hmm I think I'm probably joining this late (only 8 weeks left of school... wow time flies)
But hey a goal to loose 8 pounds can't be bad.
My mini goals will be
1)track everything I eat,
2)wait 3 hours between each meal and
3)only eat at a "designated eating spot" (at home that would be dining room table and at school that would be my eating spot in J building)
That way when i'm thinking say "its just one jube jube" or "just one cracker" I'll think about how if I eat that one cracker I have to put it on a plate and go eat it at the dinning room table and then do the math to track the calories-its too much effort for one little cracker.

Hey Bycosta, it's good that you recognised the unhealthy habits that were forming and put them in check. Hopefully those 3 pounds will come off, even if they don't come off as fast as you wanted them too.
I think I need to rejoin this challenge. I have completely lost steam, I changed my spark stage so I don't have to track my foods eaten daily and I've been working out 4 - 5 days a week and I keep gaining a pound, losing a pound, gaining a pound, losing a pound!! I only have 8 more pounds to go until I get to my goal, I'd like to get to where I was in March and start losing 2 lbs/week! I'm going to start tracking my calories daily again and see if that helps. I didn't think I changed my eating habits that much when I stopped tracking, but I must have.

So I haven’t posted on this thread in a couple of weeks now because I decided to take a break from this challenge. I got the feeling that I was beginning to create really unhealthy eating habits. I would tell myself things like, “you don’t need to eat breakfast, loosing weight is more important.”
I was also dealing with a lot (and I mean, A LOT) of negative self talk and that was making things extremely difficult. I was heading in the direction of having a full-blown eating disorder. So I am working every day on stopping the negative self-talk and I went off of my ‘diet’ (I hate diets!) and back to my healthy lifestyle. I guess it just took me to realize that my happiness is more important than 3 pounds I still have to loose. I don’t think that I am going to be able to finish this challenge in time. My semester ends in three weeks and I have 3 more pounds to loose, if I loose them that’s great but I am not going to stress about it (or even think about it).

Sorry that this is so long…

Girl, you can do this! It's tough with a hard schedule, but YOU CAN FIT IN WORKOUTS. Try buying Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. It really helped me in my shape-up journey and I still use it AND it is just 25 minutes long. If you eliminate a silly TV show, then you can sooo do it!

Eating is a major issue, so I am sure that if you are changing your eating habits then YOU WILL see a difference! Use that nutrition tracker!

Don't worry about the number on the scale. You've gotta start somewhere.

I'm kind of frustrated. I'm trying to see how I've done so far ( okay, its only been a week but in that week I've just about made my goals every day or if I went over it wasn't by too much. ) So I got myself a scale from Bed Bath and Beyond. It's pretty nice and once I got on the scale today, It states I'm 186.6. Now this confuses the hell out of me because that's not a couple of pounds off from the Dr's that's a LOT. I weighed 207 at the dr's. Of course I went to the Dr's back in march, but I honestly don't feel like that's accurate.

My boyfriend, who I love to pieces has been keeping me motivated in my goals, and he weighed himself on my scale and said that he weighed himself not that long ago and it was accurate to that weight.

I don't know what I should do...

I give you all credit! I wish i had the time to workout, but right now with as much as I have to get done, I can really only manage dealing with changing my eating habits. I have been making an effort to at least go walking once on my weekends though.

I can't wait to have more time again so I can start working otu!

I'm convinced that exercising more, especially in the morning, increases your metabolism. I have no idea if it's actually true but I have definitely lost more weight by working out in the morning and eating about the same during the day. 3 more weeks till finals/beach week!

a lesson in metabolism: somehow I ate double my max calories all weekend, and came home a pound lighter (with no working out). Not that I think it's a brilliant weight-loss plan, but there must be some truth in that whole switch-up-your-daily-calories thing. so good news, i'm more than on track with my 1-2 lbs a week!

eek, going home to grandma for the weekend is always a killer! i doubled (!!) my caloric range one of the days!! so i'm guessing i'm no longer on track for the 1-2 lbs lost (if i haven't gained, i'll be ecstatic!). Back to the gym tomorrow...

