Well, it certainly must be comfy! Hope you get to sit in it soon!

I'm proud today b/c I rested. I worked this morning early and came home, took a nap, then rested all day! Good for me! I don't just relax very often!

I did get my new chair but I haven't had a chance to even sit in it yet. My friend put her behind in it first and then my housekeeper decided to try it out on her break and immediately fell asleep and then dh tried it out while I put away the groceries he had brought home. In less than 10 minutes, he was out like a light. Now he is sorry he didn't get one too but it was the last day of the sale so tough on him.

I recently painted my bedroom and changed the curtains and bedspread. I haven't been able to paint since my heart attack in 2008. I was glad to be able to do it without angina or being extra tired. This weekend my youngest grandkids are here for a visit while their mother is away with the "girls." Lord love 'em! They're a handful!

After spending the last several days wallowing in self pity for all the things I CANNOT do anymore I am proud that I am now focused on finding and doing the things I CAN accomplish. Admittedly they are few in number but its important for me to remember that God never closes a door that He doesn't open a window. I'm taking my opportunities where I find them.

Happy Labor Day everyone~! Watch the carbs.

Awesome! I had a urinary Tract Infection 2 weeks ago myself! I didn't retain fluid, but it was not pleasant! It is really hot and humid here too! We've matched and broken a few record highs the past 2 days. It is supposed to cool off a bit tomorrow and Sat. I hope so! Poor Jack! He's been drinking ice water too!

Last week was a bad week. Our U.S. Senator, Robert C. Byrd, passed away and we had a week of memorial ceremonies and activities commemorating his life. He really worked hard to represent us well, and we will never see another person like him again.

I had a kidney infection (my feet and ankles were swollen) and I had gained 5 pounds due to the water retention.

I went in to Weight Watchers this evening, and I lost 9 pounds between last Friday morning and this evening. I was on antibiotics all week, and I drank ice water all week due to the high heat and humidity.
How sweet!!

I have had a stressful weekend and week. On Friday (June 11th), I came home and my front door was open. My trailer had been broken into. Buddy was hiding in my bedroom (under the bed) and at first he was reluctant to come out. My neighbor came over and went in and made sure nobody was in the trailer before I went in. He called the County Sheriff's department and a deputy came out and checked everything and dusted for fingerprints. I got a copy of the report. The only thing that was taken was my last bank statement that was laying on my desk and that had both my checking account number and my social security number.

I was able to get my credit frozen at the three credit bureaus so nobody could take out any loans in my name.

On Monday, I spent half of my day going to the bank and they closed my checking account and opened a new account for me. Now, I have no debit card and no checks. I have ten temporary checks, but you can only use them with my bank, no store in my area will accept them. I really feel naked without a debit card as I use that more than I write checks. So, I can't pay my electric or water bills until I get my new checks and that won't come until sometime next week (maybe next Thursday--10 days). Then I went to the credit union where my car is financed and the insurance agent so I can get my car insurance taking out my payment out of the right checking account number. For me being the victim, I'm having to do a lot of work to protect myself for any future problems. I also went to my Human Resources Department at work to get my checking account number updated so my paycheck will go into the right account (can't imagine why I would need to do that).

So, I feel like I have regained control over my life, but boy did it take a lot of running to do it.

Christine-- That is great! 2/3 of the walk is fantastic! It is great you were able to lose weight during such a stressful time too!

I feel good today b/c I finally went back to my strength training class today and did a long pool workout and a 1.25 mile walk too. I'm feeling a little sore, but in a good way!

This past week has been hard for me. We buried a good friend last Saturday and we are preparing to interview a new person to be in the same position. It has been hard on all of us, and my friend who is the President of our Council has had to empty Ed's office.

In spite of our emotional roller-coaster this week, I lost 2 pounds. Hopefully, things will start to get easier to handle. Oh, for the 5K walk on Sunday (June 6th), in my local area, we raised about $2,200. I was able to walk about 2/3 of the way.

This weekend I have been busy packing up my car with old stuff and taking it to our "upper valley clean-up". Both the State Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the County Landfill Department sponser a clean-up (like old bikes, old computers) for stuff you can't put in the weekly garbage pick-up for the landfill. So, I have been clearing out stuff that doesn't work anymore (like my old fan) and my old computer and some other stuff and took it over to the clean-up site. They unload it for you and you don't have to pay for it to be taken away. So I got exercise loading up my car (weight lifting)and got some "spring cleaning" tackled at the same time.

Christine-- Of course the new WW bars have sugar, but I allow for treats like that in my carb count. I think using the vanilla smoothies and adding your choices of fruit is the wisest way to go. Like you said, variety is a good thing! I may pick up a box of Chocolate Cheerios this weekend too when I am shopping. I think they would be good dry as a snack.....

We'll all have to get some and compare notes here!

Melissa,
They have a new smoothie mix out, it's Blueberry Pomegranate. Haven't tried it yet, but another girl in my class did and she said it was good.

