Anything by Joel Fuhrman gives a lot of info, but I've not found him to be as inspirational as some. BUT, I feel that being in excellent health and with positive energy keeps us open to so much more and is the key to being enlightened or inspired.

There are MANY food/nutrition books that I love, but two that have had a big impact on me are Eat To Live by Dr. Joel Furhman, and What to Eat by Marion Nestle. They reveal some interesting things about what health information the public is allowed to hear, where our food recommendations REALLY come from, and some other fun tidbits ;-)

Worldwalk (or Worldwalker?) by Steven M. Newman is an amazing journey about a man who took 4 years to walk around the world, and his encounters along the way. Since I have the travel bug, I love this one - lots of amazing cultures and finding the good in humanity along the way (something I struggle to see some days.)

And yes, Autobiography of a Yogi is a very interesting read. Nothing like what I experience with my yoga and meditation, but lots of good words of wisdom and some interesting anecdotes!

I really love Enlightened! I've heard some negative reviews but I think it's a great book.

I went to my library website to see if any of the books mentioned so far were available... the only one they even have is In Her Shoes and it's out (and was due 8/23 -_- RAWR)

Enlightened seems like a great book, I'll check it out!
I liked "In her shoes" the book, it's definitely not deep but it was fun and both characters improve areas of their lifes they did not think possible

Thank you CarolJean! I'll be looking up those books! =-D

Shoopette- any kind is fine =-D I mean, of course yoga books are the best, but I love books that tell the story of someone overcoming and conquering something (if that makes sense). In Enlightened (which is a great bedtime book) she talks about how she was always overweight and what contributed to that and then how she overcame it. Throughout the books she gives different yoga poses and recipes to try. It's very cute. I really wish they had a genre for this type of book lol

I am reading several books right now. Although it is very removed from my own experience Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda is very intriguing. I just starte "Your body speaks its mind" by Keleman and love it so far. Also Max Strom's book "A Life worth Breathing" is wonderful with his own story, lessons and activities to enhance your breathing.

Lost 65 lbs and maintained since 2006.

Hi Everyone!

I'm looking for some book suggestions. I know we have a topic for books and videos, but I'm looking for more of an inspirational/motivational book to read.

I tend to read for a bit before bed and I'm almost done with my current book, so now comes the time I need suggestions!

The book I'm currently reading is Enlightened by Jessica Berger Gross and Im really enjoying it. It's definitely the style of book that I enjoy reading; inspiring, motivational, a bit funny at times, with real life stuck in... I can't think of how to explain it.
It reminded me a little of The Nonrunners Marathon Guide for Women by Dawn Dais... I looooved that book when I was running.

I plan to go to the library tomorrow to pick up In Defense of Food because I was told that I HAVE to read it... but would love more suggestions. Any suggestions? Please? =-(
