Yes! I stand up for what I believe in.
I have stood up and been the voice for reform in disability changes in my community.... Asking for changes on sidewalks, public transportation, etc. and other things that would aid people with disabilities. I have called my insurance company and expressed a challenge to charges that I knew were not mine, but insurance paid for.... They actually acted mad with me b/c I called! I always ask for special requests in restaurants. I ask for all condiments to be on the side, I aske if something can be broiled instead of fried, or something left off, whatever. I am pretty vocal about my needs.

If I think something needs to be said then I will say it.
Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
I do ask the water/waitress to put my salad dressing on the side, because they put too much dressing ion my salad. Sometimes I also ask for other toppings to be put on the side, but I have never taken a stand on things like insurance, though. They will bring me a bigger little cup and I am glad that I asked for it on the side if that is how much they put on it.
Last night I spoke in a public forum to our State Public Employee Insurance Finance Board on changes that were being proposed to our insurance coverage. I represented our union members and how the changes would affect them. Basically the changes mean more money out of our pocket. So my question is: Have you ever taken a stand and spoken up regarding changes to your insurance coverage, not necessarily by speaking in public, but by sending a letter voicing your opposition and stating reasons for that opposition?
This goes along with have you ever told a waiter that you need your food grilled instead of fried or asking that your margarine/sour cream be served on the side instead of on your baked potato? Do you stand up, speak out and let your needs be known?
