You know it's funny....my favorite activities used to be reading, cross stitch, watching movies, playing computer games. Now in my spare time I run, go to the gym, practice martial arts....notice a big difference? How has weight loss led to a more active lifestle for any of you?

emoticon excellent for you!

My victory was the past few days not sucking in my gut! I don't have a gut to suck in! I cannot believe how pumped I was thinking about that too. I had tucked in my shirt and wasn't worried my belly would flip over the waist of the jeans!

I think that is why they say that it is very very SIMPLE, but one of the hardest things most of us have ever done. "Simple" doesn't mean "easy".

Which is why weight loss Success is such a big deal, and deserves lots of applause!

People ask me the "secret" all the time, Lilac93. It's like they're expecting me to say "it was effortless...I drank 3 shakes a day and took 2 magic pills" or something. I tell them it's as easy as more calories burned than consumed! Easy science. Congrats on your weight loss- that's so awesome!

Regular exercise and diet is the only way to go. So many people ask me how I did it and when I tell them that their face falls. They need to learn the same lesson I finally did...there is no "trick" or "quick fix", just a lot of hard work and changing your mindset.

Congratulations on your weight loss!
I went from a 2X down to a size 12 bathing suit and a size 6 jeans. I just bought the bathing suit a couple of weeks ago and for the first time I really look sexy in one. I too am building my wardrobe slowly. It does feel great going into any store to pick out something.
I have been slowly letting go of my fat clothes. (Still a bit scared.) I am now just starting to go through my summer stuff to see what fits and it seems that even my previously slim clothes are now too big for me. I love it!
I really think that perserverence is the key to staying slim. I realize that I am beginning to tell the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger. That has made a huge difference.

It's probably too late, but it is good to save one piece of your fat clothes so that one day you can look back and see where you came from.

Great job getting a new dress. Isn't it great to be able to shop in regular stores. It does add more selection to the process of shopping.

I understand the rebuilding of the wardrobe. I have been slowly rebuilding mine. Today I bought a new pair of exercise pants at a store I couldn't shop in before as their largest size was a 14 (and I wore a 20), but bought a size 6 today!

emoticon I know for me I just feel great not having all the extra baggage! I love being able to get around and do what I want. Even cartwheels and flips with the kids! emoticon And not having to shop in the plus size section is a plus!!! Lol!

RaylinS.- I know what you mean. I have been able to share a few things with my 17 year old daughter, not pants but at least some jackets and such. I NEVER thought we'd be able too.

Mary- I know about the shoes, I went down like a whole size...feet aren't really something you think about when you want to lose weight, but they do shrink too.
It took me quite a while to get rid of my really fat clothes. I needed to feel secure in getting rid of them. I still have my one pair of jeans, just to remind me how far I've come. I now need to get rid of some of my "in between" stuff, so that it's not too tempting!

Please please let me remind everyone to donate your "fat" clothes to the Salvation Army or a church thrift shop. Your "fat" clothes will be a godsend to women who are passing through that size on the way down. Who wants to spend money on clothes when you are finally successful and won't be there long?

Congratulations, Lilac. Isn't it just the best feeling? I, who hated clothes shopping, now can hardly wait to buy new dresses, jeans, and tops. I even went to a smaller shoe size. My biggest shopping thrill was when DH insisted on buying me a gown for an upcoming dinner dance. I saw the dress of my dreams but insisted I couldn't possibly wear it because I was still thinking "too fat". It fit perfectly, and I danced all night. I went from 14 pants and 16 tops to 6 pants and 8 tops.

The most important thing I did, in my opinion, was to get rid of every single piece of "fat" clothing. There is nothing left in the closet if I re-gain the weight. So I simply can't.

Congratulations.

For me it is the feel of a dress falling over my hips and there are no bumps at the waist or hips. It feels great.

WTG on your size 9 dress!! WooHoo!!

My victory is being able to wear some of the hand-me-ups from my neighbor's teenage daughter!! They vary in size, but I can tell you it feels great! Mostly I am in the "new" size 6's and occasionally a 4 depending on the cut of the jeans.

I am just enjoying being able to wear some Smalls instead of needing X-Large!

Congratulations. My smallest size at goal had been a size 6 pants.... I started losing when I was stuffing myself into 14's and should have been getting 16's. Last summer I started strength training, not really losing much more weight, but somehow rearranging my body to a size 4 jeans and mostly smalls in tops. I know how you feel. Looking in the mirror is not a horror!

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Wow I am impressed. A Size 9. You must look great. Congratulations. I know I love to shop for clothes now. I wear a 10 or 12 and I love it.

Congrats!! It really is wonderful to fit into the clothes that are meant to look gorgeous than meant to cover you up!

Remember when semi-formals were called "cocktail dresses"? Or am I showing my age?

I had to go buy a semi-formal dress...one reason I needed to buy one... Because of the amount of weight I lost, I basically needed a whole new wardrobe and have been spending the last year slowly building it. Haven't had much time for dress clothes since it's not something I wear on a regular basis. It was so much fun to shop for one!! It was always a nightmare before. The dresses in the plus size section are always limited choices, usually ugly, and let's face it nothing was really going to look good on me anyway. I mean maybe If I could have afforded to go someplace upscale, but at the stores I was at it was a no go. Anyway I got a really cute dress and it was only a size 9! So it really was a grea tmoment for me. Any others out there with a victory to share?
