I have been horrible with my eating these last few weeks. Feel like I am eating everything in sight. Ugh... that has got to stop!

I haven't been doing well at all with working out. I struggle every day and wish I could figure it out. So much going on it is harder and harder to make exercise a priority, but I know it needs to be done.

After months and months of not taking care of myself (eating bad, not exercising) I am back at it. I need to get into some sort of routine again. That is proving to be a challenge but I can do this!

OMgosh, I feel like I haven't done anything in terms of trying to lose weight. Haven't exercised at all nor have I really been trying to eat the best I can. So I'm coming here to be accountable for my actions. I need to get back with it. Mentally and physically I know it will help me. I am starting again today with the process and trying really hard to stick with it.

Is everyone doing OK with their weight loss journey? How are things going for each of you?

Checking in to try to stay accountable. This new eating plan has it's ups and downs. I'm in a bit of a down moment right now. But I know it will get better.

I haven't exercised hardly at all. I feel so exhausted. I wish I could have some energy to get back with it. Who knows, maybe it's a mental thing and not physical. I know the idea of this kidney disease and my IH starting to kick is has me mentally drained. Ehhh...we will see.

Well according to mayo clinic i lost 3 lbs in one week the week i had my lumbar puncture. But mostly my diet has been less than stellar. I need to improve, but am unsure how great it will be. I need to go grocery shopping, but we didn't get back into town until 11 last night. I will be pulling out home made chicken and dumplings tonight.

My plan for the week,

Weigh in, log food and water as best i can, call the other nuerosurgeon, take it easy while i heal

Checking in for the week - I lost 3 lbs! Woohoo! But that's most likely because I had to change my diet drastically. But that's OK with me. I haven't been able to exercise in about a week. I got really really weak last week and come to find out it was because I got strep throat and tonsillitis. By sunday I could barely walk it was affecting me that bad. But got the meds and in one day I am feeling so much better! So anyways, hoping this week will be as good as last was for me following the new diet... and maybe getting in some workouts.

How has everyone else been doing for their exercise and eating?

Lol... did you tell him this is the new normal? I laugh only because I know how guys can be. I'm sorry he keeps expecting you to be 'normal'. It, unfortunetly, may never be normal again. It has taken my hubby years to fully grasp how I am now and he still has his days.

Mid week check in: Not doing too bad. Keeping to my new low protein diet has been hard. But I'm doing it. I think it will take at least a month for me to adjust but I will get there. I am finding that eating low protein, low salt, etc., has made it a little harder to reach my daily calorie intake. And also the good fats. We still need these things so our bodies don't go into starvation mode. I will be upping things like avocados, raw almonds, etc.

I'm insanely exhausted though. I can not bring myself to workout at all. I can barely make it through work. I know this is simply because of the kidney disease and am hoping it will get better soon. Until then, I do what I can and try not to get too upset over it.

How is everyone else doing?

Quilting, which is NOT my forte. But jo ann fabrics had star wars fabric in stock and star wars is his absolute favorite thing! When I finish I will post a picture for you. I need to find 2 contrast fabrics to frame out some comics looking print. Once i get those i can sew my next set of block and then the while blanket together... Otherwise i am a little over halfway done.

I am so sick of the whole ih weight thing....i think my issues started after my second child... I just don't know which condition set irth causing me issues....

Your son telling you that warms my heart. It's things like that which keep us going and have faith that things are not all bad.

My kidney disease was found in 2000 via a routine dr appointment. It's an autoimmune disease in which my body is attacking itself. In fact, I personally believe with all my heart, that my IH was a product of the prednisone treatment I was on to slow the progression of my kidney disease. The steroids helped greatly with the kidneys. But the side effects were horrible, felt like it almost killed me. And about 6 months later I developed IH. The neurologist thinks it's because of my weight. Well ya, I gained 60 lbs in 4 months on the steroids. That would make sense.

How's the blanket coming along? Are you quilting, crocheting, knitting?

Keep up the good work on the exercise. You keep mentioning the kidney disease, how did they find that? Ihaven't been moving much at all. In fact I have beensitting around working on ablanket for my son. He said i would mean so much to him so i made it a priority over everything else. He keeps telling me how awesome I am so i can't help but smile.

