if you can handle it - ordering a whiskey on the rocks with a shot of coke or water. It keeps the calories low and the water or coke mellows out the taste a little bit. Also it gets very watery as the ice melts and tastes even bette. Not only does it get the job done but lasts longer because you have to sip it! Also the alcohol is usually better quality.
I remember reading somewhere that light/clear alcohols usually have less calories than coloured ones... I'll try to find the source for that. Personally if I know I'm going drinking one night I skimp my calories during the day and try to leave myself 300 - 400 calories to drink. My 2 drinks of choice are tequila (with or without a little sprite) and dark rum and coke. Usually when I'm out drinking I'm also out dancing and I can be on the dance floor for hours, so I assume that I burn a lot of the calories I drink lol. I also am usually the driver (sucks to be the person that lives furthest from the bar!) so I usually have 1 or 2 drinks then switch to water for the rest of the night.
I personally have a huge problem with drinking too many calories as well. I don't drink too often (mostly because I am broke), but when I do, I end up drinking pitchers full of sugary drinks because I can't make sound decisions after my first two vodka and diets. It also doesn't help that there are about 30 college bars within 5 blocks of my apartment, so the temptation is always there. For me, the best thing to do is alternate run and diets with water or diet soda. That way, I won't be able to drink as much and I won't lose self-control at the end of the night.
"What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us."
Personally, (I also don't want to sound like a crazy party girl, but it's college so we all know right?) when I am going out and really want a "fun" night. My go to is either white wine mixed with diet sprite or sevenup (a white-wine spritzer) or my go to either vodka or rum mixed with Crystal Light (and water of course). Also if you're dieting you will get drunk quicker and don't need to drink as much. If you are just going out for a drink with friends or to catch up and enjoy the night but not party then order a pitcher with people and share it. Or get one cocktail that you really like and milk it for a long time!

Careful with your wording there- liqour and liqueur are two different things (one's lower calorie than the other). There are some sparkpeople articles about this too...here's a pretty good one. http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/nutr ition_articles.asp?id=893
MGD (Miller's 64 calorie beer) or as someone else said diet drinks or sugarfree diet drinks (even better) with a good liquor... Personally I think I drink more if it's the cheap stuff... also I have a problem eating more when I drink so I've started to just keep healthy stuff around when I know I'm going to drink

I don't want to sound like an alcoholic because I don't drink all the time, usually a few times a month, but when I do drink, I drink enough to get the job done and vodka is usually my go to guy because it's cheap and I hate beer. Does anyone know an alcohol that you can have a decent amount of without wasting a day's worth of calories?
I would say spirits with low calorie mixers. E.g. vodka diet coke or vodka soda water and lime?? Try to avoid beer and ciders at all costs! Some sparkling wines are not too bad also I think. Hope you find something you like!
