Christine-- If you have increased your activity, which I believe you said you have, it can cause a weight gain at first. The body is tricked into thinking it is starving and goes into a mode of preserving fat. I think with your recent illness that is what has caused you not to lose any of those 5 pounds you gained! Allow yourself to heal and then be sure you are eating at the top of your points limit and keep moving! It will come off. It is discouraging, but common. I've been through it a few times and actually had to go above my points limit to lose b/c I was doing so much activity wise. It seems oxymoronic and it is, but sometimes our bodies need more calories to lose more weight! Feel better soon!

When diabetics have an infection there really is nothing to do but address that medical problem. It is not a weight loss period if no other reason than body perceives starvation and holds on to fat and any calories to protect itself. This will pass soon.
Forget about the scale for a bit. Let how your clothes fit be your guide. Muscle weighs more than fat anyway.

I have a challenge going on with my weight loss. Two weeks ago I gained 5 pounds. For my weigh ins both last Thursday and last night, I have remained the same.
I have had a throat infection since Sunday and on Tuesday, I saw the Phyician's Assistant and she put me on an antibiotic to wipe out this throat infection. Well, where I have only been able to eat mostly soup and liquids for the past few days, I was hoping to at least see a modest loss. Well, I stayed still.
Has anyone else ever had a situation like this, ans what did you do to start going down the scale again? I'm eager to get rid of the sore throat as I will be able to going back to eating more solid food and can start losing again.
