I really love the EA Sports Active. There is a 30-day challenge on the first game and it really works me good. It uses a resistance band while doing cardio. I really feel like it works me out!

I use the Wii Biggest Loser for my strength training and love that. Then I use the Wii Fit as an extra on my cardio days to work on my balance.

I have found that by doing a variety of all excersizes I do get a better workout than if I just did one. I usually start with the yoga and the suggested strength excersizes that make complete workouts, then move to 2 aerobics and use balance games as a cool down.

As far as Wii sports and other games my husbands therapists have recommended that he play them while sitting on a balance ball to increase his sense on balance and better strengthen his core.

My parents have the biggest loser game and seem to enjoy that.

i love some of the games that use the balance board. ea sports active is really a workout and some of the exercise incorporate the balance board. however, you don't have to have the balance board to use the game.

I must say I love my EA SPorts. I do the moderate intensity workout and it sure works out my body. I have lost 3 centimetres from my waist so far which feels awesome!

Next Wii game to get will be EA More SPorts. They have a 6 week challenge! Once I'm done with my 30 day challenge, here I come! Katrina :)

I start out with the beginning step to warm up. Then I do advanced step 3x in a row (15 minutes). After that I do a combination of island biking and free run, to add up to at least 15 to 30 minutes. I'm sweating through it, and feel a good aerobic workout from that. I also log it as low impact aerobics in Sparkpeope fitness.

Gold's Cardio workout is great for cardio, but only if you like boxing games.

I find this combination works great ...

Gold's Cardio - Cardio
Ea Sports - Strength training
Wii Fit Plus - Stretches (Yoga) & Core strength training ... waist, hips, abs, back.. ..

Where can you find the step adjuster? I need that! I love to do the free step while my husband watches something on TV...it's the best of both worlds but I need more of a challenge!

Thank you ladies and gents for alll the input on this question. It has helped me to decide to use my WII more, Whenever, we play, I almost always do step aerobics until it is my turn again. I have been able to run on the spot now - when I started I could barely walk. With a new year and a fresh beginning with lots of support, I know I will make this MY year. Thanks again. Sharon

I bought the step adjustor and we can step up and down at a 3 inch level, to intensify the stepper. I do the free step for 30 minutes while watching tv. it is perfect.

If you want a good workout you should try the Wii Outdoor Challenge. It has alot of vigorous aerobic type exercises such as sprinting, speed skating and conveyor run to name just a few. On the Wii fit plus some of your more vigorous activities include super hula hoop, Expert level rythum boxing, push ups, and Island run. Advanced step is pretty good. On the basic sports package that comes with the game console your best bets are boxing and tennis. If you check out the fitness tracker on this spark page you will find a list of some of the Wii activities that you can figure out calorie output using the built in calorie calculator. I know the Wii fit plus does the calulations but I often get a different number from the spark page calculator. I am not sure why but I think it may have to with the different weights get between the Wii and the bathroom scale

I like to do the advanced step two or three times in a row. I incorporate arm movements with each type of step so that I'm burning more calories and targeting some of my upper body as well.

I also like the advanced boxing, like someone else said, I keep moving the whole time, even when the guy is explaining. Sometimes I'll do this other boxing game I have... I forgot what it's called. I think it's called Cardio Workout by Gold's Gym?, but it's just boxing. That one is still rhythm boxing, but it's longer with more routines.

Like Beelzeblonde said, I too love the MET's and Calorie counts in the wii fit plus. I really love the improvements they made.

I really like that the new Wii Fit Plus shows which exercises or games have a higher MET or caloric output.

And gawd, I SWEAT when I do some of them or the EAS Sports Active. Didn't think I'd work up such a sweat.

I won't complain. It's working!

Same here Imreite - I bought a tennis racket! I was a badminton player in high school and absolutely loved it. Tennis isn't much of a stretch from that. We got WII for Xmas and I really enjoyed the tennis and like you decided I wanted to actually do it.

