"Spotify" has been newly released in North America. My European friends have been enjoying it for some time now. Unlike "Pandora," you can listen to complete albums. They might ask for a small commitment now (monetary) although that is not its history. I haven't tried it yet.
"LastFM" is like "Pandora." If you are using Firefox for a browser, there is a lastfm add-on that sets it up right in your tool bar. There is also an add-on called Adblock that eliminates all those pesky ads on the SP site. What a relief!
There is also "Mixpod" which lets you put together your own playlists. It will save your playlists indefinitely (I think.)
All of these allow you to peruse music for free (Spotify, hmm....)

I just thought of another great source I am listening to right now. Do you know about Pandora? It's a free on line music site. You type in the genre of music and it creates playlist. You indicate if you like the songs and it creates more playlist of similar music. You can also indicate you don't like a song and it's won't add related material.
I found Crown Chakra by Merlin's Magic free and love it for meditation. I set it to repeat on my IPod and since it is just a fraction over 5 minutes, I can listen to it 2, 3 , 4, 5 times depending on how long I want to mediate.
