Hi! I take aerial yoga classes at Ra Yoga ( website is ra-yoga.com). The FLYoga classes are safe and suitable for beginners. (The FLYfit classes are not for beginners!) All classes are capped at nine students, and the instructors are very good at helping each person individually and coming up with modifications when needed.

Hi GENNICO.
I'm in Flagstaff and would love to try aerial yoga some time in the future. What's the studio called? Good, safe--even for beginners--instruction? I've been going to The Yoga Experience for two months and love it. I had also not been exercising before then and could barely complete half an hour of the class! It's fascinating how I can feel the difference from one class to the next. I'm also convinced that the only way I will exercise is if it's something I actually enjoy while I'm doing it. The positive after-effects are icing!
Anyway, when I'm stronger, I'd like to try aerial. I go to the valley every now and then to visit friends, ... It would be so convenient.
Thanks and happy stretching.

I have been taking an aerial yoga class (in Phoenix) once a week since June, and I love it! When I first started, I hadn't done much yoga -- or any physical activity -- for 10 years, so it was very challenging. However, with each class, I can do a little more, and I always feel great afterwards.

Yes, Punchilouie, I do plan to continue with aerial (and non-aerial). You?

I had my first-ever aerial yoga class yesterday (in Indiana).

It was GREAT.

It's critical to note that the class IS NOT intended for persons with high blood pressure or glaucoma. Check with a physician first!

I went back to this old thread I started a long time ago. Since then I have been to Aerial yoga instructor training in Boulder, Colorado. I have attended both level I and level 2. I have been teaching it where I live now since April. I love it, and so do the people who take it. I highly recommend you try it if you get an opportunity.

The silk hammock allows you to stretch so much more deeply than the floor because the silk gives which allows your muscles to relax and go deeper into a stretch.

Strengthening moves like planks are much more intense with the added wobbly of the hammock.

Inversions are much easier because you have the support of the hammock which is so much nicer than using straps..

Savasana (Corpse Pose) in the hammock is amazing!

I've been a yoga instructor and enthusiast for a long time, and recently I have started doing aerial silks. Our studio wants me to check into aerial yoga. I have been researching it, and I think it will be wonderful and something most anyone can do (unlike aerial silks).

I will be attending some classes in a nearby city and then taking the instructor training. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with it. We don't have it in our city, and I think it will be a good addition to our yoga choices.