I usually don't get the flavored mixes, I get the French Vanilla then I can add any fruit to it and have a shake. Last week I had a banana smoothie on Sunday and a peach smoothie on Tuesday. Variety is nice!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My Weight Watchers group leader was doing a demonstration last night about measuring and she was using a box of the Chocolate Cheerios. I told her I avoided them because I thought the sugar level would be too high, she said that the flavor is there, but not much more sugar. She knows I'm a diabetic and got upset with me when I had the frosted shredded wheat because it had sugar and she steered me to the regular big biscuits of shredded wheat. So, I don't think they will be a problem as Millie won't steer me toward anything that has sugar in it.

I'm thinking about picking up a box tomorrow when I go to Kroger's.

I learned I have to look at my weight from month to month rather from week to week! I gain, I lose, I gain, I lose....

I haven't tried the chocolate cheerios yet, but did try one of those new WW pretzel bars and it was really good! 1 point bar and to me tasted like one of those Little Debbie Nutty Buddies.

I fit in the smaller slacks and a blouse I had not been able to wear for a while. Both fit well. But when I got weighed in this evening, it showed a 2 pound gain. I think I lost in inches this week rather than weight. emoticon

I'm sticking to my program, should see better numbers next Thursday. emoticon My morning blood sugars have been in the 115 - 119 range the past 2 mornings.

Hey, have you tried the new Chocolate Cheerios? 3/4 cup is equal to 2 points. You have the chocolate flavor, but no added sugar. And cheerios are a whole grain cereal.

Well, I lost 3 pounds this week for a total of 13 pounds on Weight Watchers. I have been wearing a pedometer for the past week and I walked 8.1 miles (20670 steps). Ever since I started taking the Neurontin, I have been moving better. There was a woman in my class this evening that has lost 203 pounds over a 20-month period, and you would never imagine she weighed as much as she did. Her "before" picture looks like an entirely different person. emoticon

That is an excellent idea. I think if there were even just a hint of some good flavor in the water, it would help a lot.

All we would need is a small one. I'll check tomorrow when I'm out!

Derla-- I started drinking my water by using the Crystal Light or off brand packets to flavor it. I would drink only flavored water at first, then every other was flavored until now I prefer plain water!

I don't know about the Wal-Marts in your area, but they have been having a sale with the small rotisseries (like for apartments or RV's) at the Wal-Mart in my area. You won't be able to do a large turkey, but if it is for just you and your husband, this might be a good deal for you. You could put on your roast veggies. Yum!

I have a showtime rotisserie (you know the Ron Popiel commercials?) and the chicken comes out just perfect. It also comes with a basket where you can do pork chops, hamburgers and fish. If you really want to be inventive, you can put a bunch of veggies in the basket and have roasted veggies. You can also do prime rib (I can't afford that) or a rack of lamb. Baby back ribs can be done with the right attachment, but I will have to order it. At any rate, you can do a lot of cooking where the fat drips off and the food is lower in cholesterol because of it. And the kitchen smells wonderful as well....ummmmmmmmh.

I hope your doctor gives your you credit for that 20 pound loss! That is just great! Have you tried any of the Leslie Samsone walk DVDs? I love 'em! We are not getting snow, but it is cold with very high winds! The wind speed was higher than the temps today! That dinner sounds wonderful! I've been in the mood for a rotissery chicken or a baked chicken. Will have to do that tomorrow!

Don't worry about your A1C! I had several day above 500 with my pump problem on the cruise and mine actually went down a tenth of a point! I couldn't believe it! I was so sick!

Thanks, Melissa.
I wanted to hit my 10% before my next appointment, but realistically, I could not drop 20 pounds before my next appointment on April 3rd. So, I've planned to keep doing what I'm doing and praying that I can lose 10 pounds by then. I'll be 20 pounds lighter from my last appointment, that's a good start.

With my allergy reaction last week, my A1c's will not be down much. While I was taking the medrol dosepak to counter my allergic reaction, my blood sugars jumped up over 300 for 2 days. They are back down to my normal numbers (in the 140's when I get up in the morning).

I made some rotisserie chicken this evening with sliced potatoes and green beans. Also had my cup of skim milk and a cup of sliced peaches (in pear juice) for dessert. emoticon

It's snowing again so I don't know if I'll be able to get up to the YMCA and work on the treadmill. If I can't, I'll just pull out my Biggest Loser Bootcamp video and do that instead. emoticon

Congrats on your 2.2 pound loss. Have a great day!

Derla-- I never thought I was thirsty either, but when I started drinking 8 cups a day I found my body really did need it! I carry water with me now every where I go!

I just had my monthly phone call from the Diabetic management person from our clinic. She touches base with me every month, answers my questions, and sends me information. And always makes sure we set some goals - which I'm not used to doing. This month our goal is to be to drink at least a glass of water with each meal(I've never been one to drink water - just don't get thirsty). Gotta protect those kidneys.

