I've been going to the Bar Method 3-4 times a week (6 this week) for the last month and a half. It's so worth the cost of classes, it's really kicking my butt. Meghann and Denise are fabulous and really cater to your body when it comes to physical abilities. (I'm not strong enough for some exercises yet so they show me other things I can do to build the strength and still participate in the exercise) Anyone else doing it? portland.barmethod.com/

Columbia Outlet in the Sellwood district always has good deals on workout clothes. I also recommend The Dig in Milwaukie, where clothes are typically between $3 - $5 (and not always used)

On the other hand, the Labor Day Sale at Value Village is just around the corner!

Fav Gym: 24 Hr Fitness. I love it because I use the gym no matter where I am; and it's open at 4 AM, which is when I need to go.

Fav shoe store: DSW Shoes, shoe heaven...oh, maybe you mean fitness shoes. Hehehe. Joe's Sports, Outdoors. They have elite footwear specialists. Helps that DH works there. Woohoo! Discount.

Fav place for workout clothes: Lucy stores or Lucy.com (which is having mega summer clearance online). Love, love, love their socks. Joe's Sidewalk Sale is also another great place to get workout clothes (and shoes) cheap!

My favorite gym is Nelson's Nautilus. I like it better than the larger chains because it is a smaller facility and it's never crowded. They have three locations, one in NE Portland, one in Oregon City, and one in Milwaukie. Also, it's very reasonably priced. I haven't found a club yet that can match or beat the price.

I will buy shoes anywhere that they are on sale.

For workout clothes, I like to go to Ross. They are mix & match, but you get name brand stuff for a very good price.