Has Wii made you want to be more Non-Wii active?
i.e. joined a step class, played baseball, did more strength training

what happened with me is that the Wii yoga, made me want to do more yoga: more poses, more flows (aka vinyasas). emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

my hubby bought me a tennis racket last week for my birthday because i made a comment that we should play it for real, not just on the Wii. We biked to the park wed night and played for an hour!

I really like Rose's idea of doing the My Fitness Coach and then doing the Wii Fit. The Fitness Coach is something I just set up yesterday and it seems pretty intense compared to the Wii Fit (although I've seen positive results already from the Yoga I do each morning and then the balance and strength stuff at night). I don't think the cardio is too out there, but it is SOMETHING and maybe using it as a sort of "reward" after doing the Fitness Coach is a good idea, it's still a workout, just not as intense.

There is this new thing coming out for Wii in May...it's supposed to incorporate the Wii board and a personal trainer that is supposedly even BETTER than the other games...I'll look around and see if I can remember what it was.

I only have the Wii with tennis, bowling, ect. Which is the best for exercise: Wii Fit, DDR or one I saw on tv but not in store is something to do with dance like the Dancing w/the Stars. Anyone know about that one?
I don't want to waste my money on something that won't give me the best workout. I'm not sure what all the Wii Fit offers. I've read from post that it has boxing and yoga. What is the Wii Sport? Is it any good for cardio? I really need cardio but want to tone my arms, abs and legs.

What I've been doing that works for me is using Wii Fit along with other Wii active games. I usually start with My Fitness Coach and depending on how I feel I do 15 or 30 minutes with it, then I go to the Wii Fit and then usually DDR or Outdoor Challenge or Wii Sports.
Changing it up like that, and knowing that after the 'serious' MFC workout (still enjoyable, but serious) I can look forward to more fun activities while keeping the calories burning, really helps keep me going.

I personally think it's hard to get your heart rate up to where it should be (and keep it there) by using the Wii Fit. I was pretty disappointed when I wore my heart rate monitor. The hula hoop is good though it just isn't long enough. I haven't unlocked the more advanced boxing though yet so I am looking forward to that. I use Wii Fit for 30-45 minutes every day and it's a good warm up and the strength training is good for mu muscles. Every other day, I add in another 20-30 minutes of real cardio for my heart rate.

Yes, that is a great idea!! I keep my heart rate monitor on when I WiiFit so I can just see my calories burned inching up during that time. Thanks for picking up on that, KNIGHTWOLF434!!

Thanks for the idea I will have to try that. Lately when I have been on the Wii my cat puts his paw on it or jumps on while I am doing the Body Test and that messes it up.

Well I just unlocked the highest boxing this morning. I did the 6 minute one this morning right after doing the free step aerobics and doing some yoga as well.

I agree that the advanced boxing can be a great workout if you punch hard, and keep moving during the teaching moments.

Also- if you use your arms (i.e. delt lifts) during the advanced or free step, it can get your heart rate up a little more.

While the strength and yoga exercises don't leave me breathless, if you do enough of them, you can get a fabulous workout! My legs and behind hurt for two days after doing 30 minutes of strength/yoga the other day. Trust me- it takes a lot for my lower body to hurt like that!

The hula hoop is a killer for me! I like to string together 2 or 3 expert boxing rounds & feel it is a good workout. I also keep moving while the trainer is telling you what the next move is to keep up the aerobic action between the 'real' punches.

Initially the run didn't seem like that much of a work out, but as I earned more and more time it did. I've worked up to 30 min. Also, initially the Hula Hoop didn't seem like that much of a work out, but try doing it for six minutes straight! (I think I just earned 10 but I can't remember).

OK, so I don't have the game yet...but we are probably getting one for Xmas. I've played it a couple of times at a friends house, and it didn't really seem to be a workout, although, we were probably playing the more "fun" type things...so I was just wondering from you more experienced players what you usually play on this game to get in a good hard workout?
