SparkPortland has the opportunity to volunteer at the Oregon Food Bank again next month.
We need 5 to 10 people to work a Saturday morning shift, from 9:00 to 11:30 am.
Saturday, Dec. 22 - 9:00 to 11:30 am
The minimum age for this shift is 16 (sorry, no kids under 16 please)
We have scheduled your group to come to the Portland Food Recovery Center where you will sort and box-up non-perishable food donations for people in need throughout Oregon. This is a fast-paced project and involves standing, lifting, and moving heavy boxes.
If you are unable to lift heavy boxes, that shouldn't stop you as accommodations can be made. I think the only heavy lifting that happened last time was 1derlandbound's husband spreading the rice-love, emptying 100 lb bags of rice into large bins. Otherwise, we all stood at a table and worked as a team to bag rice. There's no way to know what we'll be doing this coming shift.
If you have questions, please feel free to post them here, or send me a SparkMail.