BAH! I gained a pound during finals week. *sigh* I guess that's what happens when you only work out 3 out of 5 days, cut your workout times in half and then eat at the upper end of your caloric range. This week I am getting back on track. I don't think I can lose 5 lbs by the 1st, which is my original goal, but I want to lose 10 lbs by June 1st, so I'm going to re-set my goals.
I hope everyone has more success with their weight over finals than I did!! thankfully I passed all my classes, the scary class I was worrying about failing I ended up blowing away the final, I must have gotten almost 100% on it, my final mark was up over 10% from what I had going into the final :)

WELL!! I wrote my last final today! I subscribed to sparkpeople over a year ago and have just started using it again. I have been working out a ton in the past month and have lost almost 8 pounds. I really want to lose 8 more pounds by beach week which is right after finals so i need to stay motivated because i'm clearly running out of time! Hey everyone! This was already a goal I had for myself, and I'm in week 2 of my challenge. I've got 8 weeks to go till finals- hopefully I'll stay on track! I've only lost one pound in the first two weeks though. And I've been doing about 40 minutes of pretty intense cardio a day... kind of bummed about the slow progress... if anyone has any tips, please let me know!

Hey Everyone! Well finals start for me tomorrow (Happy Easter! :( ) I joined this challenge on Feb 8 and in the 9 weeks since then I've lost 12 lbs (1 1/3 lb/wk), 2 inches off my waist and 1.5 inch off my hips! I'm also 1 pound away from my goal of buying a bikini when I reached the "healthy" status for BMI! My bikini shopping date is set for the 21, hopefully I can lose 1 more pound by then :)

Hey all-
So I'm joining this group uber-late (3 weeks until finals, ahh!), but I'm still hoping to lose some more weight before the school year ends and I head home for the summer.
SW: 155 (two weeks ago)

I started working out and eating healthier at the beginning of this semester. So far, I've noticed a lot of improvements, about 10 lbs lost! It feels great to see old friends and hear them tell you that you've lost weight! Definitely a motivator.
So, I started losing weight to be healthier and to look better in my clothes. However, my incentive to doing this was a guy back home- a complicated situation, but I wanted to just feel comfortable with my weight if something progressed with him. Sad to say, he has a new girlfriend.. ugh. But I plan to just keep working out, look sexy, and make him jealous!!

Hi Katy,
I'd like to provide some input on this!
The whole exercise and eating right thing hs been absolutely critical for me, too. I track my calories each day... everything that crosses my lips (you can check it out on my page). Some days, like today, I go a bit over, but that is usually related to my activity levels.
My favorite forms of exercise: I try to do something 6 days/week
Jillian Michaels 30 day shred dvd (circuit training format... it is so amazing)
Running
Spinning class (2 days/week)
I try to get 7 hours of sleep every night, too.
Lots of water, tea. NO SODA, DIET OR WHATEVER. No one needs that junk or chemicals in their bodies.
Journaling and blogging on SparkPeople. Get your mind right.
Set mini-goals.
Listening to Jillian Michaels on kfi640.com (see on-demand) every week. Her segment is fantastic.
YOU CAN DO THIS!

Hey Katy,
My biggest success is such a cliche... it's eating right and exercising! Actually the biggest change was when I started exercising every day for at least 15 minutes. I have some videos that I do every morning as soon as I get up and the weight really started coming off. I also keep within my caloric limit, on most days :)
I think the exercise not only helped with losing pounds but I've seen a huge difference in body shape since I started exercising. I'd lost 20lbs on my own before I started exercising daily and recording my food intake and the 15 lbs I've lost SINCE I started doing those things have had a WAY bigger effect on my body shape :)
That's just me though, it'll be interesting to see what everyone else thinks :)

I am one pound away from my goal of 125! I think I initially set my "goal" date for April 5, but I pushed it back a bit. Either way, I'm doing this for life, and the steady weight loss has been pretty good!

You all can do this!!

only lost 1 lb last week, hoping for another this week, but may not see it :( Finals start Monday and I've cut my workouts in half, but the stress is making me hungry all the time :( Darn you cortisol!!! I've been trying to stay below 1400 calories, but it hasn't been great this week. I'll really be happy if I don't gain, but I have 2 more lbs to lose before I can buy my bikini and we're supposed to be going shopping on the 17th :(

I couldnt even steep on the scale this morning. I knew that it was going to be horrible. I am on Spring Break and between all of the BBQs and other parties this week, I have been eating non-stop. I am going to work really really really hard this next week and hopefully I will be back where I was last week at 143.

