I think you'll be sorry if you feed the raccoons. We've had to start trapping them because they steal our cat and dog food and so far we've caught three (which we've relocated to a park). They are very cute but they can give a nasty bite and also may carry rabies.

My neighbors have backyard chickens. Last year they dug up most of my yard but we enjoyed watching them. Then the raccoons got them. So this year they built a chicken coop. So we hear the chickens in the mornings, but we don't see them. What we do see are raccoons. More an more of them cute little beasties. My husband wants to feed them but I'm sure that we shouldn't...

My mom had chickens while I was in high school - 40ish years ago. Your mention brought back pleasant memories.

That's great. I just had to get rid of my young silkie roo because he was very vocal and I didn't want to upset my neighbors. :( He was a great boy and very protective of his girls.

Hi MrsGibber! I've had three hens for about a year and just got a young cockerel and pullet (they're learning the pecking order!). I love my chickens and I just planted some corn and beans in a plot they "tilled" for me!
