My favorite meal is breakfast, because my husband always cooks it. He makes omelets with just one whole egg and two egg whites. He adds fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and sometimes a little onion and grated cheese. Other mornings he makes stuffed french toast using two pieces of raisin bread spread with low fat cream cheese, dried cranberries and almonds . he dips them in egg and milk and bakes them in the oven. A third favorite is crepes with strawberries.

Peggy, God Bless you and DH. What an inspriation you are to our group. I will be 83 in August. Have ankle problems so can't walk much, but can ride my recumbant bike. My Sr. Center has Yoga for Seniors, I should try it. Keep up the good work.

Please share some of your meals with us. I love seeing what other people eat. So nice your DH likes to cook. My late husband didn't. I cook and freeze individual dishes for just me.

I'm very blessed with my father's genes. He lived to 98 and played tournament tennis clear into his 90's. I don't play tennis, but I Jazzercise 3 days a week and do yoga each weekday a.m.
I'm also blessed with a husband who is very health-conscious and likes to cook, so we have good low-calorie,lowfat and low sugar meals and do lots of walking together. We've been married 64 years and I pray we'll be together for many more.

Oh thank you, Marsha. We have both parsley and cilantro growing in pot on railing on deck right now. I will make the parsleyHeb tea. I use my cilantro iny Mexican dishes. Have some in my homemade Pico de Gallo now. Very tasty.
Oh happy to report DH fever broke in night. Back to near normal temp. He was wringing wet!
He now has his meds to take. Not Amoxicillin. Like I thought." Cefdinir" I never heard of it-have you?

I saw this and thought it worth sharing. I am going to be some parsley. I think you can buy parsley tea in Health Food store.

CLEAN YOUR KIDNEYS

Years pass by and our kidneys are filtering the blood by removing salt, poison and any unwanted entering our body. With time, the salt accumulates and this needs to undergo cleaning treatments and how are we going to overcome this?

It is very easy, first take a bunch of parsley or Cilantro ( Coriander Leaves ) and wash it clean.

Then cut it in small pieces and put it in a pot and pour clean water and boil it for ten minutes and let it cool down and then filter it and pour in a clean bottle and keep it inside refrigerator to cool.

Drink one glass daily and you will notice all salt and other accumulated poison coming out of your kidney by urination also you will be able to notice the difference which you never felt before.

Parsley and cilantro (coriander) are known as best cleaning treatment for kidneys and it is natural!

Both have similar impact but Parsley is preferred choice. Difference between Parsely and Cilandro. Parsely doesn't have the smell whereas cilandro (Dhaniya Leaves) Smell. Parsely is used in Salads. Both leaves look similar to each other but by close observation, you can notice both are different.

Most definitely agree with you dear Pat. It's the quality of life more than the quantity that matters. If The Lord has blessed us with a long life it is our duty to ensure that we live every moment and make it worth while

I would give it to my genes. All my siblings have lived past 80 except 1 who died at 68.
My mom died at 95 20 years ago, my dad at 91 30 years ago.
They all died peacefully at home. In fact my mom even supervised her kitchen from her wheelchair the day she died. Healthy organic food & a loving family around. No assisted living, no hospices

i do have an aunt who lived to be 103 and i remember she ate like a bird, and
her mind was sharp as a tack to the end. SHE REFUSED TO GO TO A CARE CENTER- SAID IT WAS A WAIST OF MONEY! KEPT VERY CLOSE TRACK OF HER SAVINGS.
She even remembered all of our 8 childrens name and ask about each one.
when she could no longer see well she allowed family to hire a caretaker to live with her . WAS ABLE TO LIVE IN HER OWN HOME TO THE END!

Hi Paula - I guess I didn't realize you have diabetes you may already know this but. If you haven't discovered it already
I invite you to join the Eat To Live team which like me is now following the teachings of Dr. Fuhrman. He has many testimonials of diabetics reversing their disease. Please take a look anyway.
Hugs,pat

I forgot about my previous post. When I saw the question, I thought...by the Grace of God. And, being free of diabetes is still my number 1 priority. Today, my DH and I started a walking STREAK. emoticon Our goal is to walk every day until March 22nd, weather permitting. If the weather does not co-operate we will march in place in the house for a half hour.

Hi GoodHappens you reminded me of my Mom, she often told us to "Count Our Blessings" If we were grumbling about something or just fussing. Perhaps, we had not gotten what we wanted. And, then after we Counted Our Blessings we found we felt better and things we not so bad. Great way to start our day.

It must be God's will that I am still here. Both of my parents died at very young ages (40s) I need to focus and loose weight to put my diabetes to rest. That is my current goal.

I understand that Dr. OZ, whose opinion I respect, says tea and coffee and other beverages do not count as part of your daily water intake. In fact- they are dehydrators and you need to drink even more water to counteract them! So he believes as SPARK does that water is most important for our health.
You are fortunate that your health is good and I too believe that exercising helps keep our depression at bay! Good luck with your goals, Susan, Pat

I honestly couldn't tell you. Knock on wood, I have been relatively healthy in my life. I tend to be a depressive person but lately seem to have a more positive outlook and I don't know where that comes from; it's an inner thing. I've always heard that exercising and keeping fit is the thing to do and I'm beginning to believe it. All the news about brain and alzheimers, etc, stress that it is important to keep fit in body and mind. So I'm pure lucky I haven't had any catastophic disease yet and hope to keep it that way thru the next few years. I still work full time, having retired from one job 13 years ago and work at entirely different job for the last 13 years. Maybe that has helped.

Can other drinks such as diet sodas and herbal tea count towards my 8 glasses of water for the day?

The latest recommendations from the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Science, Dietary Reference Intake for Electrolytes and Water say:

"The fluids consumed do not have to be only water. Individuals can obtain their fluids from a variety of beverages and foods. Contrary to popular opinion, consumers do not need to consume 'eight glasses of water a day' to meet their fluid needs."

However my own personal opinion, particularly for people trying to lose weight, is to encourage additional water intake whenever possible. I feel it helps to cleanse the body when weight loss and fat breakdown is occurring. I also know that it helps to keep the hands and mouth busy, so snacking is less. This is a form of behavior modification. I personally know that many people feel better when at least 4-6 glasses of plain old H2O is consumed to help meet total fluid needs.
