So very true. My weight used to be a constant battle...up, down, up, down...but once I got my mind straight, then my body followed. I have been maintaining a 70+ weight loss for over 2 years, now, and it is without a bit of struggle. It can be done! emoticon

Agreed that the scale is just one factor.....I went two months losing only two pounds recently. However, my clothes have been getting baggier and baggier so I finally bought a few new clothes (two sizes down WHOOHOO). I keep hearing muscle weighs more than fat......so weight is not everything.

My friends call me Beegee. My best friend has the same first name as me (high school buddies) so they call me by my initials ha.

This is a great article. I am not a scale watcher. I know when I am doing the right things. My body tells me. However I will hop on the scale once a month maybe. It is always useful to know the numbers. However I am more interested in the numbers that indicate dress size!

I last posted on this subject on 11/21/09 a week after my husband took my measurements. He measured me again on 12/13/09. Between 11/14/09 and 12/13/09 I only lost 1.5 pounds.
emoticon
However, when he measured me, I had lost an additional 5.5 inches! The abdomen measurement itself was 1.5 inches smaller than the previous month!
emoticon
So, don't get discouraged when the needle on the scale is not moving. Just keep doing what you know is the right thing and keep tracking. You will succeed!

This is such a great article and so very true. I was a bit discouraged because I only lost 2 pounds last month. However, when my husband measured me I had lost inches (1-3/8 inches off my abdomen.) Furthermore, I measured my body fat and, even though I only lost 2 pounds according to the scale, I lost 3 pounds of fat. We need to remember, when we are doing exercises to build strength, that muscle weighs more than fat. So don't let the scale get you discouraged!

Excellent article, thank you! My scale goes up n down, but minimum 5# have stayed off in less than two weeks, and that is a record for me. I feel SO much better! Even 5# makes a difference in how my clothes fit and the loss really motivates me to stay focused on the SP program.

This is one of my Go To Articles, when I need motivation or encouragement, it helps me focus on the Progress I am making, NOT JUST a number on a scale. I started a blog "Counting my Blessings" another measurement I use when the scale isn't moving in the right direction. I am so happy I measure. The measurements have gone down. I can walk the dog around the block without pain and without getting tired. I can cook an entire meal, standing the entire time. Etc. etc. I feel so much better than I did just 30 days ago.

Think about what I will feel like in 90 days. Wow.

I love Spark. I find the articles so encouraging and always right on the mark for me.

This is an article to save because it is so true, the scale isn't the only indicator of weight loss. It is the one indicator that causes discouragement.
