The appeal of going to a retreat is to find many people instructors and fellow practitioners to share and learn, to be out of the customary place of living also, like a holiday. It is good for the mind to be away from the routine.

Why should a yoga retreat have to be an elsewhere destination retreat?

I posted you could have a retreat in your own living space (if you have no rugrats or other encumbrances, though) ... a while back ...

But barring that, there are some advantages in being an out-client in an urban (preferably resort urban) spa setting ... I did the same for general fitness ... (though I have to admit the food was not spartan or sattvic (I was no yogi at the time, so I mean this as "spartan" for yogis equalling "vegan" or "teetotalling"--which are considered to be sattvic) at a resort hotel a few miles from where I used to live in Miami Beach, Florida (year-round, as a young adult working-stiff) ...

Great for adjusting to a then-recent divorce ...

Any life-change, goforspa! whatever the arrangements ...

I receive the Kripalu magazine (kripalu.org), they have several programs in the spring, summer, fall and winter, the price varies acconding to the length of the stay from weekend to full week or two. Request a magazine for free by signing up in the site. The price for a Spring program accommodations per person, per night range from $86-$384 plus the tuition for the program. Included are meals, daily yoga classes, non ticketed evening events and use of fitness room, sauna and whirlpool. The Spring R&R Retreat Accommodations all inclusive start at $166.

I've always wanted to go, Kripalu is in Massachusetts, Near Albany,NY, so for me living in southern Texas is quite far, for a while I was saving but then my husband was forced to retire and the money become less, so although it is in my bucket list, it is a long shot for me. Hope you are able to go to the one you want.

I'm hoping to be able to go to a yoga retreat later this year, which would be my first one. Has anyone else been to a retreat? How was your experience? Was it worth it?

Also, does anyone have any idea on what they cost? The ones I've looked at so far have been over $200/day, which I'm not sure I can justify. Does anyone have any input?

Thanks! emoticon
