I had a question sent to me via sparkmail about strength training and how to count those calories since sparkpeople does not assign calories to ST. If you were a heart rate monitor you may use what it says you burned. If not you can put it under moderate calistenics and use what sparkpeople says you burn. If you use this category please make sure you are using either weights, medicine ball, or resistance bands.

If our guide doesn't have the trophy animal and we have to do a challenge on wii it states that everyone does it. All people in the challenge have to do it? How will we know if everyone does it? Or did I read this incorrectly.

Also, do we continue to pick guides once we have completed the challenge?

SCRAPHAPPY09: You have to accumulate 2500 calories to reach a destination (where you are going will be posted on Friday). Once you have your calories then you pick a guide. The guides hold your animals. Each place you visit has 3 guides but only one guide at each destination has an animal. The others have challenges. If the first guide you pick doesn't have your animal you must complete your challenge and then pick another guide until you find your animal. Once you have you start accumulating calories again to the next destination.

This is going to be so much fun. But I am a little confused. Where do I claim a trophy animal at each stop? And destinations?

Ok, for all of you that are signed up for the challenge here is the official place to track your calories and get your challenges. Here is more on the challenge.

Wii Exercisers, pack your bags and grab your passports!! You are going on the Wii African Safari. Players will travel to 10 amazing places in Africa while on safari. This will be an individual challenge with the winner getting a prize. At each stop, your task will be to claim your trophy animal and travel with them to the final location. At each stop, you will have your pick from 3 tour guides. 1 guide will have your trophy animal; 1 guide will have a Wii challenge for you to complete; and 1 guide will have a Sparkpeople challenge for you to complete. Each player will be required to burn 2500 calories to get to each location. ***NOTE: Only exercise calories will count. You cannot use your total calories burned for the day if you wear a pedometer that counts calories or one of the various body bugs. You will need to separate out your exercise calories. You can use either what the Wii says you burned, what your exercise equipment shows, or what SP shows in your fitness log. Exercise activities may include any exercise video/dvd, any Wii fitness game, any time at the gym, and any exercise equipment. NO DAILY ACTIVITIES WILL BE ALLOWED. Calories will not carry over from prior destinations. Calories burned doing challenges will not be counted towards your next destination.**** Once each player has burned the needed amount of calories to reach a location, you will then pick a guide. If your guide does not possess your trophy animal, then each player will be required to complete the guide’s challenge before picking another guide. Once you have your trophy animal in your possession, you may start burning calories towards your next destination. Once you have collected all your trophy animals, you will travel to the final location to receive your final challenge. The first player to collect all their animals and complete the final challenge wins.

Various Wii games will be used in this challenge. The Wii challenges at each location will either be from one of the most widely owned games or be able to be completed on various Wii games. If for any reason you unable to complete any portion of the Wii or SP challenges for medical reasons, please let the team leaders know and we will assign an alternate activity.
