking into this? I've been trying the bike at the gym to give my knee a break.

I like this challenge and I hope the rest of you do also.

Each week, let's hike or walk 15 miles. Now, that's only a little more than 2 miles 7 day's a week. For those of us who don't know how many miles you've have walked, use 15 min = 1 mile.

I have also set this one up as a team goal so we can watch our team progress on the home page. (You just have to join this goal)
