Tracking the calories expended in yoga is very difficult. I checked out a couple sites and one suggested you burn about 30% more calories in a Bikram class. One thing you could do to see the calories reflect your work is to multiply your time by 1.3. For instance if you do a 90 minutes class, enter 117 minutes for the time and the calories will be closer to what you expended. I would also contact Spark People about this because Bikram is a very specific length of time with specified moves and estimating the calories should not be difficult.
I've been doing hot yoga for almost two months now and have not been able to figure out a way to track this correctly. I can obviously use the vinyasa selection, but as far as calories burned, I don't think it even comes close? Most folks can burn up to 600 calories or more in one 60 minute session, not sure I'm am up to that, but the 100-200 I get on here doesn't seem to fit. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or do I send a message to SparkPeople inquiring about adding another exercise?
