So I watched Grave Encounters 2 this weekend. I liked the original-sort of reminded me of Ghost Adventures-the lead reminds me so much of Zach, and what could happen if one of their investigations went super wrong.
The second movie starts up with a group of college kids who are film students. The director kid likes the original movie ghost encounters, anc gets an email or something telling him the movie was real, and not a movie at all. He becomes obsessed, and eventually talks his friends into going on this haunted house adventure with him. Scary shenanigans in sue.
This is a found footage movie-so shadows, running, confessions a la Blair witch. Unfortunately, I didn't think the scares were that good. It did 't have to re-invent the wheel, but I did expect something different, or perhaps building on the events in the first movie. Near the end...or maybe half way, they throw a curve ball that I had a real hard time believing. I'm not sure it paid off, and they probably could have done it in another way, conveyed the same message. In the end, it's an ok movie-maybe 2/5 stars. Something to watch if you like those shows ghost shows. It's just been done before-I'd recommend the first one before this one.
