Bumping this back up again in case we have any other takers. There's nothing that says we HAVE to volunteer at OFB in March.

Awesome gang!

Shift 1 - 1
Wednesday, March 7, 6:00 - 8:30 pm Portland Volunteer Action Center (age: 6+)

Shift 2 - 0
Thursday, March 8, 6:00 to 8:30 pm Beaverton Volunteer Action Center (age 6+)

Shift 3 - 2
Saturday, March 10, 9:00 to 11:00 am, Portland Food Recovery Center (age: 16+)

Shift 4 - 3
Saturday, March 10, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Beaverton Perishable Repack Room (age: 12+)

Annie, the Food Recovery Center is part of the same facility we've worked at previously. It's simply another area of the building.

Perry, glad to have you interested! I haven't worked at the Beaverton facility yet, but when we've worked at the Portland facility, we worked in groups to take bulk foods (pears once, rice the next) and repackage them into smaller, individual-sized packages (5 lbs of pears or 2 lbs of rice). Once we settle on a date/shift, I'll be able to provide more information. If you have specific questions, please let me know and I'll answer as best I can.

1 or 3 works for me
Where's the Portland Food Recovery Center?

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Since we've had such success with this volunteer effort for OFB, I'm going to offer up FOUR different shifts. Let me know which one you would prefer to do, and if we get 5 people willing to work that shift, I will sign the team up for that day/time.

We -must- have 5 people in order to fulfill our team obligation. Once we have one or two shifts selected (we can certainly do more than one if you want) I can submit our application to work at that time. Volunteer slots fill up quickly, so the sooner we know, the better.

Shift 1 -
Wednesday, March 7, 6:00 - 8:30 pm Portland Volunteer Action Center (age: 6+)

Shift 2 -
Thursday, March 8, 6:00 to 8:30 pm Beaverton Volunteer Action Center (age 6+)

Shift 3 -
Saturday, March 10, 9:00 to 11:00 am, Portland Food Recovery Center (age: 16+)

Shift 4 -
Saturday, March 10, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Beaverton Perishable Repack Room (age: 12+)

* The age at the end of each shift indicates the youngest a volunteer can be.

I am available for Shifts 1, 2, and 4. I cannot make Shift 3, sorry. If Shift 3 is the most-popular option, we'll need someone who would be willing to be the Point of Contact for the team.

Yes, we are still hoping to organize a walk of some sort for those who would be interested in interacting in that way. Please give me suggestions for dates, times, and locations.
