I do the same thing!

I almost want to save my canned and dried items for "special occasions only". But they are there - wonderfully healthy and I should be using them!

I like this idea, Amy - I have added the goal -

This is a really good one for me - I hate to use up what I've canned (because I don't want to run out)...

I like the recipies link.

I think we should also add a goal - like "use a natural (home) preserved item in place of industry-processed once a day" or something... that way the goal links back to the idea of the group.

That way we'll be getting less sodium, chemicals etc and really - it taste better and is better for our health to meet our individual goals.

Post recipe weekly love trying new flavors

Fresh veggies broccoli, asparagus, green beans, squash onions and peppers (most fresh veggie) marinate over night in sesame ginger cook on grill until tender but still some crunch, usually about the time you get good grill marks, you will have to learn to slice the squash to get the consistency you want Texas fry size good place to start.

My family now is one person. I wouldn't mind adding a link to a new recipe, I use SparkPeople recipes/cookbooks. And will be adding a dedicated cookbook for the pressure canner. I think that if the goal is to drink 8 glasses of water a day it will be added to the other goals of the same title. Which makes it simple since my goal list is very long.

Posting a recipe once per week. Strength training 3 times a week, 120 minutes of cardio per week. That's all I can think of for now.

I like the idea about a post with recipes and tips. I also think we should have some goals like drinking 8 cups of water and getting exercise every day.

I like the post one idea or recipe a week. I think that could provide some invaluable info for everyone.

I like the normal healthy aims but it would be great as you say MrsGwynn to have some new ideas for preserving or even the basic ones which some of us might not know about. Perhaps make an aim to preserve stuff with less than 150 or ??? cals per serving or something like that

As a relatively inexperienced canner, I would love to see a challenge like "Post one preserving idea or recipe per week" That thread would be a great resource to me even though I might not be able to meet the challenge every week! HAH!

I like the standard "Drink 8 cups of water a day," "Exercise 30 minutes a day," "eat X servings of fruits & vegs a day."

Many bright blessings,

That's what this is, a place to throw your ideas out and get a response from others.

Some teams have goals related to the team, and others are healthy habit goals, like drinking your water or exercising x-minutes. We could do either or both.

I thought of putting up x-amount of food a week, too, but I don't know if it would work, for a couple reasons. One, some of us have big families, and some have small ones. Two, some do their canning/freezing as they go, and some in bulk. So, as in my cooking group, I thought if having a goal to try something new once a week? Like, a new recipe or a new method? Or to find a new recipe, even, because you might not be DOING it yet.

How about goals that are related to putting food by.Something like maybe putting up x amount of food per week or month. I won't be good at that this summer unless things change. It was just a thought.