I'm sure any increase in activity will boost your weight loss. But, make sure you try to eat all of your points when you increase the activity! I gained when I first started with alot more activity and had to use up all my points including my weekly allowance! So, just be aware of you may not lose right of way or you might even gain a little at first. This is just our body's way of trying to protect us from starving to death.... As if.... I really went over points today! I used more than 2 days worth of points in 1 day and wiped my weekly allowance totally out and a chunk of my activity points too! This after losing 2 of the 3 pounds I gained too!

But, I also had a MD appointment today and my A1C was 7.2 which is down 1/10 from last time. I was surprised b/c on my cruise I had some really high highs due to my friends messing my pump up and not being able to put it in! All my numbers were good, so it was a good report.

A cruise is the best vacation ever! It is all inclusive and you get to visit great places. The nice thing now is that they offer healthy selections on their menus and even give some calorie info for the low cal choices. You pay for the cruise which includes your cabin, your food 24 hours a day if you wanted it and all kinds of great entertainment from Vegas like shows to comedians and more. You only pay for beverages and you can get a soda card to get sodas and maybe water at 1 price. You can get glasses of water from any of the bars though for free. You do alot of walking and they have fully equipped gyms and a walking track on most ships. I would love to go to Alaska too some time. OUr neighbors want to do a cruise soon, so we'll be looking at different ones. It is truly the most you can get for your money!

Well I did it. I broke down and bought a DVD with the Biggest Loser BootCamp. I thought I could try to keep up with the exercises as much as I could to try to boost my metabolism and drop my weight a little faster by just adding some exercise to my routine. I'm not going to overdo it or anything, but I thought I would try to increase my activity a little. I'm close in getting down into some new numbers and I thought the activity might help me get there a little sooner than just staying with my eating plan.

Actually I got 3 DVD's by the Biggest Loser Show (they were on sale at Wal-Mart), the first one is the 30-Day JumpStart (with Trainer Bob). It says you can lose up to 3 inches off the waist over a 30-day period. Then, there is the BootCamp (with Trainer Bob) which is a six week program with 3 levels of intensity. Lastly, I also got the Last Chance Workout (with Jillian Michaels). This one indicates you can lose 30 pounds in six weeks.

Since I am way out of shape, I will start out with the number of repetitions I can do along with the video and work up to the number of repetitions everyone in the video is doing. Anything more is asking for problems. But, you have to start somewhere. emoticon

I can use different DVD's on different days and keep the activity different where I won't get into a rut. Maybe by staying with the Weight Watcher plan and my exercise, I'll see some good results!! emoticon

I noticed when I was reading posts earlier your ticker said down 8 pounds and just now it was 11, so good for you! I've been weighing every day and am down 2/10 of a pound. I hope I can at least lose 1 whole pound by Monday! But, I'm running out of points already! Bad lunch choices the past 2 days! Oh well!

Wow! How nice to log in and read such good news from y'all!

Diane-- That is great news! We diabetics tend to run low on our HDL, so any improvement is great! 13 pounds and such a nice drop in your A1C! Awesome! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing the good news with all of us!

Christine-- Yay! Isn't it great to fit into soem too small clothes? Jeans for me are always my favorite when I can fit into them after not being able to! I had a pair that was too small and when I tried them on again, they were too big! I got rid of them b/c I didnt' want to fit into them now! Good for you!

Hi first of all I apologize that I have not posted anything in quite a long while. But I have actually been doing quite well. I just had a doctor's appointment last Tuesday and both the doc and I were quite pleased with the results. My A1C dropped from 7.5% to 6.6%! My cholesterol is under 200! My HDL is still too low but has come up some. My LDL is right at 100. My triglycerides which I have the most trouble with has gone from 280 down to 202! AND I lost 13 pounds since my last visit. Congrats on all the good news being shared here. We can do this TOGETHER!

On Wednesday, for the "skeleton staff" that had to work, my boss ordered pizza for everyone in the office. So, I had one slice of the pepperoni pizza emoticon and had the side salad with the fat-free french dressing (I had packed with my sandwich) and a cup of coffee.

On Christmas Eve, I went in for my weigh in at WW and lost 6 1/2 pounds this past week, and that is even with people bringing in sweets (chocolate baklava from the local Greek Orthodox church). I have been taking in my packed lunches emoticon so I could control what I was eating and keep track of my points eaten. emoticon

Yesterday, I kept with my eating plan and got in all my points. I ate more fruit than usual, but it also helped me from eating junk over at my sister's.
So, even if it's a holiday period, you can stick with your plan and make healthy decisions. emoticon

I have a tendency to never stick up for myself no matter who or what is being said that hurts me. But today, I broke that streak. A group of teenage boys were
standing around at the mall and one of them actually walked up to me and said, "Lady, you are really fat!" And I looked at him and said, "I may be fat but I can lose it. You are ugly and that goes to the bone!" I shocked myself so much that even I started to laugh as did all his friends. Everyone was laughing but the boy.

hi to team members, I went outside in 97 degree weather, fought with my garden hose, and watered my few vegetables I have left. that took short amount of time. what I would like to do is swim in my big pool all day. but I am still recovering from leg surgery. and have a wound vac on, if anyone knows what that is like. emoticon
