Hey Doug, and others....
Thanks for talking about the Candy Onions! I had never heard of them before.
But stopped at our Horticulture Services today and they had them!! Yea!!

So now I need to get out in the next couple of days and get them planted!!

How large do you let them get before you pull them to eat??

We sell candy onions at our greenhouse. And they go like hotcakes. Lol. They do not get real big but they are sure more sweeter than a regular onion!

You can get these at burpee's. According to the Amish there the best onion you can get. Here's the link:

Yes, that is where we get ours. We either order them or for a few short weeks we can get them at our grocery store up here in Kansas.
I tried to grow them once but they did not turn out like the ones we ordered at all.

Sounds like Georgia vidalias. They are good and can literally be eaten like an apple. They are pretty easy to grow.

I have not heard of onions called Candy Onions.
I do know that Vidila onions are like candy! And you can eat them like an apple. I have done it.
But I have not tried to grow them because they say it is the soil that makes an onion sweet or hot. Any onions I have ever grown in Kansas are usually hot.
Vidila's are grown in the south.

Has anyone every grown Candy Onions? Have heard they are very sweet. Have been told you can eat them like an apple. Not real sure about that, but I do like sweet onions.
