I say keep pushing yourself--you can still see some improvement on those Ds to high scores....just take your time, but I think you can do it...I weigh a lot more than you--of course, I can't do jumps (just wears me out too much), so I turn them off, but I think can do more over time and practice.

I love DDR - I was doing that for exercise even before I got my Wii Fit. But there are some songs I just don't do, and I have yet to score above a D on the "difficult" level of any song, even when I get AA on the basic level of the same song. I suspect "basic" is my limit, as a 36-year-old person who is 25 pounds overweigh :) But it's still fun!

It really does sound like you have a dead pad...but I figured that would be the best way to check.

If you have someone else there with you, try having them wiggle the cord at each end (around the connections to the Wii and the pad) and maybe even in the middle to see if there's a short in the cord.

But it's really sounding like your best bet is to do an exchange.

Edit: most things won't hurt to try. didn't realize it was in the instructions--didn't think it made a difference on any of the others. The only thing that might hurt to try would be to do something that would result in electrocution. *zzzztt* emoticon

Also, the arrows at the top should show where your stepping even if the timing is off. Or even before the first step reaches the top. If it is sensing your step the outline of the arrow gets a little bigger or something (can't remember exactly what happens but you can't miss it).

Mommy_T, not sure it matters either but I remember the instructions tell you that. Figured it couldn't hurt to try it.

Thanks for the suggestions...I do plug in the pad while the console is turned off, and I use the plug closest to the front (closest to the cd slot). I will try a faster song and see if I can get anything to register that way.
I do get the hand swings to register with the remote and nunchuck.

I can't believe I'm that bad either! You would think I would hit at least one, if only by accident!

In addition to everything Mommy_T said, also make sure you plug the pad in before you turn on the Wii.

Make sure that you plug it in slot one (the one closest to the front of the Wii). Have you tried any hand movements and can you get them to register?

Go to a harder song (one with lots of arrows) and see if you can get the pad to register anything that way (just in case you aren't hitting close enough to the arrow--kinda doubt you're that bad, but want to check to make sure).

If nothing works--return it and exchange it for a different one.

I'm having no luck with DDR. I've gone through 2 beginner sessions in workout mode and have yet to register a single step. I'm beginning to think there is something wrong with my pad. Does it matter which of the 4 slots you plug it into on the console? Tonight I tried using the "A" and "B" on the pad instead of the remote, and that didn't register either. I'm ready to return it.

Any suggestions?

Lori

I absolutely LOVE my DDR. I started it a few weeks ago having NEVER done it in my life. It is an excellent way to burn calories. And its definitely not to hard for anyone. Especially if you do beginner mode, and in workout mode you don't get kicked out of the song, so its not even that discouraging. As I've been doing it more, I'm doing all the songs on Basic now, and I'm getting pretty good at some of them, SOME are still nearly impossible, but i'm getting better at an alarming rate. I would say its a wonderful weight loss tool.

It's $69.99 to be exact.

And like Lollifer said, it can be customized enough that anyone can do it...even if that one does look like a dork at first. lol...it takes practice to get the hang of it, but it's really fun and makes you sweat. (I find I burn more calories on songs I'm NOT good at, since I don't do as many steps trying to hit the note if I know the song.)

Cool. I would like try this too, but have never played DDR. Sounds like a fun way to exercise. Anyone know how much money it runs for?

I have the Wii DDR and I think it works for any age.

You can't slow down the songs, but you can set it up so there are no jumps and nothing less than a quarter note in workout mode. There are slow songs and when used on beginner with all the easiest settings chosen they are very doable for any age/fitness level.

I had my 70 something mother try a song and she could do it. Although I did pick the easiest (all right steps) song for her.

I really recommend the pad mod I did (there's a thread under the general forum). But be aware that you need to be able to move a heavy pad if you do that mod.

I think it all depends on the individual. I bought it when I got my wii and I have a REALLY hard time with the timing on it, but I have no rythm. I can do the basic and advanced step aeobics on the wii fit just fine, so I figured that would help me eventually with the DDR but for the life of me I can't keep up with it. So I don't think age has anything to do with it. I also don't know how to dance so that may be inhibiting me as well. My suggestion would be to find someone who has it or go to an arcade that has it and try it first. Good luck!