Monday check-in: Last week was pretty good. My eating was not bad at all which I am very proud of. I didn't do nearly as much exercise as I wanted. The scale hasn't been all that nice to me though. But that's OK. I'm retaining so much water right now that I can't judge my progress by the scale. Heck I can gain 8-10 lbs in one day due to water. I'm judging my progress on eating and exercising right now. The rest will fall into place soon enough.

Checking in for the week. Been doing a little better the last 4-5 days. A lot has to do with me finally starting to feel better. I was able to do yoga on Monday (which I haven't done in over a month because I couldn't take a deep breath). My eating is a little better. And my water retention (from my kidney disease) is starting to go away - thanks to doubling my meds. The scale hasn't budged but in general I feel better.

How is everyone else doing?

When you get fast food, what do you get? I used to beat myself up for eating fast food, but now I have come to accept that it is going to be a part of my life. So instead of getting my old standbys, I figured out what is healthy AND tasty at each of the places I go, and that's what I get. I can tell you what I order if you tell me what places you go to. Once you are getting things that fit into a healthy diet, then there is no more guilt for not having time or feeling up to making the food yourself. Of course, it's always easier on the wallet to make it yourself, but as for me, I'm currently working full-time, raising a teenager on my own (her daddy died 8 years ago), and taking 3 college classes for the next 5 months to finish my bachelors degree. Often there's no time to cook.

My progress had been at a stand still. I spent the last week feeling sorry for myself and didn't do anything to help with my goals. Today I am feeling much better, mentally at least, and will try to get back on the bandwagon.

Doing this week's check in. Diet has been less than optimal. My head has been bothering me often so many times we have had simple meat and starch meals. Several nights this was unfilling and I found myself snacking just before bed. Todays weigh in was an amazing 204.8 I. Need to call mayo clinic and schedule my follow up. Maybe I can get in this june.

Doing my midweek check in. After a week of only drinking water (no liquid calories) i have found my weight has increased to 207.6 :-( i can only hope that I should be more vigilant in my calorie consumption and that will go away, but it is very upsetting to see an increase in the scale knowing that with my last med increase my sweet tea became too sweet to handle an it was given up. So now my only calorie intake is with food. I am trying to do better about what I am eating. I have decided to make a plan over the next days. I am going to create a meal plan of 365 different, as in not repeating, dinners to make at home trying to utilize the natural rainbow of foods. There are so many recipes out there I might as well try them and see what we discover we like :-)

I'm just checking in today because I have had a pretty bad week. With being sick(with a cold) I haven't done any exercise this week. Nor have I spent any time making myself lunches so I have been getting fast food all week. Not so good. I just don't have the energy. Im trying to be accountable but it's not working this week. I'm pretty sure I have gained weight also. Bleh...

That scale....such a love/hate relationship...lol. I think it's great that your clothes were fitting looser. I always take into account things other than that darn scale. If I didn't I would probably give up on my journey to getting healthier.
I agree with you 100% Mary... we should be allowed an occasional treat.

It is the middle of the week, a new month, and I am checking in. Yesterday my clothes were fitting so loosely I would have thought there was some great movement on the scale, but alas I stepped on for my morning weigh in and was met with disappointment. Today's weight is stuck again at 206. I refuse to blame the 2 steel cut oatmeal cookies I had yesterday as my downfall, because we should be able to have occasional treats as long as they as that.

I have added ankle weights to my body as gentle additions to my around the house movements until I can schedule my follow up with Mayo clinic. Hopefully that can happen now that father in law is in a secure facility and we no longer have to worry and his safety. I have about 30 days of school required by the state. So i will schedule my follow up after that so I will not disrupt our school.

Yay! I'm down 3 lbs! I didn't complete all of the goals I had for the week. But I did complete a few. Last week helped me to get back on track and pay attention to what was important. Logging what I eat is always so good for me - keeps me accountable.

I only weigh myself once a week. Otherwise I start to get obsessed. I'm a Monday person. It helps me to focus on what I need to do for the work week. So I will be checking in on Monday's.
