Wild74- I was kind of in your boat- I so loved the book! I have the audio book to listen with hubby on our next long car ride- Once he finds out Mark Hamil reads a chapter, he is so in (My guess Henry Rollins does Yonkers?)
So, I did some back ground checking. I guess this is suppose to be a franchise, and they want to make 2 more movies. From what I could gather, a lot of the parts the book lovers like me loved (like Yonkers) may be in the sequel. Which would be awesome. If they incorporate the book into the sequel, I would be a little happier. I just don't want all of those great ideas never to hit the screen.
And, I will totally back BPU on this, it is nothing like the book- so when things do happen, I didn't see it coming (kind of like non-readers and game of thrones). And, it had an interesting couple ideas that weren't in the book. So, it might be worth a peek if you go in kind of thinking of the book as ideas to come later.
BPU, Be glad that you saw the movie first and not read the book. I will still go see it and try to separate it from the book. The book is amazing and fun to read. I even have it on Audio book and on my Ipod. To hear all the celebrities acting the parts....Mark Hamil and Henry Rollins. I am so glad that you liked the movie. I will go and see it, because you made it sound so new.

So, I have to offer a different opinion. I read the book, and I didn't like it. there were some aspects of the zombies and their infection that I didn't like. My biggest problem was it could have been an epic sweeping zombie tale instead of an American 28 days later. It just wasn't for me.
Glad to hear the movie is worth a watch, haven't read the book.

Let me start by saying that I have NOT read this book. I just bought it a few weeks ago and have not had time to get into it.
I'm glad I didn't get to read this. As I LOVED the movie. The plot was a bit thin and I didn't find it all that "scary" but it was great entertainment. There are actually some very funny parts. There are also some really good "jumps".
I am so glad hubby and I decided to spurge and see this on the big screen.
