My personal goals in water aerobics vary from class to class. In Aqua Zumba, Water Walking, Shallow Water Aerobics, and Combo Class I have been working on my posture, core being engaged, and my movements to have muscles engaged. In Deep Water Aerobics, the same as Aqua Zumba but to also work on noodle work, balance, and to move faster in the water.

As a result from these goals I have been working on is to also lose weight and gain muscle. I have noticed already that it's working on my core. Under this big layer of fat on my mid section I feel rock hard abs.

As for lately, I have been injured at work and my main goal is to get back to my regular exercise routine. This next week will involve the less intense classes for smaller movements and for them not to hurt my back.

I enjoy going to classes. Since I'm advised not to do anything this week, and very little next week.

My week looks like this.

Monday - Water Walking (but on the deeper end for less impact)
Tuesday - Balance and Stability
Wednesday - Water Walking (deeper end)
Thursday - Balance and Stability
Friday - Water Walking (deeper end)
Saturday - Deep Water Aerobics (taking it easy)

I don't think your goal to weigh less than your husband is silly. My husband and I have been dieting together for the last 10 weeks - he lost 50 lbs. to my 26, the show-off. As his numbers climbed I've worried he's going to weigh less than me. Right now he's still about 55 lbs. more than I but is creeping closer.

I don't think its silly. You go girl. My goal weight is 150 but I like yours better. My husband is 6 ' 3" and he manage to keep his weight between 153 to 185. If he gets above that he cuts back to get back down. Let's keep sparking. emoticon Linda from Winona TX emoticon

My new goal as of April 2013 to lose at least 10 lbs every 2 months. Jan. 1st I weighed 274 and at the end of March I weighed the same 274 so I went to the dr. for help and April through May I lost 10 lbs so I made that my goal because the dr was very please with the 10 lb lost. I will be going back to the dr. again at the end of July so hopefully I have lost another 10 lbs. emoticon Linda from Winona TX

My new goal may sound somewhat silly, but it is to weigh less than my husband. He is 6'5" and weighs 238 lbs. I started at 333 and am down to 265. 28 more lbs to go and I will be 1 pound less than him. :) I know, it does sound kinda silly *shrug*

After a long time missing water exercise (on-line classes, change in schedule, and good old laziness ) I am back and determined to add water exercise to my life again. I am going to participate in the Ididasplash again this year; it really helped me to create the habit of getting in the water a few times a week. ( Fundraiser for Nome, AK swim team. Within the first three months, do as many minutes as there were miles on that famous dogsled run to deliver vaccine. You can do it by yourself, on your time, where you are.)
I managed a few classes in December; I had forgotten how good it made me feel and how much I enjoyed it. I do some classes and some independent exercise; it gives me a good balance.

Kalioppe, arm chewy be gone is a mantra of mine. I have noticed a big difference in my arms since I started exercising in August. It probably isn't all the water activities, but it is probably a little bit of everything I am doing. Including the swimming. :)

Congrats on being able to pull yourself out of the pool! That's one of my water goals as well. From doing aqua 3x a week, i'm improving my flabby arms and that's a huge goal.

I actually reached a goal today. It might not seem like a big deal to lots of people but, to me it was pretty awesome. I was able to pull myself up with my arms/shoulders on the side of the pool in aqua aerobics today. I was never able to do that and had to do a modification with crossing my arms and only pushing up with my crossed arms and elbow and today for the first time I was able to push ALL the way with my arms STRAIGHT. That must mean my shoulders and arms are getting stronger. That makes me so happy.

I really love the different classes that my gym offers. We have both Aqua Zumba and Aqua Aerobics. The Zumba is kind of relaxing, but toning and the Aerobics teacher really gives those arms a work out. Pretty crazy.

My husband and I this week joined an health club that has both indoor and outdoor pools. Both the indoor and outdoor pools have Lap and Leisure Pools. The Leisure Pools are great for Water Aerobics. I guess if the Lap Pools did not have a lot of people I could do water jogging in them. However, for now I prefer the Leisure ones. Thursday I used the Indoor Leisure pool for water jogging and water aerobics (dancing). Today I used the outside one for pool walking, water jogging and water aerobics. I did watch a Water Zumba class which I probably will join next week. However, I like working alone also. Today I actually did 105 minutes of water jogging, pool walking and water dancing. Thursday I did 60 minutes.

My goal is to do water aerobics or swimming every day. I want to lose weight but I am also doing it for flexibility, mobility, and strength. I told the people at the Health Club right away that I wanted to join to use their pools and nothing else. I love working out in the water!

Been doing water aerobics class for 2 months. Was tired of riding stationary bike and it's been too hot to bike or walk outside. Found I really like working out in the pool. Enjoy the aerobic class but work much harder and longer when workout on my own.

I've been doing water aerobics for about 2 years - since I joined the Y. I was going 2 times a week - one time deep water and the other shallow water. Then this term I tried Pi-Yo-Chi (pilates, yoga and TaiChi) which is in the really warm teaching pool and it has so helped with my balance and core strength. I mainly doing it for functional exercising and I absolutely love it!

I never really gave the pool much though, because I never really thought it would give a good workout. Then, my rheumy (for lupus) told me to try it, and to stop walking/running/jogging, it was too hard on my knees.
Tried it, and loved it! So, I guess all of the reasons!!
I've never taken a class, I'm too embarrassed at my weight. Well, not so much my weight, but my proportions, which are all out of whack. I'm not just chunky, most of my weight is in my stomach and chest, and I look like a crazy pregnant person.
Currently, I wear a t-shirt over a too small bikini, because a. I cannot afford a new suit and b. I cannot bring myself to grab a size large enough to fit me. It's just too depressing. Once I get more comfortable, and get a new suit, I will definitely try a class! Though, I've been saying that for about a year now...*sigh*

I guess I would have to say for me it is all of the above reasons. We take a water aerobics class and do water walking/jogging in a current channel and we use an indoor pool at the YMCA. We average about 285 minutes in the pool each week. My goal will put me at 360 minutes a week in the water.

What are some of your personal goals doing water aerobics? losing weight? flexibility? mobility? strength? interest?

When I was younger I liked swimming and I think the aerobics is great for overall health and the added bonus of taken pressure of the joints is good. I needed something I would stick with and lose weight.

Do you prefer a class
Swimming
Exercising alone
Inside pool or outside?
