My name is Joanne and I would like to have a maintenance buddy. I was 142 LBS and 5' 1 and 1/2 when I joined Spark People in October 2013. I wore a size 10 or 12. Now I weigh 125 and wear a size 6 or 8. I had been struggling with my weight for years, losing and gaining back the same 5 LBS over and over despite regular exercise. The turning point for me was when I started having severe stomach pain in October. I had an endoscopy and nothing major was found wrong. However, I have had to watch fats and acidic foods. Now that the pain is almost gone, it is hard to deal with the temptation to go back to eating the way I did before.

It feels like my body "wants the weight back." It doesn't feel like my body sometimes.

Hi, I am looking for a buddy. I lost weight way back in 2010 and have struggled with maintenance ever since. I have been very encouraged to find this board on Spark People because maintenance does not seem to be addressed nearly as much as it should. I am about 6 pounds about my target weight and have not been able to budge those pounds. I exercise and track calories. I am looking for a buddy to help me stay on track with slooowww progress. Hi Ladies.
I have been struggling with my weight for years. I'm going to be 50 in Feb. and I have a weight range goal of 135 to 140. I'm tired of fighting to keep it lower as I'm getting older and just want a healthy bmi. I have slipped and gained about 10 pounds but am working towards getting it back off. I know how important it is to take accountability and I am I regained some weight because of a family tragedy that knocked the wind out of my sails and stopped tracking and exercising regularly but now more then ever it's important for me to stay healthy so I'm here recommitted and looking for someone that is of like mind.

Hi. I also just lost 20 pounds. I am 5'3", 121.4 pounds. I was 143 pounds in March. I am 50 and I know I am a lot older, but if you want an extra buddy I would love to be your buddy. I don't want to regain my weight and would like to communicate with someone weekly if they have the time. I workout with weights and use a recumbent stepper at the gym and swim.

Just completed the survey...and said I didn't use this, but now I've decided to give it a try. I feel like my spark community is dwindling. The people I started with on SP show up here less and less. I need buddies that are in for the long haul and are solidly committed to the journey. I understand slip ups every now and then, but I don't accept excuses for giving up.

I'm Carol, almost 55, maintaining 60 pounds lost for almost 5 years. Married, grandmother, nurse, love the beach. I live in Pensacola, FL, love running (short distances and just for calorie burn...no speed demon here!) and a variety of fitness classes. I track my weight every day. I'm tough as nails on eating during the weekdays, but give myself a little freedom on the weekends, holidays and vacations...unless the scale is in the danger zone...above 140. I would love for the danger zone to be above 135 or even 130 one day.

I need buddies that I can count on to stay in touch with on FB, text, email and here on SP. I also use runkeeper. If you are as hardcore as I am (and perhaps a little on the obsessive side about it) message me so we can exchange contact info.

Hello! My name is Brenda and I am a 39 year old mother of 2 boys, 12 and 19. I work full-time, spend as much time as possible with my family, am active in my church, and try like crazy to get in my exercise, as difficult as that may be. I have been maintaining for 6 weeks now. I've been thinking I don't need a buddy, but now I think I do. I'm having a tough time getting back to healthy eating after celebrating a raise at work (with food) and enjoying Halloween candy. I'd like to find a buddy to check in with at least twice a week, probably on Fridays and Mondays, through the holiday season. I'm open about whether we check in via cell phone, texting, e-mail, SparkPeople, etc. I'm a somewhat private person and will keep everything totally confidential and would appreciate the same in return. I should mention that I've been a Sparker since 2007 and have met my goal weight many, many times. I just haven't been able to figure out maintenance. Hi! I'm Maderine. I'm 43 years old, the mother of two great guys (14 and 8), and the wife of one great guy (44). I struggle to take care of myself in ways that don't just feel nurturing in the moment (ie carbs) but actually ARE nurturing, both in the moment and over the long haul. I lost over 60 lbs in the early 1990s and, for the most part (and excluding both pregnancies), I kept it off over the intervening 20 years. Every few years or so I creep up about 5-10 lbs, typically when my work life gets out of control and I start using food as an antidote. Usually I get back in gear and take it back off slowly and sensibly, but sometimes, like now, I freak the *$#@ out and start to panic. Which makes me eat. Which makes me panic. Which makes me eat. I *get* the emotional eating roller coaster, I really do.

