A long time ago, back in the days of the dinosaur,... sorry not that far back but if you ask my son he'll tell you that I'm Jurassic... older than dirt... a long time ago, when I was a child, my grandfather used to have all of us kids sit on his knee or around him, and he would tell us how life used to be in Germany, growing up.
He would tell us how every morning, each of the kids had their chores to do before school and how each chore meant that they could survive when the great depression hit. He told us about him walking 10 miles to the plant where he worked and how he would walk to the second job where he made dog food at the old horse barns... he called it the glue factory.
He then went on about the third place ... the auction where for 30 cents he would buy a surprise box for his children and whatever was in the box was an added chore! (Like straightening the bent nails in the box etc... anyway he would continue that there was a certain road that each of them had to travel and if they took a different road chances are they wouldn't remember how to get home and back to the farm! He also added that each road had a certain purpose and that if one road wasn't followed properly the lives of the family could depend on it!
He was right you know... If we don't follow the proper "road" or if we fall away from our intended path, it may be bad for our health!
Your path will be determined when you decide to change your ways and start a new life with a lifestyle change!.You'll need a plan, a road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.
The plan will have the destination at the top of the page, then below it you will have a series of "Mini" goals to help you get to your destination! For example, I want to lose weight in 5 pound intervals of if I have 80 pounds to lose I would have 16 mini goals saying I have 80 pounds to lose, I have 75 pounds to lose, I have 70 pounds to lose etc... Other goals might include when I've lose 20 pounds I want to buy some new clothes!, etc
On a second chart you may want to show your progress... Like: I've lost the 5 pounds and 3 inches off of my middle, 1 inch off my arms etc... and then say something good like: I'm looking great... and I'm feeling better... "Good Job"
In a journal, I would track what I eat and what exercise I do so that when I get back to the computer I can go on Spark People and accurately track my food and exercise...
It's a structured plan to help you stay on the right path to your ultimate goals and your ultimate weight!
If you happen to "go down the wrong path" you will be set back in your original goals and it will take you longer to get to your goals. That is a decision that you make at the time you make it! Will you stick with your chosen lifestyle or will you go off the chosen path and "Treat" yourself... The choice is yours but the consequences could hurt your progress if you go off the chosen path too many times!
Planning your lifestyle change including what kinds of food you'll need to eat and what types of exercise you enjoy makes it so you can do something about unforeseen events now and helps you stay on the road to success!. Find a good system and it will shorten the road to your goal.
How you travel the road to success is directly proportional to how many times you walk away from that road! If you can stay on the road, stick to your plan, work towards your goals that you've set out on, your time on the road will be shorter than if you go sightseeing down the "Wrong path"
Remember... The longer you stay away from your goals and dreams, the longer it will take to get back on track... a 6 moth journey may end up taking 2 or 3 years!
The choice is yours...
This old dinosaur is still on track! Make the right choices... for you!
You won't be sorry!
Always remember... You're Worth It!