This sounds like a great challenge for me to participate in. I've been looking for some way of motivating myself more now that I only have five more pounds to lose and of course they're the most stubborn ones to come off. But finals are seven weeks away and I'm sure if I work hard I can manage to lose those last few pounds before I graduate and go home. :D

Weighed in today for the first time in about two weeks. I am just a half pound down, but my clothes feel looser, and honestly, this is a process and I want to reach my goal weight the right way.Yesterday I went a little nuts with nuts (I went home for the night), so I am not sure if the salt encouraged some mad water retention. Either way, I just have three silly pounds to go, and my next weigh-in date will be on April 10th. I keep the scale at home instead of at school, so my weigh-ins occur when I go home.

WOOT! 2 lbs lost this week :) I weighed myself Friday to see how I was doing and the scale hadn't moved since last week, so I was a little upset. This morning I tared my scale and found it had been reading 2 lbs high! So I'm down 2 lbs and 1/4 inch of my hips.
My finals start the 13 and my bikini shopping trip is planned for the 17th (day after finals), I have 3 pounds to lose b/w now and then. I hope I can do it!
I've stocked the house with healthy snacks (I'm a study eater) and I'm changing my work-out routine from Mon - Sat, to Mon - Fri. Hopefully losing the one day of working out won't throw off my weight loss.
Great job everyone on their progress! I'd honestly say the loss of inches is just as good or even better than the loss in pounds :)

Great job! That's always a good feeling. I won't be able to weigh myself this week or next because I don't have a scale at school & I like to use my scale at home since that's the one I always weigh myself on so I don't wanna switch around. Hey guys! So like the rest of you I was scared to step on the scale. I had worked out really hard this week but I still slipped up with cookies, ice cream and other junk food. But yay me! To my surprise I a weight of 163!! I remember when I was struggling around 180 and then finally got to 170. I was stuck at 170 for months. Its nice to see the scale finally moving again.

I was TOTALLY not looking foreword to stepping on the scale this morning because I have just had a crazy emotional not so good week. I also went out last night and well...I didnt think that getting on the scale could reveal anything positive. BUT it did.

ok so i weighed in this morning and i was expecting the worst because there were some days this week where my eating wasn't too great, but i've exercised everyday but wednesday so i guess that did help out a lot!

its that TOM for me, so im not even gonna bother weighing in until next week...i feel soo yuck!!!!! im still having trouble getting myself to the gym, but with school and work i just cant seem to find some time!!! and when i DO get time i just wanna use it for myself and relax..HELP!!!!!!

oh and about the scale thing, you can find a decent one at target..just make sure that when you weigh in you are using the same scale each time..that way youll know exactly how much weight you are losing even if the scale is a little off. different scales show me different weights..some are off by a couple pounds give or take. and i agree, weighing in in the morning w no clothes on is pretty accurate!!!!!

well all, i hope everyones having a good week!!! do we have a set weigh-in day???

hey- it's never too late to start the challenge! lol umm i already have a scale at home that my mom bought like 2 years ago, at my school we have a scale in our gym but i don't use it because i only like to weigh myself without clothes in the morning for my weigh in, cuz thats your true weight! lol but you can buy a scale at any drugstore, walmart, target, etc.. probably even at some grocery stores, and they're ususally not too expensive :]

and i was having a hard time finding a tape measure but i finally found one this week in walmart in the sewing section

I guess I'm really late starting this challenge, but I'm definitely in! I just started spark yesterday...oddly enough I feel better already. 6 weeks until finals for me, hopefully I can get the first ten pounds off by then! My first step is to stop snacking in front of the tv...major killer for me.

woot! down another 2 lbs! also 1/4 inch off my waist :) 5 more lbs until I'm a "healthy" BMI which means I can go bikini shopping!!! SO excited!

hey so yesterday and today i stuck to my calorie range and it feels soo great!!! i havent been able to do that in so long..i just need a little extra push to get myself to the gym. once im there its great, its the actual part of getting ready and forcing myself to get there that takes the effort...=/

haha yeah i don't think i weighed in after the best day either. but i finally got around to buying a measuring tape today, and my waist was down 2 inches and my hips down an inch! so that was good :] ill see how my weigh in goes this week

I know I said my weigh day was today, but there was a big party last night and after all the food and drinks late at night (I had some veggies for "dinner" in anticipation of the revelry) I don't think my weight or measurements would be accurate. My stomach is super bloated this morning... at least I'm not hung over though :)

Well I weighed in this morning, and was the same exact weight as last week. I also did not do so well yesterday, so maybe today wasn't the best day to weigh-in. haha Maybe next week will be better.