I am currently enrolled in a "Mama Wants Her Body Back" fitness class and I totally dig it. I am learning to be a runner and have been quite challenged as I work on changing from a heel-strike novice runner to a midfoot-strike novice runner. I like gardening, day-hikes, and walks with my family, but I also like to sit on my butt and read or knit or surf SP. I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I really don't care if anyone else is or not (it's a lifestyle choice for me, not a religion, so feel free to talk to me about your hamburger cravings.)

I would like to support and be supported by anyone with a good sense of humor, an open mind, and a tolerance for four-letter words. I tend toward depression but am not looking for someone to whine/complain at. My work schedule is pretty crazy so I can't promise more than a once-a-week connection, but even that, I think, would help me a lot. Please feel free to send me a message if you think we could have a good time getting through the upcoming food-filled holidays together!

Hi, my name is Jenn and I have been maintaining since June 18th of 2011. I lost 60 pounds in 10 months using Weight Watchers, Zumba and running. For the last 3 weeks or so, I have really been struggling with eating right and I am not sure what to do to get back on track. I am gaining weight and it is making me really depressed, which should ship me back into shape, but it is just making me slack more. UGH! I worked too hard to give up! Hi, my name's Julie and I'm looking for a buddy to help keep me accountable. I'm a teacher and a mom, I just reached goal, and have never been successful at staying there once I get there. I want to become a maintainer, even during the holidays, a time when I often overeat and start to backslide.

Hi. I'm Aileen, and I'm currently looking for a buddy for weekly (to daily) check-ins either here or on Facebook. I've been at my current maintence weight on and off for 2 1/2 years now, with a big break in the middle of that when I had my second child. I'm currently suffering with a lot of health setbacks (herniated discs in my lumbar spine, umbilical hernia surgery last week, chronic pain), and while that sounds sort of depressing, I do try to keep an upbeat attitude, and I would love someone to help keep my perspective positive.
Since I'm in this for the long haul, I think it would be nice to develop a friendship/buddyship for the foreseeable future. No specific end date unless life or time restraints change that.
I'm looking for at least one buddy, but I'm open to more than that. I really do love SparkPeople, but since I don't log in here every single day, messages are more likely to get to me if they're left right on my SparkPage.
Other than that, I'm a SAHM, lover of running (oh, how I miss it!), reader, and a pretty laid-back person.

Hi! My name is Mj, 53 yrs young, and I am looking for a maintenance buddy that has some experience to share. I just entered maintenance about 2 weeks ago and am struggling eating enough healthy calories and am also wanting to up protein, down the carbs. I need someone who is alright with someone struggling to eat enough healthy calories-maybe you experienced this? Having been a yo-yo dieter all my life, I feel this beginning maintenance is crucial. Also have had some major stress just happen so difficult to stick with planning, etc. If you need encouragement, that is one of my strengths. This team offers such wonderful support to our members and there are so many different perspectives we can all learn from. However, with more than 16,000 members and counting, finding individual support from our fellow maintainers can sometimes be a difficult task. To help our members who want extra personalized support, we're creating this forum as a meeting point for people who are looking for maintenance buddies.

If you would like to buddy up with another member for extra accountability, help preventing binges or backslides or just as an additional check-in to help keep you on track, please make your request here. In order to find the best match possible, please be as specific as possible in your request. Some things to consider including are:

-Why you would like a buddy
-How long you would like to buddy up for and how often you would like to check-in with each other (Some people may just want a buddy to help them get through a rough patch, others may want to do weekly check-ins or check-ins for a specific number of days each month, while others might want more frequent check-ins)
-How many buddies you would like (it could be a good idea to request more than one if you want frequent check-ins)
-How you propose communicating with each other (private messages, comments on each other's pages, etc.)
-Any other information you think would be important for a prospective buddy to know about you

Here's an example message:

"Hi, my name's Tina and I'm looking for a buddy to help keep me accountable during the holidays, a time when I often overeat and start to backslide. I'm looking two buddies who would be willing to check-in with me either on Fridays or Mondays each week (weekends are tough for me!) from now until the beginning of January. I'd like to communicate with my buddies via private message and promise to keep all of our conversations confidential. I promise to do my best to give you the support you need and hope that we can help each other out!"

Please remember that being a buddy is a two-way street, so if you're asking for help, you should also be prepared to give it. Once you find a buddy, we just ask that you please take your discussions off this thread to make room for others who are searching.
