We had to wash the dishes and gget the kitchen cleaned up before we were allowed to go out and play, even in the long summer evenings. The other kids stopped comming around and asking us to go play with them so we took even longer to complete our task and would use the serving spoons as "mikes" and put on concerts. By the time we finally got around to finishing, it was bedtime....

Vicki-- They didn't know alot back then! The funny thing is that it didn't really bother me b/c that was all I knew.... It started to bother me once my brother and sister came along and were allowed to eat more than just 1 piece of their candy!! But, still that was all I knew.

Ironically, we now know that a reasonable amount of candy isn't harmful. But shame on your Dad! That was awful....eating your candy.

I was away at school from the time I was 5 until I was a senior in high school. My rule was to write home every week. Believe me, it was quite a chore. I got one letter per week from home too.

What is a strange rule your parents had for you that no other kids had to follow?

Well, since I was 4 when I was diagnosed as diabetic I had alot of rules.... Had to have my shot every morning, couldn't eat sweets, had to eat even if not hungry.... But, the worse was they allowed me to go trick or treating, but I was only allowed 1 piece of candy from my bag and then my dad would eat the rest!