LOL Cassie, the reason I like Sundays is b/c I eat less on weekends! I checked my weight Sunday, Tuesday and Today, I was the same Sunday as last week :( down 2 lbs Tuesday :) and back up those 2 lbs today :( I'm hoping that it's water weight or something, but I'll let you all know Sunday what my real weigh in is :)

Costa, I totally hear you! I am a major emotional/stress eater! My biggest tip for helping with this... when you start to reach for food stop for a minute and think "am I hungry?" Often times you won't be. I sometimes wait until my stomach is actually growling to eat if I'm stressed. I also keep low call snacks on hand (pickles, popcorn, fruit) so if I really really NEED to eat, I have something to snack on that won't break my calorie budget :)

I'm having the same problem with losing as you :( I think I'm plateauing and with only 7lbs left to go before my next major reward I'm getting frustrated!!! I think I've gained muscle, because my thighs are FINALLY slimming down, but I would still like to see the scale go down. I'm just going to keep on with what I'm doing and maybe try to stick to the lower end of the calorie scale (I've eaten out a lot this week so it's been up). Thankfully my measurements are decreasing even though my weight's plateaued so that gives me a little hope :) Maybe if your measurements are decreasing too then that IS what you should concentrate on :)

Okay well I was totally dreading getting on the scale this morning but I did, of course. And well let’s just say that I am struggling. My weight wasn’t that bad (lost ½ lb since Monday) but it wasn’t good. I am beginning to realize that I am defiantly an emotional/stress eater. Whenever I am stressed or emotionally strained I eat. Do any of you have any advice on how do deal with that?

Another thing is that I am in the middle of training right now so I am exercising 9-12 hours a week. For some reason I just cant loose weight. I fluctuate around the same weight; gain a pound, loose ½ a pound, ect…. Maybe I should focus on measurements because I am gaining muscle? Any suggestions?

Well my goal weight for next week is 144. I could use some encouragement, especially throughout the week.

On Monday: 145.2
Today: 144.8
Goal: 144

ok, i dont like doing sundays cuz weekends are when i tend to cheat a little :] lol. we could always just each post our stuff the day that we regularly weigh in, that would work too. i just think posting our week-to-week differences help

hey guys! i know it seems like people hardly post on here but i have an idea that if other people wanna join in, please do! since the topic of this is a challenge for us to lose 1-2 lbs a week, i was thinking we should have a communal weigh-in day. i like to weigh in on fridays in the morning because i wouldn't wanna weigh in on a sunday or monday after the weekend, you know?

so if you guys want agree on fridays, i think we should all post our last weeks weight & measurements and then that days new weight & measurements. does that sound like something people would wanna do? if so, we can just start tomorrow!

Thank you for your words......I'm keeping track of my calories intake and also started exercising...it is overwhelming...but YES I will do my best to exercise at least 40 minutes a day 6 days a week...my spring brake will be at the gym. Heyy! Yeah Tostones I have to agree with what Bygosta says, I mean it's not like I lose 2 lbs every week, but to lose weight just make sure you stay within your calorie range and definitely EXERCISE! I read an article that says to lose a more significant amount of weight that you should exercise at least 240 or 250 minutes a week, which evens out to be about 40 minutes a day, 6 days a week (Yes-I did the math when I read this lol). I guarantee if you stick to your calories and work out this much, you'll see a difference in the scale AND in your inches :]

Tostones- Hey! Hmm... thats difficult. Are you exercising? It definitely is important to exercise as well, it will make weight loss easier and keep you motivated. Oh and are you counting calories? Sometimes that is good to do for a couple of weeks (if not for the whole weight loss process) because it makes you more aware of what you are eating. Some weeks I can be eating "healthy" but still be eating to many calories therefore I dont loose weight. GOOD LUCK and if you need more motivation or an accountability partner I am available.

Hi all,

I need some help here....can you please give me some tips to lose 2 pounds per week...honestly I'm so proud of myself, I have not been eating junk food..I'm eating really healthy and drinking tons of glasses of water a day...I have lost a few inches and I love it, but I have not lose any weight.. how can I do it?? I need and have to lose 2 pounds per day, I want to take the challenge and push myself a little harder...Please some tips will be really appreciated.
